Thursday, Just do the dang thing

I am definably working on a project like this today! It is a men's suit I took the sleaves out of, so I could adjust the shoulders, only to find out I did not have to, and I screwed up.  Now I have to put it back together and it is very hard.  I need to just do it... I mean I am sure if I set a timer I could have it done (at least the hard part in less than an hour) but I have to procrastinate and make it much bigger than it is first. I have to torture myself for a few days or months or years.....

This house needs a really good vacuum, which I have out waiting until I have done my sewing for the day.

Kelsa is here today; she is under the weather. Although I see no signs, I also have to pick up her kitten at the vet at 4:15 as the kitten was fixed today and Signe' is running with scissors. Grandma to the rescue.

So today I need to press a dress and call the client and then get this suit done.  That is it! If only I will just do it.  The hard part is the doing it.

Gaylord is coming tonight and we are going out to dinner.  I have Kelsa all weekend, so that will ruin us having fun.  I have spent the last two weekends going out with him and have not had Kelsa and that is causing some problems for both her and her mom. How dare Grandma get distracted.

Hope you guys have a great weekend.  I will report. Having a 6 year old control the weekend may just do this grandma.

God is good

Kim

  1. Getting started is the hardest part.
Hey - momma and grandma gets to have a life too!! They don't have to like it. You always go above and beyond for family - so you just enjoy you.

  3. As others have said you need and deserve a life too. You have always been there for the family and now you should live a little.

    God bless.

  4. Amen to the above!

I know exactly how you feel about the suit jacket, but fortunately my project was much easier. My daughter has a stuffed skeleton with movable arms, legs, etc., and the pieces that hold the top to the hips and legs got chewed apart by the dog. I couldn't match the product that held them together since JoAnn's closed, but I found some twill tape among my notions and decided to use that. The fix was easier than expected but not . quite . right. The perfectionist in me would have torn it apart and tried again, but I honestly wasn't sure I could do better. Different, maybe, but not necessarily better. Besides, I was recovering from Covid and a UTI (both at once) and didn't feel like doing it! So I didn't! I realize you can't do this in your business, but I could and did and she never noticed!

Your meme was perfect for me. There was a time when I would have thrown it in the corner for 2-3 years. In fact, I think I may have some projects in the corner right now...but not the skeleton. I even got it done in the right month.

  5. PS I was too sick to change the sheets on my bed for two weeks because I never got out of it. I changed them today and they are soaking overnight in Oxy powder. Just the thought of sleeping with all of those germs is pretty disgusting! But I did, and lived to tell the tale. The clean sheets feel wonderful!
