The taxes are in and I am over the moon about this little (big) event! I sat down this morning after my early doctor appointment and did them. Then between bridal fittings I took them to the accountant. Now I wait.
Mom's estate has so much paperwork. She had many small investments, and stocks, and insurance policies besides the sale of the home. Every different policy has paperwork to fill out and return and a lot of it is buggy and hard to understand. All of us are not signing at least one thing wrong on every account. I feel sorry for her estate planner.
We all live so far apart also. One in Florida, one in Ohio, one in southern Idaho, one in the estate planner's city and then me up here in the pan handle. It is not like he can sit us all down and just get it all done. Every day I am pulling forms off the internet, signing and returning. So happy I am not the executor.
I sewed almost all day on a ball gown wedding dress. The one I was complaining about taking three hours to rip the horsehair braid. Well, it was about 3 hours to get it all put back on, I thought I would never finish.
After that I started on another dress, and I need to do some alterations on it and call bride to come in so I can mark the hem. I have that dress ripped and ready to go.
Sissie is really keeping up with all the little stuff. Hurrah!
Had a wedding dress picked up this morning and another will be picked up tomorrow. But another will be dropped off today so there is no real catch up this time of year. But I feel so far ahead of the game right now and it is a lovely feeling.
I cannot believe March will be here this weekend. So, the two longest months of the year to me are almost over. March will bring spring, and I can get outside more. Yeah!
Now ya'll pray I don't owe a fortune in taxes. We were always so poor we never owed. But after Joel died, I started to owe. That does not even make sense to me.
God is good
Kim

Glad you got your taxes in. Even with everyone talking about them, I haven't even thought about it. Funny you said you started owing after Joel passed, I got our first ever refund after Glen passed. I get one every year. We never had a refund together.
ReplyDeleteI never have understood why, as I make less money with him gone.
DeleteWe are still waiting for a few of the necessary receipts and hopefully they come very soon. I am glad you got your taxes in.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
I just had a pile on the counter that drove Sissie crazy.
DeleteFor some reason, it seems like single or widowed women always owe…at least in my group of friends. Does not make sense to me. Couples seem to always get refunds. I was always told that single or widowed females have the cards stacked against the, from when they start to work until retirement as far as salaries and then in other benefits. And we all use different tax preparers and no one is a millionaire!
ReplyDeleteA widow's life is not easy in anyway, but there sure are a lot of us.
DeleteI owed $1,300. to the IRS this year. I was NOT a happy camper! Ugh! Oh well. Cindy in the South
ReplyDeleteDang!
DeleteWhat a great feeling when you get the taxes done. Taxes make me crabby. I’m glad mine are done. Have a great weekend. Sue in MN
ReplyDeleteIt will be nice when they are in and I know where I stand!
DeleteHi Kim ... I have been catching up on your posts as we have had no internet all week & I am ashamed to say how much I have missed it 😉!!
ReplyDeleteThat is great you got your taxes all done - such a relief. I wanted to say a huge Congratulations on your new upcoming grandchild. That is such wonderful news - I felt so happy for you all. xx
Well, I am still over the moon let me tell you!
DeleteI feel your pain with having siblings out of state when you try to settle your parent’s estate. I’m glad you have someone doing the hard stuff for you.
ReplyDeleteBelinda
I am just grateful I am not doing it.
DeleteIs there no end to your talents, my friend? You are an expert seamstress, an exceptional cook, a fabulous blogger, a super friend, AND you can do taxes??!!! If only I lived nearby, think of all the fun we could have! Happy March, my friend.
ReplyDeleteI did them for years, but owning two businesses, it was better to go to an accountant less chance of an audit. Now with just the shop I have become lazy!
