Wow, I had help come in yesterday to be with mom. I was able to sew all afternoon. It was great, but mom was confused. She wanted to know when that person was going to leave as she was tired and wanted a nap. So next week I will have this person come to Lil sis's. I think she thought she had to entertain. She is confused all the time. I really liked this woman and so did mom. I told mom she was here to help, if you are tired you can lay down. Mom still did not get it. Maybe if she is at Lil sis's she will understand.
We had another really bad rain storm last night. It is hard to get out and get yard work done when it is so wet. But believe me we will get our hot dry, dry, dry season soon.I still have major trimming and cutting back to do in the back yard and at least 2 dump runs. But again unless it really drys up today I will not be able to get anything done.
D#2 is coming down this weekend so I get to see my grandson. Yippee! Hubs and I are going out to get a break away dog collar for Rosco and some tags. I also need to replace some summer sandals but I doubt we will be able to find any in town. My feet are my downfall. Arthritis, screws, metal hooks, they all require special comfy shoes which are expensive. " Death begins with you feet", an old Swedish Proverb my dad would often repeat. Actually meant to watch which road you take in life, but for me it has a new meaning.
I have to get at least 2 wedding dresses out next week and 5 bridesmaids dresses along with all the other extras that come in. It will be a busy week. I am blessed with work.
Kinda blue about the weather keeping me inside. I still need to switch winter and summer clothes and shoes around in closets and get rid of things, also I could do some major house work. (Yuck) I also want to clean out Hubs clothes that he does not wear. That will be a fight.
Have a great and productive day staying positive while you are in the negative.
Kim
It may just take some time for your mom to get used to this new person. That makes sense. I'm glad you were able to get so much done, and I hope you enjoy your time with your grandson.
ReplyDeleteI have been cleaning like crazy around here, and working in the yard and garden when I can steal a few moments for it. My husband and I did manage to do a few yard sales this morning, and I found several things that are on my list. My youngest daughter really, really needs some clothes, and I found a few that I hope will fit when she comes home and tries them on. If not, I'm only out about $5, since they were cheap and I didn't buy many.
He was so fun, and mom is mom.
DeleteWhat happened to your feet that involved screws and hooks? Sounds painful.
ReplyDeleteArtificial joints and they hold the bones together in my big toe joints and yes at times they are very painful.
DeleteI love the Swedish proverb, andI share your (literal) pain on the shoe front.
ReplyDeleteHave you ever tried shoes by Drew or Orthofeet? They are *not* inexpensive, but are well-made enough to last several seasons.
No I just do Dansko.
DeleteI've never heard the proverb that death begins with your feet. But as a nurse who has cared for many dying patients, I learned to look at the soles of the feet for signs a purple and mottled discoloration, which would indicate the circulatory system was shutting down and death was near. Interesting.
ReplyDeleteMy dad's people took in 100 Jews after the war and he said their feet were in the most terrible condition. As dad was born with club feet he had many surgeries as a child and his mother hired a surgeon to come and stay at the old place to take care of the foot problems of these prisoners.
DeleteGlad to hear you're getting some relief and help with your mom! Gives you more time to WORK :) I like how you say you are "blessed with work." Most wouldn't think of it in that way. Send your rain this way if you want - we could use it!
ReplyDeleteI kid you not it is a deluge almost daily. I don't know if it is a relief as her complaining is worse.
DeleteI hope your mom gets used to her caretaker soon and I hope you have fun with your grandson!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Michelle, but mom is just traveling farther down the dementia train. I had a great time with my boy.
