Monday, No more painting for now...

I am happy to say I am leaving my paint brush behind for now.  What a mess.  The kids will be back down sometime this week and they can finish what I have started.  There are 10 doors that have to be painted front and back and they are very time consuming and difficult.  As I am a terrible painter I leave drips all over and have to go back over and over.  I have to really say that I hate it. So happy to be done for a few days at least.  But then I get guilt feeling and I tell myself just to do one door a day.  In 10 days it would be done.  So far have not convinced myself this is necessary. May never convince myself.  But I might convince my children when they show up. :)

Hubs took his folks home yesterday and the trip was awful as the roads and weather were very bad for most of it.  He is coming home today as the High School will be very busy until the 19th. Something going on almost every night.  That will keep him out of trouble, I think.

I have been procrastinating ( can you magazine that?) many must do things around here.  There is so much I want to get done in December, actually before Christmas when the kids show up.  Don't have any idea how I am going to get is all done.  I will try if I can just not procrastinate.

Here is today's list of must do:

1. empty fridge and throw away leftovers ( Actually take to chickens)
2. mail two packages
3. pile of pants to patch (this has been on the list for a week!)
4. make two aprons ( 5 must be mailed by this Friday)
5. check on house taxes
6. pay online bills
7. pay all other bills
8. take a load to Lil sis's to dry
10. alter rabbit costume
11. alter folly dress
12. alter blue ball gown
13. box up all Thanksgiving to take to storage.
14. call for a fitting on a custom order for Wednesday
15. go to Jo anns for a few supplies

I think this should keep me going today.  The dance recital is this weekend so some of the above is costumes. I want them out today.

Have a great and productive day staying positive while you are in the negative.

Kim

    1. I grew up in very old houses and I swear every room on the ground floor had five doors leading to it.

  2. When I was younger it was easier to paint, these days I will leave it to someone else. LOL

    1. I would like to if you could get someone else to do it. Can't even get contractors to show up.

  3. Hi Kim, Do you use the Ibotta app for your Joann trips? Usually it is 5-10% back per trip and all you have to do now is scan your receipt. Just an idea. :)

  4. I take the doors off the hinges and paint them laying down.I also use a small sponge roller and an artist brush for the decorative parts.I was about 5 when I started helping Daddy paint doors and this is how he did it. I'm over 60

  5. If you don't like to paint - then don't. Let someone else do it and you will be much happier, and your talents can be utilized else where!
That is quite a list for the day!! I see #10 and chuckle - all I can think of is Raplphie this time of the year. LOL

    1. Yes Ralphie did not get done yesterday, but I had other things fall in it's place. I cannot get a painter to answer my calls or to show up. It is so frustrating. Believe me I've tried.

  6. I hate painting too Kim. I always end up doing it myself because there is never any money to pay someone to come do it ... but I get it everywhere too. Even on my eyelash! My late Father was a painter all his life & I always think he is up there watching me & shaking his head at the mess i make.

  7. I think your list is enough to keep you out of trouble. I'm a world-class procrastinator. Not that I'm bragging. I spend more energy worrying about getting things done, deciding I don't want to do them today, than it would take to JUST DO IT.

    1. I know. My great grandfather used to sit in this rocking chair and smoke a pipe. Finally he would say,"Well I got the thinking part done, now I have the doing part and it is much harder." I finally understand what he means.

  8. I say--let the kids do it as part of their gift to you. Of course, we know they will not do it for a gift, but just because. Painting one a day just prolongs the agony and the mess.

Do you know someone who paints well who would trade Christmas breads or cookies or whatever, maybe sewing for painting. I did that for typing. i traded my friend typing a paper for making pair of pants for her, AND i had the material for the pants. I hate typing that much. Now, i do not mind typing at all.

I was going to suggest taking the doors off the hinge and using a small roller in addition to using a brush. But, i see that has been suggested.

If you have drips and messes, quit loading the brush with so much paint.
