I have a list of little things that are actually big things that I just don't want to deal with now or at any time. I have a terrible time with procrastination and I always have.
Why do I not just sit down and get them done? I mean some would only take a few minutes and then they would quite biting me.
1. call and set appointment for dog to have shots and nails trimmed. (How hard is this, but then I would have to take him, that is the hard part!) THIS TOO LESS THAN A MINUTE!
2. Call and find out why meds have not been delivered (this is important, but where is the #?) Call In waiting for response less than a minute
3. call pharmacy and reorder meds (I mean 5 minutes) called less than a minute
4. go pay remainder of bills (leave house and run pay these, I mean really) Took 20 minutes 4 bills paid
5. clean out bill bin and get taxes organized and into accountant. (so painful) found everything I need so now have to do it (less than 5 minutes) Why, why do I let things get so big in my head? What is wrong with me? My answer would be, "OH, so many things...)
6. go get bloodwork redone (elevated kidney usage)
Okay I am determined to get a few of these done and I bet it takes me no time at all. I just make things bigger in my mind until they are huge, and I just can't do anything. Such a stupid habit.
I have to pick Kelsa up from school today, I have a bride coming in for a final fitting (I hope), I need to finish up those two little boy's items and do at least something about the list above.
I will report back just how long it takes me to do each item, and I know it will surprise me, and you can think, this woman is a nut, and you would be right.
I want to spend tomorrow working on my house, but is that really going to happen?
In quiring minds....
God is good

I am the same way sometimes. I dread doing something when in reality it only would take a small bit of time to just do it. It happens to all of us I think.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!!
I know and I am the worst about this kind of thing.
DeleteHi! My name is Anne and I am a procrastinator!
ReplyDeleteI came out and told this is Sissie and she gutt rolled.
DeleteI also procrastinate. Mostly things that are cleaning around the house and decluttering. You did get lots of those little things done today, I see.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
I don't have any idea why these things paralyze me so much.
DeleteI’m also a procrastinator. I have a list that I made ages ago and I still haven’t got most of it done. I did mark one item off today. I got my printer working finally!
ReplyDeleteGood for you. One little thing off the list!
DeleteIt's my motto. Why do now when I can waste time on something else.
ReplyDeleteWe are going to embroider that on a pillow.
DeleteI am the same. Especially when it comes to tax time. I always procrastinate. And it always goes much easier than I have blown up in my mind. Same thing with going to the clinic for my INR finger poke. They finally made it possible to make an appointment for simple INR lab work, online, so I don't have to call and sit on hold for what sometimes feels like forever.
ReplyDeleteYou're not alone with the procrastination. I think women are prone to doing this because we have a huge mental list that never really gets completely finished, not to mention the written lists.
I still haven't made arrangements for my dad's cemetery marker that is free via the VA and he passed in June of 2024. I know. I am a terrible person. It is the last thing on the list of his affairs. I put it off the first year as there were so many other things going on and then I don't even really know where 2025 went, but before you know it, the weather was too cold to get it installed, so didn't get it done. This year, when the weather gets warmer and they can pour cement and the snow is gone, I will make my appointment and get the marker chosen and get it installed.
See, you're not alone and believe me, there are many things on my list that don't get done. My next inside project is to go through many, many books and donate, hopefully, many to our library for them to sell for more new books or equipment. I can do this. I've done it before and i feel more determined this time to part with many books. Fingers crossed.
You do a great job with all of the things on your list, mental, paper or blog. Don't beat yourself up. You are a powerhouse. A warrior. I know you've got this. Ranee
So keeping Joel in the closet for over a year was okay?
ReplyDeleteI'm sure he saw the humor in that and besides, what's wrong with keeping him close by? My dad was cremated and added to the same burial spot with my mom. This, despite the fact that he had been married twice since their divorce, plus another relationship. Even though married, he visited my mom in the nursing home and paid for her marker. He asked me if I thought it was ok to be buried with her and I told him that it would be nice for us, if it was okay with him. Obviously, it was okay with him. We couldn't ask mom, but to my knowledge, she has not kicked his box of ashes out of the spot. Sometimes, finding the humor in things, helps us survive everything else. God gave us a sense of humor so why not use it? Have a good day. Ranee
