I did not think I could have a busier day than Wednesday. But yesterday was a blur. I stayed up so late on Wednesday night to finish beading a dress and then I got up later than usual on Thursday and I had a rip roaring day of appointments and pick ups. I also had a wedding dress to finish for today. None stop appointments. The garden still is not planted. I am frustrated and just shaking my head.
I was frantically hemming the wedding dress last night at 11:30. I took mom out to Wal-mart last night about 8:30 just to get her out of the house. I picked up a few more garden plants while there. Don't know if they will ever get planted.
So today I get a call from Hub's cousin, can I watch the boys she has lost her sitter and needs to go on a field trip? So we have a 1 year old and a 4 year old here. They are very good . People were coming to the shop at 9, (Um I open at 10). I had a new bridal appointment at 10:00. Mom wakes up because of all the early noise(boys are noisy if you didn't already know this) comes to the shop door from her bathroom. She opens the door in her nightgown realizes I have a client then pulls the door shut really fast and throws herself off balance, falls and cracks her head on the cement floor under the linoleum.
I am at my wits end. Hub's is upstairs with boys, I holler for him. My clients are in a state of shock.Hub's is sitting on the floor in the bathroom with her. Now she starts to vomit. The police officer from across the street comes into the shop looking for his pants which are not done. He helps Hub's get mom up and does a bunch of tests on her and says , we do not need to call an ambulance.
She has a HUGE bump on the back of her head and is dizzy. I have her in bed with a cold pack and she continues to get sick. Her eyes are fine so I keep checking on her and I won't let her sleep so she is mad at me. What is new? Hurried and fixed police pants and ran then across the street. I have so much to do for today. But I have appointment until 6 and then have to run to the studio to work with Peter Pan's shadow for an hour.
If the new uniforms for the police don't come in soon, I will be using bubble gum to fix them. I don't mind altering them once they are in, but the patching and trying to keep them running when they need to be replaced is an every day commitment. I have 1/2 naked officers sitting in the dressing room on a regular basis as I do a quick mend to get them back in the field.
I know I can do this.
Have a great and productive day staying positive while you are in the negative.
Kim
Mmmm, with her throwing up, I would have called an ambulance. It is a good thing you are free to take in baby sitting on the spur of the moment. half-naked cops? What do they do if an emergency happens and they need to leave...lol. I hope your mother gets better soon.
ReplyDeleteI agree that perhaps Mom should have gone to doctor to get checked out.
DeleteShe still needs to be checked if you think she should have been checked.
DeleteShe has had so many concussions. We take her in and they do really nothing and send her home with instructions. I know the instructions. I followed them and she is doing better. Besides without a DNR on her records they don't really do much, but keep her comfortable. I can keep her comfortable.
DeleteIf Mom is still vomiting take her to the hospital. Closed head injuries can be really bad, vomiting and especially projectile vomiting is a sign something is not good.
ReplyDeleteOh Anne I realize this and it is not our first Rodeo.
DeleteI am so sorry - I don't know how you get ANYTHING done, much less everything you do get done - I get tired just READING about all you do in 1 day!!! Hang in there, this too shall pass.....remember, if you didn't have any work you would be much more stressed!!!!
ReplyDeleteI realize that. Friday took the cake however.
DeletePlease tell me that the half naked cops are cute--that could be worth the extra work! I think you should take your mom in, if only to make certain she's okay.
ReplyDeleteShe is okay and yes some of them are cute.
DeleteI'd have your mom's PCP check her out. Especially with the elderly, you just never know.
ReplyDeleteWe have an appointment scheduled.
DeleteSending prayers and hugs to you.. Praying for things to settle down for you soon.. Also, that your mom is doing better.
ReplyDeleteThanks Judy, Mom is much better.
DeleteI'm sorry your mom fell. Hopefully, she will bounce back quickly from this injury.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like your shop is very busy. I suppose that's a good thing, if you can hang in there. I hope your week improves. I'm sure it will be a busy one ahead if your mom needs more attention and care.
She was non stop on Friday but Lil sis rescued me on Saturday thank goodness.
DeleteWow! I think you've been busier than busy can be!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see photos of some of the dresses you make.
Be blessed!
Laura of Harvest Lane Cottage
Thanks Laura.
DeletePlease get Mom checked at a health care provider's office or the hospital. Peace of mind that she didn't suffer any ill effects from a potentially dangerous fall is more important.
ReplyDeleteWe have done that and she is recovering fine.
DeleteYou have to learn to set limits and say no! Sorry, but I would have nixed babysitting the two little boys. Mom misses the field trip, but that is not the end of the world, and it's also not your falut. Your world is constantly spinning out of control, but YOU can fix this. If I were in your shoes, I would have had a breakdown by now.
ReplyDeleteIsabella don't think I did not think of that when she called and you are right.
DeleteMy late husband was always telling me to pace myself. Maybes that's what you need to have someone tell you.
ReplyDeleteYes, and she does not have to save the world! It is enough on your plate to run your business and look after your mother. When your grown daughters are sick, you do not have to go to them and take care of the situation. You do not have to watach your neighbor's children. We figured this out as parents and they can too. I thought you sold the dance business. Time to get out of that! They ha vde to stand on thier own feet. The thing is, people will not step up if you are enabling them!
DeleteThese things are all true in a sense. I do need to pace myself and the studio does need to stand alone. I will go take care of my sick kids when I feel it is necessary.
DeleteI hope your mom is OK. I hope the half naked cops are cute.
ReplyDeleteMom is doing better. Some of the cops are cute.
DeleteOh, Kim. Let's have some time learning the word no. With you neing a full time carer and running a business, I'm appalled anyone thinks you can take on another task, especially on short notice. Hubs cousin could have skipped field trip-maybe group sizes each needed to be a child larger. Maybe police force goes and buys basic black pants at Kohls or Walmart until uniform comes in. Let the dance studio survive on it's own or fail miserably. If new owner wants to succeed, she'll figure it out.You can't solve these minor first world problems for others that really are major burdens for you. Sorry, but this post really fired me up.
ReplyDeleteSam you are right. I actually dumped back on the rehearsal and let costumes go I could not get done. I felt bad, but I have to think of myself. One of my cousins older boys has a pretty bad case of Autism spectrum. If she does not go he cannot go which just singles him out more. So I caved. It was just an over the top day and I am really trying to think of how I can let some of this go.
DeleteChildren here have an aid who is paid by the system who accompanies who have autism spectrum problems. That should be available in their schools, too.
DeleteOh goodness, I hope your Mother is recovering and doing welll.
ReplyDeleteMom is doing fine. Thanks Michelle
DeleteHalf-naked cops. Sorry I know way too many police officers. The though makes me want to barf on my desk.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry your mom got hurt. I had to laugh at the half naked cops comment. My son is a cop, one of my DIL's father is a retired cop and my uncle was a cop. I ad visions of them all sitting there in a waiting room while you mend their pants. LOL!
