Glitter and chaos will be the name of my new blog, but it will be too much work to set up so here we are. Glitter is optional, the chaos is mandatory.
I was able to get all the hand work done on that wedding dress yesterday, it took quite a long time. Today it is all about the machine.
Sissie was here after her dentist appointment and she just left. Which means I can get away with doing nothing... She told me to clean my house. How rude! It is just a little messy and that is mostly glitter.
I do have some major sewing to do today, and I hope I can spur myself on... I mean to sew that is not to play on my cell phone or watch James Bond re-runs.
It is another beautiful day here, the sun is shining and it will be about 50. I ran to the store last night as I was out of milk and yogurt. Found three packages of bacon for 75% off. Bought all three. Put two in the freezer. When I go to the gym tonight, I will stop at Winco for tomatoes and lettuce, as I am hankering for a BLT.
I received the last of my tax documents so I can start on those, but first I must get some sewing done. The dreaded list.
1. finish wedding dress!!!!!
2. redo collar on a sweater
3. shorten neck on two sweaters
4.shorten sleeve on little boys' shirt ripped
5. shorten sleeve on little boys' coat. ripped
I have a new client, and I always get the hard ones. A little boy born with one shorter arm and a curvature of the spine. He is a sweetie. But his alterations are hard. I am going to design a set of mittens for him. I picked up a couple pairs of cheap mittens last night to mess with and do a prototype. Right now, I have the suit he will wear for his mom's wedding. I get all the really good stuff, right? Lucky me. Little person called me after picking up his lot and said everything fit well and how grateful he was to Sis and me. I thought that was nice. It is always nice to be appreciated as well as paid.
Sissie went to the dentist this morning and she has a dead lip and is talking funny. I won't get much out of her today. Her back fence is being re-done, and I am excited to see it! Just need to get over there before dark.
Well, I could sit here all day and type, but I do have work to do, drats! Tell me something exciting that is happening in your life. Or tell me something not so exciting. Just tell me something. I am desperate for news of others. THAT WAY I CAN SEE MY LIFE IS NOT SO MUNDANE.
The mundane life, could be a name for another blog. I am just full of ideas today.
How about the idea of working? Not so keen on that one.
I am off, and not just to get something done...
God is good
Kim
I wasn’t going to comment but your ending request spurred me into a typing frenzy. Your post today seemed to mean that the tsunami of sewing is sort of under control, Sissie must be helping a lot, that is a wonderful thing.
ReplyDeleteIn my world, I am on my second move in two and a half years, to a smaller place, and all my living room and spare room furniture were too big. Sold a bunch and have moved some stuff here just so I have chairs. So I bought a loveseat and it arrived today! So now I have two gigantic chairs and a loveseat! Very big news. In two more months, the final smaller two chairs and the living room sofa should arrive, then I will be mostly done….so that’s my good news for the day. Also here in Phoenix the high temp should be 82, all my windows are open! Happy sewing Kim, hilogene in Az.
Oh my, Hilogene! First was condo, but I forgot where you moved to...back to a house? You are more ambitious than I and I'll probably never be able to sell because I can't purge stuff, let alone figure out moving.
DeleteHi Sam, yes moved out of the condo to a small house across town. It is near some good friends and in a 55+ community (to me it seems like living at a hotel, has three restaurants, two gyms, pools, etc etc…no assisted living or anything like that, active adult I think they call it), I really like it so far, home is ten years old so no need for repairs yet, and lots of things to do and new places to check out. I think I needed a change of pace, to get me out of my rut and have my brain learn new things. And I find getting rid of my old stuff much easier than I thought ;). Glad to hear from you, Hilogene in Az.
DeleteOh yes the waiting for furniture trap. Remember when we just went to the store and they delivered the next day? Part of me would love to move, but kids need me and I need them.
DeleteIt is cold - but no snow! GOOD.
ReplyDeleteKitties are all well, and fun to watch the kittens trying to learn to hunt! LOL
I would love to have a kitten or a cat but not with the shop. Someday maybe.
DeleteIt's definitely nice to get thank you and appreciation even if a paid job. Frugal Gal had a post about that a while back, how saying thank you and showing appreciation even if someone's paid job means so much and takes little effort to extend.
ReplyDeleteIt really does mean so much.
DeleteI work, eat, exercise if pretty outside, sleep, rinse, repeat. I am so boring… lol. My highlight of the week is going to the grocery store. Cindy in the South
ReplyDeleteYour best life right?
DeleteI'm having a survive, not thrive week. Oh well, they happen. Who knows things might turn around and tomorrow will be beginning of better days. Nothing horrible, just blah!
ReplyDeleteI had a BLT for lunch yesterday. Yum!
We all have those; sunshine will return I promise!
DeleteWe are melting and things are pretty mushy by mid afternoon. I have done some baking today (cookies) and gotten the house sort of under control.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your BLT and have fun at the gym.
God bless.
It is foggy today, the normal here. Then I think how long until I see the sun again.
DeleteIt's 70 here in the bay area, which is unnatural for even us in February. M & I sat by the pool & had a glass of wine when we finished work, because we are both officially on vacation now! I had 10 meetings today. 8 planned, 2 impromptu. More drama than that, but I'll save you. Now we're just in the count down until we can leave for the airport - we are both super early birds, but it's a red eye flight - 14 hours to NZ! And then, a quick 1 hr/15 minute flight from Christchurch to Queenstown. Neither of us sleep on flights (I'm hoping for an hour or so), so I'll be watching ALL of the movies. Unfortunately, I've watched all the good ones on my trips to/from London a few weeks ago. Drat.
ReplyDeletePlease don't let there be a baby near me. I heart babies as much as anyone else, and bless a parent who needs to take one on a14 hour flight, but if I have a snowball's chance in heck of sleeping, please no crying kids.
Okay, that's my stream of consciousness. I'm going to try & sneak extra stuff that I don't want to carry into M's pack. Fingers crossed he doesn't catch me. It is my birthday, after all. ;-) - Hawaii Planner
Happy birthday, I wear clic reading glasses and they have been known to keep a baby happy for over an hour, plus I have a little tape measure in my purse that snaps back, also a great distraction. Don't know how many times I have handed these back to a crying child for silence. Hope you have a wonderful trip and get lots of rest.
DeleteWe flew across country to stay 5d with friends who left Idaho for warmer climes. Uh huh.....Sunday in Charlotte they had 12 inches of snow and it was 9F. Meanwhile it was 54 at home and I walked briskly wearing a t-shirt! I worry for our farms in ID. But hey, we get to enjoy winter in Charlotte ;-)
ReplyDeleteYEs, I believe we are going into a drought, other farm problems have been brought on by themselves, still I feel for them.
