I am scared to death, the papers for the house selling are coming through within the hour. We will have until August 15th to vacate. Where are we going? Well I am hoping and praying that something will come available. But in the mean time if we have to we will put things in storage and I will set up shop at Lil sis's. We have daughters that will take us in that have big houses, and Hub's folks really need to have someone with them. We have places to go.
Now Hubs is beside himself. Even tough we have talked about this and prepared for it for almost a year, he has somehow changed his mind and does not want to sell. We started putting things in storage right after Christmas. Of course this was before the cancer diagnosis and COVID. SO things have changed, but the house is still too large, the yard is still way too large, it is expensive to water and we need a smaller foot print. Those things have not changed.
I am just sad that there is no co operation here and I think we are doing the right thing.
Well I have a wedding dress and and a bridesmaid dress that have to go out today along with a few other morsels, so I had better get busy.
Have a great and productive day staying positive while you are in the negative.
Kim
A big congratulations! Hopefully after everything settles (&, you get the check!) he'll start to see all of the positives on a smaller house with less maintenance.
ReplyDeleteAlso, it's just such a relief to move on to another phase, vs being in limbo
I am hoping he will adjust, well becasue he has to. It is nice to not have to worry about keeping everything ready spotless. Also to not worry about little things, like should we paint the two other bathrooms? Should I clean the bugs out of that light fixture?
DeleteCongratualtions, right?!?! From wha tyou said it is the right hting for you. There will be regret, but better to move than be moved.
ReplyDeleteI know my point exactly. I do not want to do to my kids what my mother did to us.
DeleteCongratulations, I hope your dream place comes soon. You do have a lot of places to head to. Hubs will see the decision is right, soon enough!
ReplyDeleteI sure hope so. I am looking forward to a new adventure.
DeleteJudging from all of the cleaning out we have been doing at Mom's, downsizing is essential as we age.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the sale!
I know, having gone through this with my mother I am happy to keep my kids from having to do this.
DeleteDon't know you but kiddos to you for pushing forward! My spouse wants to keep all physical memories of stuff that makes me nuts . . . At my age (71), less is best! Congratulations on having a ratified contract!
ReplyDeleteyou for taking this huge step!
Well it is hard being the one that pushes, but I know we (I) did the right thing.
DeleteHow exciting!! Things always work out!!
ReplyDeleteI know, it is just hard to have faith.
DeleteI have faith that your dream house is out there waiting for you. All in God's timing.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sarah.
DeleteWow congrats! I'm sure all of the hassle will be worth it once you are settled in to a new place but it is still pretty scary when you are in limbo. I'm sure the perfect house is heading your way!
ReplyDeleteIt is, but this is also a relief. I don't even care about a perfect house right now, just that this is sold and we are moving on.
DeleteCongrats to you. I sure hope you find what you want and will find one to love.
ReplyDeleteI would be freaking - having to move right now. Best of everything to you!!
Well not to say that I am not a little scared. Just looking at the garage and the shed (hubs two hideouts) I start to get a little nervous. How can I get him to get rid of all this junk?
Deleteoh thats good news! Congratulations! Its a big change but the right house will come along and having family support will make is much easier.
ReplyDeleteI know I have all the kids here this weekend so we will have a group that can control the Hobs.
DeleteJust keep chugging away. We sold our home in January and were able to move. I felt like I was dragging my husband along with me from day one. Never before did I have to take so much initiative and do things on my own. And he questioned everything! But we landed just where we should and so will you. He will adjust. You will see. And now it will be very easy to slide into a new place since you are ready with money in hand.
ReplyDeleteI know and I am just trying to keep him from getting me down. Positive.
DeleteCongratulations! Too bad you have to drag him along. Don't feel guilty about doing this without his being happy.
ReplyDeleteThanks, I needed that support. This is hard, but I am relieved and happy.
DeleteKim - Sounds to me like this is THE TIME to get out of the house. Don't be like my parents - moving out of a house in their 80's. That was a nightmare. My mother (being like your hubby) didn't want to leave. Well, my father put his foot down. The sold & moved (to independent living) & they're doing fine. Even they admit they waited too long. I told my husband we are NOT waiting till we're older to figure this crap out. I'm happy for you - hubby will come around. It will be a fun new adventure!
ReplyDeleteThanks you. This has been tough, as I really want him to be happy.
DeleteCongratulations! Since you have places you can stay I would look for a house that's just right and not buy something just because you think you have to.
ReplyDeleteI know even if we can't find anything, putting everything in storage and staying with others for a while will just allow us to see what we really need when we finally settle.
DeleteThats great news Kim. It will all work out okay I'm sure ... just drag Hubs along, kicking & screaming ... he will settle soon. I have one just like that - a Hubs that is!!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad others have this same issue, it makes me realize I am not the wicked witch.
DeleteCongratulations! I know it must be scary, but sometimes you just have to drag your partner through it when you know it's for their own good as well as yours. You will be a cash in hand buyer so in a very strong position when it comes to choosing your next house. Just a thought, might it be worth putting the word out in your church community that you are looking for somewhere, maybe there is online communication happening even if you are not all meeting in person.I say this because I think a lot of people may be waiting to put their houses on the market, but if they knew there was a ready made buyer they might be interested in selling.
ReplyDeleteIn any case it's great news, you are fabulous under pressure, it will all turn out good!

Thanks you. Yes having cash in hand does seem to be the magic elixir.
DeleteCongratulations, and praying for you and the hubster to reach a point of cooperation.
ReplyDeletethank you so much Evelyn, I need all the prayers I can get.
DeleteCongratulations on the sale! I agree with following your gut and moving out. It sounds like you have plenty of options for a temporary roof so you can wait for "the right next home".
ReplyDeleteI am so relieved right now and I know I made the right decision.
DeleteCongratulations Kim! Sounds like the right move for you since it's so much to take care of, better to do it now while you are able and ready. :)
ReplyDeleteI know and I am happy, thank you Belinda you mean a lot to me, I love to follow all the things you do to save money and it has helped me so much to have this community.
DeleteCongratulations! I know you are so relieved. For sure it will be stressful for a bit, but you have great family support. It's time you leaned on them through this journey.
