Wednesday, Sewing, sewing

This is how I felt today, but the picture needs a crying baby in  the middle.  Both Oliver and Kelsa were down today and Oliver was a wee bit cranky, but I got him to sleep and was able to get some sewing done. I altered two bridesmaid dresses and I started pressing a huge frosting wedding dress.  Tomorrow I will press the bridesmaid dresses and finish steaming the wedding dress.  Then I just have to bustle it.

Both the girls took home some of the turkey soup that I made into a thicker gravy and I made homemade biscuits. They were thrilled, that they did not have to make dinner, and I was thrilled to not waste the soup.

I just got a txt from our Bishop that there has been a death in the ward.  So I need to make a meal for ten for tomorrow. I will do a shrimp and mushroom pasta, with a tossed salad.  I have a cake mix and frosting and then will stop and get warm french bread and ice cream at the store. So between sewing and clients I will have more than enough to do.  Daughter will be bringing Kelsa and Will down at 3:30 as she teaches tomorrow night. This is the first meal I have taken in since covid started.

Both daughters took bins of baby clothes into a resale shop while they were down.  I have encouraged them to shop second hand as the babies are growing so fast. Just did my roots, and I really need to get my nails done.  I hate to spend the money, but it is a necessity. I have finally found a place that does them quickly and doesn't argue with me. I want them short enough to play he piano.  They think I am nuts.

I need to think about taking down the Christmas decorations, but think I will wait until next week.  I just want to catch up on sewing.  Have any of you taken down your decorations?

I had a bride in today and I will be rebuilding her mom's 35 year old wedding dress to fit her. This will involve putting gussets in down the bodice sides and into the arms as the dress is too small.  I found lace scraps in my bin to cover where I put in extra fabric. I love remaking wedding dresses.

Have a great and productive day staying positive while you are in the negative.

Kim

  1. You are a very busy lady. I really was hoping that life could slow down a bit for you. I am glad that you love altering wedding dresses...that is such a talent to have! My mother altered our Heather's mother's wedding dress to fit her size and restyled it by taking off the huge "butt bow" and the poofy sleeves. Heather looked amazing in it!

    1. I have done a few of those butt bows myself. You know I don't feel busy like I used to, but still busy.

  2. I am amazed at the level of skill you have with sewing! That is so fabulous! I have two toned hair, since I quit dyeing it. I look like a stripped zebra....lol. Most of our court is being held on Zoom this month. Since most folks who get arrested here are young, and techno savvy, so when they bond out of jail they leave their email and phone number, and the link to join their hearings is emailed to them. So far, it has worked out well, and their lawyers also contact them that way, usually. . But this is a small, very rural county, most folks know each others families. I do not think that would work in a big city. The male lawyers and judges are sporting beards and mustaches on Zoom, and the females are not dyeing their hair as often. This is for arraignments, motion hearings, and misdemeanor trials. Jury trials are temporarily postponed. I also quit doing my nails, although I always kept them short when I played piano at church. At this point, I just do not give a flip how I look. I still go to the office, and their are still some courts held in person, but only for emergencies, usually. So, if I looked bad, I am still clean, and in my court suits....lol. Covid numbers are terrible here. So many dying, or are seriously ill. I have known so many to pass including my high school friend this weekend. Stay safe y’all.

    1. I am so sorry. We have high numbers here also, so we are very careful. Courts in Idaho doing the same thing although Jess has to be in the office every day. I have had to dye my hair since i was in my early 20's I greyed very young. My haircolor is whatever is on sale at Wal-mart.

    1. Well I try, but some days I get little done, because I love me a nap.

  5. Hi Kim!
    Happy New Year.
I took down my Christmas decorations yesterday, and gave the rooms a good cleaning. The tree stays up, though. Without everything else around it looks less cluttered, and I love the lights at night. Have a cozy day, and enjoy getting your nails done. I always love that!

  6. We took down our tree before Christmas - we decorate our house, but have everything put away before we head to the coast. I find it too depressing to come home after the holidays, and still see the tree out. It's strange but works for us.

    1. I would do that also if I traveled after the holiday. I would not want to come home to the work and the mess.

  7. After my original, long-term nail technician, most the others argued with me about something. There was no way my daughter could wear my wedding dress. I was tall and slim and she was short and heavy AND, it was a lined, lace sheath with a satin coat-like second piece. Prettier than I am describing, I assure you. I made it, copying a wedding dress in a bride magazine. Anything that could be done to it would lose a lot of style and she did not want that.
