Friday, I did It!

The Quick Lock loan is paid off.  I did it!  One of the studio debts is gone.  By this time next year I hope to be free of the studio credit card.  I am on track with the monies that are being paid me by the studio in my pay off strategy.  I am so happy.

We also were able to completely finish the patio leveling.  So that is off the list also.  I don't feel like accomplished much on that list this month, but I felt like I was busy.

Mom's test results came back fine.  She is not having mini strokes but did have a bad concussion.  I think she was disappointed as she has lost so much ground and she wants to recover.  There is no recovering from old age.  Trust me I would like to see her improve her speed a little and that is not going to happen either.  It is what it is.

Yesterday Hub's and I took a long walk in the evening, and mom was a grouch.  Made a delicious stir fry and fried rice dish, mom even had 3 helpings. It had lots of veggies in it and she actually liked it, surprise, surprise.

Today after I get done paying bills I am going to make some 4th of July cookies and some pie crusts which I will freeze. Mom wants Swedish meatballs and I have to take a meal into a family tomorrow.  So I must go and cook with the mother so she will leave me alone.  Yeah like that is going to happen.

I am just so elated with myself right now, I am skipping.

Have a great and productive day.

Kim

  3. I am so happy you paid this off. Hey, your mother might not be able to get back what she has lost, but their are strategies for geriatric patients to strengthen brains and bodies.

I read that doing hard things increases synapses and grows new ones. I think that is the word. However, it does not matter that she does not complete the mental task, whatever it is. It is the trying hard that increases brain ability or keeps it from further deteriorating.

Since I cannot quite remember how to work with base 2, I am going to get out a book and do problems. I am going to learn a new language. I am going to get lots of algebra problems and work those. Since I have studied Latin, Spanish, Greek, and Japanese, I think I will learn German now. The local jr college has an option where seniors can take as many classes as they want for $35, so I am going for it. Oh, I am also going to tutor math for free to help my mind stay agile.

There are chair exercises for elderly or disabled. You can probably find them for her on the internet and show them on a tv.

Plus, there is daycare for the elderly that focuses on interactions to help with cognitive loss and the chair exercises that can be done while standing, also. don't call it daycare; call it a senior club that will help her get back what she lost with concussion.

  6. So glad you hit your goal with the loan.
I am at the lake with Mom this weekend' and she doesn't want to be here at all. So now I have to find things for her to do to try and keep her somewhat happy.
