I know a little sacrilegious, but I feel this way at times.
So that wedding dress from hell is gone. Thank goodness as I wanted to light a match under it. Took me 4 hours to complete. Most of it is hand sewing....
Needless to say, my neck is a little sore.
But onto more important stuff.
Kay was leaving yesterday morning, and before she got far out of town, Dan called her to say his heart was acting up. She returned and he was in A-fib. So, I got to babysit Dan as she left town again. Made him stay up here in the spare room so I was close if he needed to go back to hospital. Kay has the car.
It was a long day yesterday, and I made a new sewing rule. I no longer line bodices on corset gowns. If you buy a sheer corset gown, find someone else or don't buy it. It takes hours of hand sewing and I clearly underbid the dress. I just don't want to do it at any price. There I have spoken.
My neighbor just came over with KiKi or garage cat who has clearly been attacked by a coyote. I believe she is paralyzed on her back half, and I will have to put her down. Just what I need right now. I have her in a kennel in the house with water, but she is not eating or drinking. She does not appear to be in pain. Poor darling.
Called Vet going in at 4:20. If she was in pain, I would have paid for an emergency visit. Oh my, life just throws things at you left and right.
I have three sister missionaries weeding my garden bed right now! Isn't that great! I can so use the outside help. I don't want Dan out in the heat, until we get an all clear on him. Kay should be back tomorrow afternoon.
SO now that my day has been blown up what am I going to do next? Well, the piles. I have been waiting to do these all week. Let's list them just so we know where we are....
1. hem pants, and take in top
2. enlarge waste on pants
3. fix pockets in three pairs of shorts
4. hem a skirt and alter a neckline
5. shorten sleeves on three dress shirts and hem a pair of pants
6. hem 4 pairs of pants
7. put zippers in Indian leggings
8. Alter a pile of tops 5 and fix waist on pants.
Okay can I get this done today? I hope so.
On your mark get set go!
I feel terrible about my cat.
Kim
I'm so sorry for your furry baby. I'm adamant that the wandering cat that adopted my son has to be an inside cat unless she's got someone out with her. I've become too attached. I know some cats are outdoor cats and thrive. Good luck on your oules and keeping Dan from overdoing anything.
ReplyDeleteCat is a miracle, or just a very good actor.
DeleteHow sad about your cat and I hope she isn't in pain. Nature can be so cruel. I hope something can be done to help her.
ReplyDeleteCat is a miracle or a very good actor
DeletePoor kitty - hope it will be ok and not have to be put down.
ReplyDeleteYou know what they say about best laid plans.
Hope Dan is feeling better.
Dan is great, cat up for an academy award.
DeleteI read but rarely comment and I want to say I'm sorry sorry so sorry about KiKi. Heart breaking. And honestly, I'd love to see little anonymous photos of some of these dresses you are working on.
ReplyDeleteI will start some photos when I get back!
DeleteShew, you have enough stress right now. Hope Dan is doing ok, and I hope he won't have to go back to hospital. Safe travels to Kay. Poor Kiki, I'm so sorry. Glad you have that dress finished, and I'm glad you aren't doing any more linings, some things aren't worth it. Good luck with your piles, and I hope things calm down a bit.
ReplyDeleteKathy
Both Kiki and Dan are doing great!
DeleteSo sorry about Dan’s health issues and about your poor cat. Coyotes suck. Cindy in the South
ReplyDeleteI just saw one on top of the ridge.
DeleteThe poor kitty! 🐱 😢
ReplyDeleteI hope and pray that Dan is ok. I’m so glad he has you to help if he needs you.
And I’m glad the wedding dress from hell is gone too. 😂
THe kitty is a wonder, Dan....?
DeleteI am so sorry about your kitty. The poor thing. I hope Dan is okay and that he has you to help him out. Yea for the lady missionaries weeding for you.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
It is nice to have that job done for a while!
DeleteTell your. Dan to investigate electro pulse field heart ablation. It was approved last year. Easier recovery post surgery. My husband is afib free after 20 years. He was on verge of continuous afib. He had cryo heart ablation a year earlier and recovery was difficult. Improvement was minor. Recommend cleveland clinic
ReplyDeleteWell if this does not seem to get better we are on it!
DeletePoor kitty!
ReplyDeleteShe recovered and is up for an academy award
DeleteLook at you all list crossed off while running and dodging life obstacles thrown from every which way!!
ReplyDeleteI know super human right?
DeletePoor kitty! That makes me sad. Sorry about Dan. Hubby has a-fib and thankfully hasn't had an issue in over twenty years. Good for you, for putting you foot down about certain sewing you won't do. So things aren't worth the trouble regardless of how much you might make.
ReplyDeleteAmen to that sister.
DeleteI’m sorry about your kitty, that’s tough. I hope the rest of the week goes better.
ReplyDeleteSue in MN
Well things could always be worse, but I really don't like to live by that strategy.
DeleteI am sad for both you and the garage cat.
ReplyDeleteOn the flip side, I am proud of your vow to decline lining sheer bodices ( Unless you charge enough to cover a months usual alterations. I will do something I don’t like to do if there are enough Benjamins at play)
That is the new motto here.
DeletePoor Kiki! Poor Kim! I feel for you both!
ReplyDeleteI, too, would love to see pictures of the bridal gowns. Especially the one from hell.
--Maxine
Okay will start when I get back.
DeleteWhen the ambulance came when I had afib and drove me with ambulance screaming siren and lights on driving very fast, I ended up in icu. How is it that he is not in such trouble? I do hope he is okay. A woman told me she had a pacemaker when she had afib. I know little about all this.
ReplyDeleteHope kitty is better, one way or another.
Cursed dress!
Practical Parsimony above
DeleteIt was cursed I swear.
DeletePoor kitty. I think it's a fantastic idea to align on what you won't do, and make that clear - save yourself a ton of trouble.
ReplyDeleteoops, that we as me - Hawaii Planner
DeleteWell this one put me over the edge.
DeleteLove to Dan!!
ReplyDeleteHe is doing great. He and I have had fun while Kay has been gone.
ReplyDeleteI just realized how bad that sounded... don't get any ideas, now if it was your Dan.....
ReplyDeleteHello, my friend. So sorry about your kitty. Hugs.
