Too many demands on my time this week, barring doctor visits and sewing. So, I am cutting my cloth to fit the time. No homemade treats for book club, I bought them, something I would never normally do.
I am using the few minutes in between normal waiting times to get things done. So far it is working. Just have to continue using the small moments.
Finally, the cardiologist called and I am scheduled for Friday morning. It will be my 5th trip to the doctor in a week. But maybe get some answers before I leave.
I was able to get a really hard wedding dress done yesterday and I have another being picked up today. Then the one I have been working on will be picked up tomorrow. I started another wedding dress yesterday and I will finish that today and then start the next one. My goal was to get 4 done before I leave. That might not happen as I have several other prom-like dresses to get out by Friday. If I don't finish the 4th wedding dress, I ca always call and tell her it is 1/2 way done that way they worry less. Also, no new work in until I get back. If Sissie wants to take in work, she can do that is fine, but I am at my limit for now.
Tomorrow, I have a mammogram in the morning which is always a treat as I have no boobs (not talking about late spouse) and the stretching of my skin is horrid.
I am trying to get the house cleaned up and keep it clean so I am not running around like a mad fool tomorrow, which will be a busy day. Sissie is with me all day today and that helps with the stress level as she mows through the easy stuff.
We took Dan out to dinner last night for his birthday and Sissie and I split a sandwich. It was very good and we had a nice time.
Well, I am off to set the world on fire or my sewing machine whichever comes first.
What technique do you use when you have too much to do?
God is good

Generally speaking, when I have too much to do, I procrastinate some more. As deadlines approach, I do those items and then procrastinate more until something else comes due. This week it was finishing my taxes. I mailed them yesterday.
ReplyDeleteDid you happen to teach at LHS in the 90s? Both of my kids graduated in 1997 and my daughter, who was in special ed., was fairly well known around the school. You might have known her.
I am sure I did, I was coaching at that time. My eldest graduated in 1999
DeleteCan I write to you off-blog or can i just begin a post NOT FOR PUBLICATION and it wouldn't be published? It would be neat if you and my kid(s) knew each other.
DeletePlease don't over do it.
ReplyDeleteMe? said with sarcasm but I am trying to be better.
DeleteSay no.
ReplyDeleteNo! I love that word, just don't use it often enough.
DeleteBought treats was a great call. I'm glad you're prioritizing your medical appointments while juggling so much. Not knowing your finances, I can't do recommendations on saying no to work, but glad you'll get a break.
ReplyDeleteIf people are willing to wait until I get back that is fine. I can always spend money:)
DeleteGood call on purchasing the treats for book club. Quite often I leave something for the next day I don't have as much to do, but you always seem to have so much happening with your sewing.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Well I am the one that put the 4 wedding dresses out this week on myself and it may only be 3.
DeleteI try to work in fifteen/thirty minute increments then do something i WaNT to do not what i HAVE to do. Back and forth until i’m done. It’s my own little reward system.
ReplyDeleteI do some of that it really motivates me.
DeleteSo proud of you for learning to say NO and making your health and your plans your priority. As well, buying treats is 100% acceptable. Others require homemade, they can make 'em, right??? :-)
ReplyDeleteMy sentiments exactly.
DeleteI came in to work at 6AM today instead of 7AM because I have too much to do. I'm just putting my nose down and getting the work done. Trudging through.
ReplyDeleteBut someone texted me yesterday and asked if I would fill in on Wednesday nights teaching the kids classes at church. I was honest and told her I didn't think I have the mental capacity to do that right now. I realize I am near my breaking point. I'm stressed and overwhelmed.
We have to prioritize ourselves at some point.
Good for you, I was called to speak, and I said no too much going on right now but would be glad to do it when I got back. The Lord still loves us.
DeleteDo you know anything about Linda? Has she permanently stopped blogging? Nothing from her since last Thanksgiving, except the briefest note that Tommy had died.
ReplyDeleteNo don't know a thing. I worry about her. I certainly pray for her.
DeleteI know it was hard for you to take bought treats but sometimes we have to protect our time and energy so good for you. You have to take care of yourself if you want to be able to take care of others. Have a great trip!!
ReplyDeleteI know, I am trying to get smarter, especially with the health thing. Drat!
