Tuesday, Little engine days!

I think sometimes I live by this motto. I am very good at hiding my true feelings. What are my true feelings?  I don't really want to dwell on that, so let's get to work!

Dan has finished the second garden bed.  Now I can replant carrots, radishes and beets.  It is only the third time no big deal! The money and the time I have put into this garden area is absurd. But I will win dangit!

Good news and boys from our ward are coming over this evening to finish weeding the hill. I will only have them for an hour, but 8 to 10 boys can pull a lot of weeds.  I am going to set a sprinkler down there this afternoon to help loosen the soil. I hate to waste water on weeds, but the more that come out the less I have to deal with.

Actually, saw a blossom on the cucumber plant, so if it is not eaten off tomorrow, I will know that we are going in the right direction.

I was able to get my quota done yesterday and I had a bride here this morning and I will finish her dress before I start on today's work.  I need to add some lace to the arm area and hooks in the back to reinforce.  Then I just have to steam, and she is done. Hoping to get all this done in an hour.

I have a mother of the bride dress to hem and a flower girl dress to alter, and I have already ripped out the flower girl dress.  Then I have another dress to hem with horsehair braid so that is my crappy task for the day.  If I can get all this done, I will be on schedule. * Snort*, Kim is on a schedule..... Imagine?

I am in my little engine that could routine.  Here I thought this was my easiest June ever, I had things so under control. Well, that blew by really fast as I swear people are just not planning ahead and coming in later and later to get things done.  It is crazy.  But as I am motivated by money I seem to say yes. I think I can, I think I can, turns into I know I can if I work hard enough.

I have two wedding dresses getting picked up tomorrow, so that is less in the shop, and makes me happy. I also cannot forget that I have a few piles.  They are under all the wedding dresses. Have to get them on the schedule.

Well, that wedding dress awaits and I am going to set a timer!

Have a great and productive day

God is good

Kim

  1. The only good thing about getting slammed with work later rather than timely is the later it is, the more it costs. Charge wisely grasshopper!

  3. I was of the same mind as Anne- charge what you're worth and a convenience fee for the rush. I cheated at the garden center and bought two tomato and two pepper plants, with veg already begging. Next year I swear I'll start seeds early and actually have a garden b d or two.

    1. I am really tempted to get a green house. There is a nice one at Costco for 1000. I swear it would pay for itself in a year!

  5. And let them know there is a rush fee. I would personally say "This would cost $_____ but there is a rush fee to get it out by Thursday, so it will cost $_____. Letting them know what their procrastination costs might eliminate (or at least reduce) this problem.

    1. You know I love the term rush fee. Never thought of that!

  6. You certainly are the little engine that could, Kim. I agree with the others charge a rush fee if they don't give you enough time.

    God bless.

  7. I am still irked at people who got a rush job and still complained about what they had to pay. You want layered pageant dress in two days? Pay for it. I have my fingers crossed for the cucumber blossom.

  8. You really do need to add a rush fee.

  9. I managed to clean the house yesterday, which is always a victory. And, basically sit on top of Nick, so he could get some college tasks done. Today is an early hike with a friend, a bunch more of "Nick" tasks, and then I need to actually work on Nick's Tshirt quilt. And, make a new pile for Buy Nothing. Work through a few more things on my "before I go back to work" list. - Hawaii Planner

    1. I love that you are rushed for time before going back. Ironic, isn't it? You are going to miss that down time. But I do understand one must work!

  10. YAY for service projects! Consider getting a D-hoe. I go out every 4-5d. Takes a very short time to keep 'em down! https://www.dkhardware.com/truper-7006116-hoe-tru-tough-steel-weeding-54-wood-handle-brown-product-5580551.html?utm_source=google&utm_medium=shopping&utm_campaign=free_listings&nbt=nb%3Aadwords%3Ax%3A19769191902%3A%3A&nb_adtype=pla&nb_kwd=&nb_ti=&nb_mi=2663876&nb_pc=online&nb_pi=5580551&nb_ppi=&nb_placement=&nb_li_ms=&nb_lp_ms=&nb_fii=&nb_ap=&nb_mt=&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=19769195955&gbraid=0AAAAAD7jExQf5NP-sK2xnY0qmnCo4jQ5R&gclid=CjwKCAjwvO7CBhAqEiwA9q2YJeuPzRpYW0xdygLg3C8y1lMACPQj6DMbDelUXRbO08L_mXo3IurenhoCQGUQAvD_BwE
