Wednesday, I thought slavery was outlawed?

Therefore, Sissie is a question????? I just want you to know that if you check the list on the last post, because you are all so intrigued, am I right? You will find most of it done.  Yes, in two days being driven by this creature called Sissie one can accomplish things.

Monday, I was able to cut up two pumpkins and roast and then puree them and freeze.  I have enough for 8 pumpkin pies.  Sissie inventoried bake goods as that is her jam. My eyes would roll back in my head, and I would be heading for a good place to nap where Sissie could not find me if I had to inventory anything.

Dan and I did more Quilling which drove Sissie crazy.  We also went out and purchased airtight cookie containers from a good will store while Sissie was having fun cleaning out freezers. Her idea of fun is a bit skewed.

Dan and I also dropped off goodies to my buddy, while we were on our way to Joanns to get supplies.

Yesterday Sissie and I cleaned out and culled my closet.  Something we have been saying we were going to do since she moved here.  It actually only took us about 3 hours combined. I was shocked as I thought it would take all day. We were able to take over 60 pieces of clothing to goodwill.  Also, a butt load of toys and grandkid paraphernalia, that they had either outgrown or had no more interest in using. It is still a full closet, and I have decided no more clothing.  When your size really does not change you can have clothes from 20 years ago.

Today I am sewing as I have a few things that need to go out.  Also, took I in a wedding dress that someone else tried to alter and did not really alter so I get the redo. I have a sweater and a coat to put zippers in and a few pairs of pants to shorten.  Just an easy day if I can motivate myself to do all the items.

Sissie is out and about buying loss leaders for us.  We are trying to stock up on butter which is so expensive. We need a lot for out Holiday baking.  We have whittled the list down to about 18 items.  But traditionally Swedes make 36 kinds of cookies and candies and desserts at Christmas.  Three for each of the 12 days of Christmas. I just cannot do that, nor can I eat all of it.

I have a piano lesson tonight and then dinner at Sissies.  I am eating better now that she is here.  No more Pop tarts, or Potato chips for dinner. I did stop by a veggie stand when I was driving home from Twin Falls.  I picked up a large box of spuds for $5.00, and 25 # of onions for $5.00.  So .20 cents a pound can't beat that price.

Now I have to sew.

Monday, Kim is back like a bad dream!

I had a wonderful time in Florida!  Slug and Dan that is our next trip! We rent a car, stay with my sister-in-law and her husband and then peruse the coast.  So fun, so warm.

The shop is really empty not that work is not coming in as it is, and I will have to do it but not today.

Today I will quill with my brother-in-law.  We have made a terrible mess of the dining table, and it is driving neat nik Sissy crazy.  So, I think we will continue in that vein.  Sissy has organized my nuts, as in the nuts in my freezer. I don't think she has enough to do.

We are getting ready for Christmas baking.  Of course we have to do this in an organized way.... said no one ever!!!!

Sissie is counting the pounds of butter and making lists of what we need.  Panicking about how we will store it all.  Not allowing me to eat any of it! So, my revenge is to start one hundred projects at a time.

1. let's clean out my closet

2. let's cook up the two pumpkins on the porch before they freeze

3. let's inventory the baking supplies

4. let's continue quilling with Dan and making a mess

5. let's blog!

6. let's go buy airtight storage for cookies

7. let's take a nap!

8. don't forget to pick Kelsa up at 4:55 from dance

9. let's clean out the two freezers

10. let's run to a friend's house for fun!

You can now see why I drive Sissie crazy.  But I am so much FUN!!!!

Missed you guys.

What not to do when cooking!

Kay here and this is a picture of my left hand which I burned badly last Wednesday night while frying shrimp in my Fry Daddy!

I was tired and dropped the last six shrimp and the oil splashed back and "Voila", hurt like heck, and throbbed until about three in the morning.  I immediately grabbed ice and iced it down for hours while Kim finished dinner.  Three glasses of wine and two Aleve and I was able to get to sleep.  I went up to Kim's so She could doctor me and also to get her out of Bed so she could leave town by nine A.M. on Thursday morning.   She made it out by 9:09 so I did a good job, even while injured!

Of course, said hand blistered terribly, but I have been ever vigilant in not using it and it is drying up.  Wow what a dummy!

It is now Monday the 4th of November, and I am up at Kim's creating havoc in her kitchen and trying not to do damage to myself.

We have been craving Meatloaf and Sissy and I stumbled onto an 80/20 ground beef sale for 2.50 per pound and I bought six pounds and made four meatloaves which will feed Daniel and I and Kim for at least six meals.  Love a cold meatloaf sandwich with a thin slice of onion and mustard.

This will freeze beautifully, and I only cooked meatloaf halfway so I can pop it back in the oven to finish off.  It is now cooled and wrapped and in the freezer.

As there is no rest for the wicked, I proceeded to make....

Four pans of stuffed cabbage rolls (three pictured, fourth still in oven) which will feed Daniel and I for eight meals with sides of rice pilaf or a buttered parsley noodle of some sort. These are cooling and I will wrap and freeze.

More below!

The last pan of stuffed cabbage on top and my mother's recipe for porcupine meatballs on the bottom.  Those two pans of meatballs are at least four meals.  I am filling Kim's freezer as I had purchased 10 pounds of 73/27 ground beef for 1.99 per pound. Greasy but the fat is what makes it so delicious.

I am now very tired and must clean up Kim's kitchen and it is a disaster.

Still have five pounds of ground meat in the fridge and another head of steamed cabbage, but as I said I am tired and when I am tired, I do stupid things, like injure myself.

Our Cousin that we have not seen since before Covid is coming to town this weekend and both Kim and Lil Sister will be gone, and I will be taking care of Lil Sisters neurotic Dog and Daniel will have Roscoe so Cousin and Husband will be staying with me ay Lil Sisters house.  I will take them on a tour of all homes.

My Cousin requested my French Dip sandwiches (which are a tradition, as I have perfected the technique).  Dan helped me (due to being injured) to get down my large Le Creuset and we cooked two eye of rounds (yes got them on sale) and then chilled them and sliced the roast (cooked very rare) with our Krups slicer, which is a pain in the butt to clean but Husband did that for me.  We were able to get at least 24 good sandwiches from the process, again, cooled and wrapped individually with small wax paper rounds and frozen to be dropped into boiling Aus jus at the last minute.  I will serve with broiled ciabatta rolls and chips, small side salad.  One meal out of the way.

Breakfast/brunch will be eggs benedict and hashbrowns.  We may go out the second night, but I am going to thaw three New Yorks Steaks just in case and cook those if we want to stay in.  So, my Menu is planned, and I love that.  I do not want to stress with guests, I want to enjoy them.

It is now 3:32 and I must go and clean up Kim's kitchen...

Kim is having a grand time with her eldest daughter, and they will be leaving for Florida on Wednesday to visit Joels youngest sister.  I want Sissy to have a great time and just take a break and relax.  She needs it.

Now off to the salt mines....I mean the dishes!

Hugs;
Kay
