I had a nice weekend. Uncle Dan and I went up to Kelsa's party Saturday afternoon. She was so excited and so cute. She stayed with me Thursday and Friday night, so she was out of the way, and she was actually shaking with excitement when we drove her up to her house.
I frosted her cake and Uncle Dan helped with the setup of the water slide and a balloon pool.
Sunday I was up early as the choir was singing, and we had practice before church. It went well and that song can be stowed away for later. Received one of the songs we will do for Christmas as we will start practicing. We were not supposed to have choir practice after church but the Bishop called a meeting and I had not brought treats. This was not a bad thing for the adults but the kids we shoo into the nursery were devastated and the meeting lasted almost as long as practice. Thank goodness, I had purchased 6 cookies from a bake sale that were delivered to me at church. They were large and I pulled those out and split them in two. Crisis in the nursery averted. I however did not get a cookie.
Then I came home and spent the entire afternoon resting. I did have to water and tend chickens, plus watering the property and I did a weekly spraying. I was a sweaty mess. So much for not working hard on the Sabbath. But when it is in the low 100's you have to water. Dan came over for a piece of that pie I made. He also brought me some shrimp salad from Sissie, and I had that for breakfast yum! Ate the last piece of pie this morning.
I already had two brides in here this morning. One was just a consult, so she did not leave the dress. But I have plenty to dresses to get out. Hopefully I will get two out this week, bridal dresses that is.... Not counting the mother of the bride and just general alterations.
I have several little bills that need to be expunged and that is my goal for this week. I also have to save for the last half of the house taxes which are due in Dec. Those are 1600.00 plus Christmas. So, this week I need to just try and get all these little bills paid. Hopefully in the next two weeks, if possible.
I need to put 350.00 into my checking account to pay for airplane ticket that daughter bought. Then I owe Sissie 300, don't' ask. I swear we throw money back and forth at each other all the time. It is really kind of funny. My two sister's and I had what we called the traveling thousand, that floated between us for years when times were tight. We really don't know how it ended up. I am sure I was the winner on the receiving end. Then I owe Home depot 70.00, have a balance on my Talbots card, that I need to pay before interest. Just little bills that need to be addressed before I go for the taxes. Also, I used my major CC for things this month and will have to pay those balances. Money in money out. The whole goal is not to add new debt. Oh, and the dog needs a groom $50.00
I have a wedding dress ripped and ready for me to work on today. Plus, I have grooms' suit to alter. I will try and get those done today. Still have pants to fix for a buddy, so should get to those. It is always something.
What plans do you have for the week? Are you trying to save for anything?
Life is just plain old expensive.
God is good
Kim.
Happy Monday. Life sure is crazy expensive. I have been buying coffee beans for years…2.5 lbs have been $16 forever. Suddenly the price is $22. Sigh. Or Grrrrr. anyway, glad all is well in your world. No complaints here, God is good indeed. Hilogene in Az.
ReplyDeleteYEs coffee had a bad harvest plus the tarriffs.
DeleteA balloon pool sounds fun! I have plans to take my mother-in-law out for dinner tomorrow for her birthday and then a grocery run on Friday. Exciting times here!
ReplyDeleteYour life sounds like my life.
DeleteFun times for the birthday girl. You thought on your feet at church. I know where there's stashes of shelf stable snacks at church and can do a rob Peter to pay Paul type nab, then go buy replacements. Sometimes there's just extras but with budgets getting tighter, leftover treats are limited.
ReplyDeleteYou know we might have those I just don't know where they are. Usually not allowed around the youth I am way too woke!!!!!
DeleteThe birthday party sounds like so much fun. You should have gotten a cookie for sharing the cupcakes.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
I know.
DeleteI can just imagine Kelsa being so excited. Kids are just so wonderful - their excitement just vibrates off them & they don't hide it. I had to look up what property taxes were ... I googled it. We don't have them here in New Zealand & I didn't know what they were. I see not all states have them, just some. xx
ReplyDeleteThey are crippling especially to the elderly.
DeleteI know Kelsa was one happy girl.
ReplyDeleteI am currently saving for nothing, mainly because there is nothing I want and nowhere I want to go. We leave money untouched for all the expenses we know about, which is probably a form of saving. We just never looked at it as funds to spend to begin with.
You are blessed every penny I earn or that comes in has a place to go.
DeleteI'm saving for upcoming trips, and because I had to buy some new "work" clothes, as the company I am at is way dressier than where I was before, particularly the London and Tokyo. The bay area office is more similar to my previous company. Anyway, work clothes ain't cheap. I want to replenish the savings, but Nick also has start up costs for college, and we have a terribly expensive water bill? Not sure if we have a sprinkler leak. That's on the list to investigate as well. - Hawaii Planner
ReplyDeleteTry Talbots sales for dressy work clothes they have great sales.
DeleteI'm sure Kelsa was super excited for her birthday party. Glad it went well.
ReplyDeleteIt was 48 when I went to work this morning and was SO refreshing. I know the heat will be back but this is a nice cool down that I will enjoy until it does.
It was cooler when I went to the doctor earlier but rising fast.
DeleteYou should not have to take missionaries for dinner. The church has billions? Billions of dollars? Maybe stored with their “gold plates” no one can find lol. The church can feed them with a grocery gift card. People need to stand up to that nonsense.
