Friday, Thanks for the advice!

Thanks for the input on my financial future. I have decided to try and up my emergency fund to $3000. So, after completing my goals for the month all left over will go to that.

I had a bride pick up and I have had two more second fittings so those can be finished next week.  Five more bridesmaids to do and of course the piles.  I was able to get a few piles done late yesterday afternoon.

I also was inspired to clean out my freezer by Chef Juls Owings.  The fact that Kelsa is here and not allowing me to get much sewing done, but she would allow me out in the garage. So, I emptied and took inventory of the freezer.  Found some things that need to be used and put them out.  I had individual peach cups and some blueberries that I will use in smoothies and muffins.  Also, we have some fish that needs to be eaten this month. We also have plenty of applesauce left that was at the bottom, so we will work on that before I am doing applesauce again. I found some ground pork sausage and I thought I was out.  Now I just have to incorporate it into meals.

I will do the fish up in my electric skillet.  I actually cook it a way they do in Sweden with butter and cooking wine.  You boil it and it is delicious. Cod cooked this way actually tastes like lobster.

I actually looked at my June goals and I had done them all!  Then put-up new ones for July.  I just want this to be an easy sewing month, with lots of kayaking and walking.  No grocery shopping unless it is an absolute need or an incredible loss leader.

Kelsa is asleep now, so I am going to sneak into the shop.  Had a bride come yesterday for a bustle and when she tried on the dress it was way too big in the top, she left it, but is getting married next week.  Also just got a call from another that is getting married the 26th and she is coming in Monday.  So, you can see why I wanted all dresses for July done and out.  As I am now working on August dresses, and I have been hit with 3 July dresses this week.

I need to pay the rest of the months bills and get out all graduation cards. It is always something.

What are you plans for the weekend?

Have a great and productive day staying positive while you are in the negative.

Kim

  1. Puttering, I call it. Trying to get things to rights. I had a challenging family situation spring up, and I'm feeling low about it, but don't know how to resolve. I guess I'll just concentrate on what I can. That's my weekend I guess, but was/ am hoping for a little fun.

    1. Sometimes family is the worst and all you can do is lay low and try and stick up for your ideals.

  3. Goals all accomplished in June? Well done, Kim!

We're going to friends to play boardgames and try to get their pandemic kitty to come out and visit us, and on Sunday, we're going to an outdoor concert! I'm excited/nervous about the crowds (I'll be wearing a mask).

    Happy weekend!

    1. I am not big on crowds either, especially if I am crushed, it sets in a panic. I hope you have a lovely time.

  4. Can you share the way you cook cod with the butter and wine!? Just recently found I like cod but need new ways to cook other than fried. Thank you so much

    1. I take raw fish and salt and pepper, then but 1/2 cube butter and 1/4 cup of cooking wine in a fry pan and put in cod and let boil until all is reduce to browned butter. Remove and enjoy. You can add more butter and wine according to amount of fish. You are essentially boiling the fish.

  5. I plan on getting a few organizing things done in the sewing/craft room, sewing my dress and shorts (put that off long enough), cutting the pj bottoms that my friends hubby wants hemmed and hopefully getting those out of the house by Monday. Supposedly there are another 2 pairs if these suit. Problem is I just hate working with the very cheap knit these are made of.

    God bless.

    1. Take cod and a bunch (as much as you want) of butter and 1/2 cup of white wine or cooking wine and boil away until butter browns. salt and pepper. Delicious. Swedes call is poor mans lobster.

  10. Hello! Guess what I did today? Cleaned the entire house! What was I thinking?? You know when you get into that mood? And then I showered and flopped on the couch! I made eggs and toast for dinner, and I am not moving until bed! Have a cozy Sunday, my friend.
