Monday, An outdoor list!

This would be me! I am the problem.

I had a nice weekend.  Gaylord and I went to an art fair in downtown Lewiston and then took a long walk on the levy. I made a nice, tossed salad and sone leek and potato soup for dinner. Then we had Norwegian butter cookies for dessert.

I had made a double batch of these cookies cut into fall shapes. I visited three elderly women in our church on Friday and took cookies.  The husbands were really appreciative. Butter cookies melt in your mouth and are a little addictive.

Sissie just took the rest of my soup home to feed her and Dan for dinner. I don't worry about cooking too much as one of us usually eats whatever is left over.

I am a little queasy today and I hope it passes. My goals for today after a little shop work are to get outside and do some work in the garden. I need to pick all the tomatoes before next weekend as we are supposed to have a hard frost. I plan on pulling almost everything in the garden beds and getting them ready for winter.  Will probably leave some of the carrots. But will clean out the chicken coop and put all the manure on top of the beds and then till is in for next year.  I should be able to freeze at least 4 gallons of tomatoes. If I get to many I will can later.

I paid bills, and I only have 2 bills that are not drawn out of checking. Then I transferred money to savings. I actually make more than I spend and that is such a weird feeling for me.  Those of you who have read me for years, know just how hard I worked to become debt free and solvent. I still have my frugal ways, but I am trying to relax a little. I still just can't get over worrying every time I spend any money. Just being able to use a debit card and not have to check every time to make sure I have enough money is so crazy to me.

I had the yard fertilized on Friday and the water was also turned off on Friday, so I have to go out and soak the yard by hand. I got used to doing that this summer.

Have any of you put your gardens to bed yet?

God is good

Kim

  1. I still have tomatoes and peppers and all of my herbs. It's going to be warm here for at least another couple of weeks. I would love it if you shared your butter cookie recipe. They are SO delicious. Happy Monday!!

  3. I still have tomatoes and peppers in the ground - cleaned out garden pots today. Annuals are still blooming. Being debt free is an awesome thing, and it does take time to get used to being able to spend what you kind of want.

  4. I want, no I need some of those cookies. There is absolutely nothing good to nibble on here.
It is still pretty warm/hot here so all the planted things remain planted. It's so warm the lantana and hibiscus are still in full bloom, which is kind of funny because the trees have noticed there is not as much sunlight and the leaves of the first trees to change each year are slowly turning colors. Meanwhile everyone is wearing shorts and flip flops, though the temp did not get up past 86 today.

  5. I have boxes of green tomatoes in the house and all the pumpkins. Hey, would you consider coming to Canada and clearing out my garden? I just can't seem to get the energy to do that this year.

    God bless.

  6. I love being debt free too! It is the best feeling. I love saving money. I only wish young people could get this feeling too.)
My garden was done in July, lol. Florida. I am not doing a fall garden because I am going to be traveling and no one here will keep up with it. There is honestly too much shade here anyway. I can't wait to get to my new place next year though. Lots of room for raised beds and lots of sunshine!

  7. It's been really hot here (90ish+), so our strawberries are back to putting out fruit, which is kind of wild in October. We also now have pomegranates on our tree, which we were able to pick, & they are fabulous. We need to pull out the tomatoes, but the herbs & peppers do fine throughout the year, as we don't get a hard freeze. - Hawaii Planner
