Wednesday, Crappy adds, another rattlesnake

Look at these beautiful, weird flowers.  I call them Dr. Suess flowers.  They last forever, picked them at Lil sis's she does not know what they are either. Oh, no!  You are seeing a doily at my house; I am so out of style..... Also the viola score to Cinderella.

Grocery adds are crap.  I mean real crap!  Thank goodness for a freezer and a storage.  I will not pay $1.29 for chicken, at least not yet.  I might be killing a chicken.

Took elderly neighbor to food bank late yesterday and came home with, two quarts of fresh blue berries, large carrots, zucchini, tomatoes, asparagus, boboli pizza crusts.  I have never tried those, but as they were going to toss them, I took them. I figured the grandkids would love to make their own pizzas.  Also, gallon of milk, three gallons of apple juice, some dried prunes, large bag of fish sticks.  Again, the grandkids will love these. Also, a large bag of mild shredded cheese. Two large bags of apples, which I will peel, slice and freeze for pies, those that we don't eat. So well worth the drive and gas to help the neighbor who does not drive anymore. Well that sounded bad, I would take her regardless even if I did not reap any benefits.

While at Lil sis's last night Hub's sent me a picture of a snake in our yard he had killed.  Great!

He had just been reading, sitting in the red chair.  He often reads out there out of the sun. After doing a perimeter check he found the hole dug under the snake fence where the critter got in and he plugged it.  He could see the snakes tracks in the dirt before it got to the river rock.

Now the grandsons that are due in next week are so excited.  I told hubs we have to make sure they don't go looking for snakes.

Sluggy, quit worrying they will just kiss your toes when you are out sitting in a lawn chair. I'm telling you guys Slug's is kind of a baby about snakes.

I have to steam today and not out my ears.  I spend a great deal of time ironing and steaming gowns.  It is part of my service, and I am not fond of this part. I have two large ball gowns to steam and three dresses. I would rather be sewing. In fact, if I could pay someone to do the steaming I would.

We just got back from Hub's consult, and he has to have surgery.  So we should be meeting with the surgeon within the month.  We feel good about this.  We could do radiation, and that might be a better option with Hubs dementia issues, but once radiation is done and the cancer comes back it is not an option and can lead to not good results. As hubs has an older brother and an Uncle that had a real hard time with this, we just feel this is the best route.

Well, I am off to get some steaming done and some sewing. I cooked up a large bag of pollock yesterday and there is plenty left for dinner along with salad from the garden. SO I don't have to cook.

By the way I was supposed to have the kids last night and all day today, but daughter decided I was too busy and gave me a reprieve. Thank my lucky stars. She wanted me to pick up the kids after I went to the food bank yesterday and I said no as I was so behind, and she would have to bring them down in the evening. I rarely say no so she knew I was overwhelmed.

Okay I swear I am going to get at least two dresses done, and at least two out today if it kills me.

Have a great and productive day staying positive while you are in the negative.

Kim

  1. The flowers are allium and they are lovely. I’ve never brought them into a vase like that. Look great. Curious, do you take the grandkids so the daughter can work? Does that make sense since you also work? Curious.

    1. Thank you. I was going to look them up but never got to it. Yes I watch kids so she can work. Both the girls have schedules that switch all the time and so do their husbands, there for day care is almost impossible. After covid day care is hit or miss here. It does impede my work, but I would rather have them here than at a cut rate day care.

  2. Did you smell the large ball flowers? They smell like garlic and have garlic underneath the ground.
Tommy and sluggy can climb each other since he is terrified of snakes, even on tv. The kids will love snake hunts in your yard.
Since you would take the lady anyway, this is just a sweet bit for you. Food is always good as a reward whether sought or not.
Do people ever bring back a dress to have you steam it after they have wrinkled it. If so, I hope you charge again.
I think your daughter is catching on. But, what about the teen sitter?

    1. PP, I hope you see this bc I was unable for some reason to comment on your blog. Your friend who has the legal divorce issue needs to talk to Legal Services of Alabama in her area, or call the University of Alabama School of law and ask for the Domestic Violence Clinic or the Elder Law , and explain she is being abused and is elderly or contact the Alabama State Bar and ask for their free legal referral or pro bono referral. 2. 800-354-6154 I think is the Alabama State Bar general number. Sorry about the punctuation and typos etc. in a hurry, visiting family, but wanted to make sure your friend, if in Alabama was directed to hopefully helpful free resources. Cindy in the South

    3. Thanks. Cindy in the South. I made two calls today and emailed someone. I have gotten no response. But, tomorrow, I will work on it again. She has told me her horrors for 6 hours over the last three days. She also gave a mutual friend a POA because "he will be loud and make the judge listen." This POA is filled out and signed but not filed. I think he might file it and take everything she has. But, I could not put that on my blog. She is reducing herself to a child with no power. She said she contacted the state bar and no one returned her call. Right now, she is being pressured to sign for the sale of their home/ Everyone gets paid and she gets scraps. If you have anything to tell me, not on my blog but by email--pparsimony@yahoo.com. I am glad you posted a comment here, but Kim might like it elsewhere...lol. Thanks so much. She is in Double Springs but staying in Huntsville right now.

    4. My email is flaking out on my phone, I need new phone and when I get off vacation I will get one, but for some reason I can comment here and I hope Kim forgives me. Lonnie Spann is a private lawyer out of Winfield, near Double Springs. Ronald Strawbridge, attorney out of Fayette, not too far away, might have some suggestions also. Mose Lee Sudduth, out of Vernon in Lamar co might help. I am not sure if Tim Wadsworth near Double Springs, is still practicing, but he is state representative in that area, a good lawyer, and might have some suggestions. You can find all their numbers on alabar.org., under member search. Maybe also call Cumberland School of Law at Samford University, and see if they have a free legal help clinic. Idk but they might. 5. Also, she can file a protection from Abuse, if he has ever been abusive , and that, well at least in South Alabama, is filed at the Circuit Clerk’s office and they keep the petitions there. Double Springs is in Winston county and she could call the circuit clerk’s office there and ask the procedure that county uses for PFA’s, Protection From Abuse petitions. Cindy again.

  3. My son had a rat snake in his house about a month ago, the youngest son who lives in southern half of the state.Since I have a son in the northern, middle , and southern part of the state, I always state which one so folks don’t get confused…. Lol. Oldest son in the northern part of the state had a black racer on his doorstep a week before the youngest found the one in his house. I think black racer snakes are cute. I am not amused by rattlesnakes, copperhead, coral, or cottonmouth water moccasins. Venomous snakes make me flip out. Cindy in the South

  5. So sorry that your hubby will have to have surgery, but it sounds like the best option for him. Prayers for a good outcome.
Ugh snakes. Hope you don't have any more come visiting.

  7. Hello! Praying for all to go well with the surgery, my friend. And that snake! Oh my. oh man. I hear you on the steaming. When Madison was first opening her bridal store, I volunteered to help out. I offered to do the steaming. Big Mistake! Ugh! Take care and stay cool!
