Sunday, resting, decorating,

We were finally able to get rid of all the Thanksgiving  leftovers yesterday when 6 missionaries showed up at lunch.  It was great other than the extra dishes. They were happy I was happy to see the food go.  Last night about 8:30 I did the last of the Thanksgiving dishes as in leftover dishes.  Dan's parents did the Thanksgiving dishes.  I still have to empty the dishwasher and I am going to find a few items to put away I am sure.  An odd piece of silver or some china that migrated.

Hubs and I did some shopping yesterday and it was not nearly as busy as it has been in the past.  Most people in stores were masked as there is a mask mandate in town.  We finished all our local shopping and I just have things to order on line now.  I am happy to say I am almost done.  I hope to finish this evening and know that I can face December without that burden over my head.

I was happy to be able to get the things on the list  in my house done.  I just was slow and steady at it.  Of course after I got all the fall deco down I found more I missed.   I was happy I had not taken the box to the garage so I can add the things that I neglected to put in the box.

Hubs just brought in the Christmas tree and I hope to be able to get that decorated today.  I am going to make a roast later this afternoon which will be nice after 3 days of Turkey. Lil sis has been gone and comes home today so I am excited to hear how her Thanksgiving was.

We went down to the Christmas Park lighting last night.  We met our 2nd daughter, and her husband and kids.  It was fun to see Schmills get so excited.  But the crowds were a little intense and many people were not masked.   We did not stay long and stayed on the periphery. I so hope there is not a huge covid spike after this holiday, but on seeing the behavior down at the park I am afraid for many.

Well I am going to go and empty the dishwasher again.... and then set up my tree.  I am kind of excited about it.  New house and the first time I will set up Christmas.

Have a restful and peaceful Sabbath.

Kim

  1. That sounds lovely! When I made the Thanksgiving trays for my two youngest sons and did porch drop off at their houses, I included all leftovers, because I cannot eat them all. Plus, I am not fond of turkey, but they are. It was in the 70’s here until today and now it has rained all day and my yard looks like a flood zone. It is also much colder (for here), and will be cold next week. It will be much colder on my oldest son in the northern part of the state, than me in the southern part of the state. The two youngest sons live in the central part. Of course, cold is relative, my daughter in Utah keeps send me snow pictures of my grand baby hiking in the mountains...lol. I am sure it is even colder in north Idaho! I am sure the missionaries appreciated your good food! Our Covid rates are sky high. I dread court next week. I do not want to retire until 65, but Covid is making me think twice. I know there will be a vaccine soon but I want to make sure there are no horrendous side effects. I remember the flu vaccine in about 1976, and that disaster with some cases of paralysis. I will take it once it seems like there are no really bad side effects. Enjoy decorating your beautiful new home!

    1. Thanks Cindy, just found out I was exposed so we are on lock down. Covid is rampant here. I have been so careful. Now I have no excuse not to get things decorated and some baking done.

  2. I am never in a hurry to get rid of leftovers! The excitement of little children is one of the best parts of Christmas.

    1. We do eat all our leftovers, but with Hubs on a diet all the time having high calorie foods around does not work.

  3. How nice to have your shopping almost complete. Christmas decorations are always so pretty and festive. Something about the lights.
How nice to have shared all the food with the missionaries. I am sure it was appreciated.

  4. I hope you are feeling better after some rest. Holiday meals are exhausting. I know the missionaries enjoyed their Thanksgiving feast. Glad you were able to get your shopping done. How fun to share the lights and excitement with Schmills. I'm sure your tree is lovely.
