Thursday, some good and some bad things

This has so far been an aggravating day, but I am trying to be positive and count my blessings.  The bid to fix the tape and sheet rock in mom's room was a lot higher than I expected.   This room with new carpet and me doing all the painting will run about 2 grand.  Not what I expected.  But the contractor (some guy I found cheap) that took forever to repair it before, did a really lousy job and when we started to tear things apart we found fistfuls of caulk rather than fixed sheet rock.  So to fix his mess is costing me money. You get what you pay for. So frustrating.

I went to the doctor this morning for my wellness check and as usual that was a fiasco. Had to actually find a nurse after waiting for a nurse for a half an hour in a room, because they forgot  to tell someone I was waiting.  This happens all the time at that clinic and I actually got fed up and went looking for someone.  Then I have to go back for a boob squash tomorrow(not talking about hubs).  I refused a colonoscopy as I practically died from the last one, I also have to go back for a full body scan for skin cancer as I was a life guard with Hubs for about 3 years when we were first married, long before sunscreens. I went into the lab for blood work and they had to mine me as in three sticks.  First of all they don't want you to eat anything and then they want you hydrated. Grrrr.  I hate doctors and the whole medical community just makes me furious.

Then I think to myself, "What a bad attitude, these are lovely people that can save your life and they are just trying to do what is best for you."  Yes, but can you do that with out touching me, or humiliating me, or hurting me? Guess the answer....

The studio owner finally gave me her last check that she owes me and I was excited as I could put that toward the sheet rock mess.  Then I went to cash the check and it was no good.  I am sure it will be, but I have to keep checking back.

I just went out to the freezer and found out that I have one package of chicken left and a package of hotdogs, one pound of bacon and two pounds of sausage.  That is it!  The rest was applesauce, frozen leftovers, and tomatoes. So the freezers are getting eaten down and I will have to start buying some meat.  There goes my grocery plan.  Grumble, grouch.

I am just a little ray of Sunshine today.

There is very little work in the shop and that always makes me nervous, but it is like this in January and February. Now I need to get on the phone and get tickets ordered for my aunt to fly out here.

     Count your blessings:
1. found a good sheet rock man who is doing a stellar job
2. the studio is paid off (I think)
3. I have medical care
4. I have great insurance
5. My blood pressure is very low
6. I have a roof over my head
7. I have clothes to wear
8. I have food to eat
9. I have a great family
10. I have friends I would go to the mat for.

I am blessed.

Have a great and productive day staying positive (POSITIVE KIM!) while you are in the negative.

Kim

    1. I know I can be so ungrateful and cranky, Today they about killed me with my mammogram, and I have a high pain tolerance. And the contractor who was supposed to be here at 10 is not here at 11:16, which means he will probably no show.

  2. I've not been a fan of all the medical stuff either, but the alternative is continuing to feel poorly, so I'll be good and not whine. Your meat stocks seem like a lot to me, as we just have the fridge freezer. I'm trying more plant based stuff anyway-whether hubs like sit or not.

    1. I pass out when I get super sick from laxatives, and my blood pressure drops and they had a hard time restoring it. It was very bad.

  5. I hate the process of the doc's. Doubly hate that insurance companies control a certain amount of medical care.
Sluggy if you and Kim will come to Birmingham we can have Diet coke, hot Krispy Keme's and dig through the bins at Crazy Cazboy's on quarter day. That ought to up her mood. I will even pull into fast food drive throughs and block traffic so you can scour for change. I will laugh at you both but I will block the drive through.

  6. I just finished my rounds of medical Boob wasn't bad as it was the new 3 d mammogram. The dexa study for the bones was actually worse. Dermo froze 3 precancerous off my right elbow. Better than the cancer he took off my nose a couple years ago with surgery. I remember why I have always done my own remodeling or hired someone I knew... Poor work costs more money.

Take a deep breath.... you couldn't handle people coming in and out of shop while trying to help your handy man... pick what will put you ahead the most and that's the remodeling for the house to be sold and you move on with your life. You won't have that exact shop when you sell the house will you?

  7. The medical carousel that we have to get on to get seen, treated, and cared for is at times a hot mess. I had an appt this week for followup, and they forgot I was in the waiting room and I was there a hour. But, I love my doctor, so next time I will sit where the receptionist can see me!

  8. do it! Just make it yourself using a lower fat meat alternative. We like to have lean ground turkey and add sage, savory, rosemary, and thyme with a little bit of Worcestershire sauce and Dijon mustard. Grill it to remove even more fat and enjoy on a whole wheat bun!

  9. Our last house we went to take wall paper off dining room and found no sheet rock just plywood. Yep, plywood. So had to sheet rock. Boy was I mad. I tend to get good and mad then just figure out a way to get it done. I come from a long line of capable hard working no nonsense women. My mom once rewired our whole house herself. She couldn't afford the cost so an electrician came out and told her what and how to do it and she did then he came back and did the inspection. This was a lot of years ago when you could do these things. He said she did a better job than some electricians he knew. Went to visit her one day and the whole kitchen window, window sill and part of the wall was missing. She found dry rot and was fixing it. And all this before the internet with all it's information. lol. Take care.

    1. Sounds like my grandmother. I too come from these kind of women. My basement family room is just painted plywood. Remember that old brown plywood everyone had in their houses in the 60's and 70's.

  10. Create a Facebook ad. Your normal posting will only deliver so much in term of promotion for your product or service. If you really want to reach more people, you will need to buy some Facebook ads. The cost is negligible compared to the potential gains.
