I think we are ready, still have to go get Ice and figure out how to fit everything in and not leave a kid tied to the top of the car. But it is a thought.
I have heavily watered everything and have given the chickens extra food. Called a neighbor to check chickens on Saturday as we will be home late.
Dan and I scared another baby marmot in our garden area yesterday and found another place where the little turd crept in. Now I have to replace all the green cabbage plants. I think we did it this time. I swear all I do is fight weeds and critters. I know I have said this before, but it needs to go on a T-shirt.
Sissie is keeping Roscoe, and she refuses to help with the chickens. Such a Princess. I wonder if she will water? I am afraid to ask.
I did get quite a bit of sewing done yesterday, but not all, just too many interruptions. But I did get all the planning and shopping done, with Sissie and Dan's help. Sissie hates camping, she also hates watching someone get ready to camp.
Ran to take a piano lesson last night in the mist of all the chaos. No new song added as it is summer, and we have to work out the choir schedule of when everyone is in town. What Sundays I will be gone etc.
Well wish me luck, that I won't get eaten by mosquitoes. Not worried about bears. Last time we went camping Signe' and I went on a 5 mile hike and we took the wrong pass back and ended with an 11 mile hike. We will not do that again.
Do any of you camp? If you do is it tent, or camper?
Have a great and productive day
God is good
Kim
Kim, we always tent camped. Priest Lake was our fave. We camped once at Hell's Gate and a family skunks came into our campsite. Fortunately they left before any damage was done. For a few years, when we lived in Oregon, we had a used (VERY used) tent trailer which is as much trouble as a tent because all of your storage is on your hands and knees. Also, I always washed dishes outside. Don't remember if it had a sink.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad I found your blog because we are neighbors (kinda, sorta). I have two questions:
(1) How long does it take you to make the average wedding dress? I can't even imagine the amount of sewing you do in a day. Shortening a pair of jeans is about my limit.
(2) Is Applebee's in the old Red Lobster building?
I hope you have a lot of fun camping. It's a lot of work for Mom but you will have so many happy family memories. OF COURSE it is fun for them--Mom does all the work!
--Maxine aka mikemax
I have only made wedding dresses for family, and it is a labor of love often taking over a week. I only alter for clients. Applebee's is not in the red lobster building but up above in its own building on Thain grade. I have camped at Priest Lake it is cold there.
DeleteI am an excellent camper in a condo on the beach or at the Crow Plaza in Portland
ReplyDeleteSupposed to say Crown but obviously I am a much better camper than I am a typist.
DeleteA friend had 3 boys in about 4 years...bing, bing, bing! She told me her idea of camping was to take her microwave to the Holiday Inn.
DeleteI do not love camping, but my grandkids do and I will make the sacrifice for them and only them!
DeleteIt has been ages since truly camped and not quite as long as ages that I slept in a tent with the littles before the big cabin was built with room for all. But, you lit a fire for me and after I read your post and Sharon's I asked my sister who is also a widow if she would be up for it and she is a go! We are looking at either camping cabins or minimally we will get cots and neither of us will sleep on the ground, but not opposed to a tent. Wish us luck in finding a coupe week nights in a pretty spot.
ReplyDeleteYou are blessed to have a family cabin, but then you have to have the family and that may not be a blessing.
DeleteStarted out tent camping, then graduated to having a camper. We always camped in the same place with friends - so the camper stayed there. I really did enjoy tent camping. Crazy I know.
ReplyDeleteHave fun!!!
I think tent camping is a little more work than a camper and much less expensive. So I tolerate it.
DeleteI used to camp a lot but always at a state park of COE which all had showers and bathrooms and swimming area. I don’t camp anywhere I cannot shower. I am lame. Cindy in the South
ReplyDeleteI don't blame you ,we were all so dirty when we got home.
DeleteTent camped with the Girl Guides, Pathfinders and Rangers. Also with Harvey when we were much younger. We then purchased a small tent trailer and camped for a number of years with that. Now camping is in a cabin somewhere in a provincial or national park.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
I think I would like to camp in a cabin. We will see!
DeleteI did tent camping in my early 20's. Hubby and I got together and tried camping, by then I was almost 30 and said, "no thanks." I'm a spoiled princess and like a hot shower and an indoor toilet.
ReplyDeleteI am so with you, but I sacrifice for kids.
DeleteI grew up camping and continued with my family. We just bought a small camper, getting too old to do the tent thing. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteWe had a camper when I was in high school and I thought it was just as much work as the tent.
DeleteAwww I loved camping growing up! I haven't done much as an adult, but one time my kids slept out in the backyard on the trampoline. I wasn't too worried because we have a good privacy fence. Only one of them lasted the whole night outside haha! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteMy kids would sleep out on the tramp when they were little. Good memory
DeleteI have never been camping but am quite sure I would hate it. Mosquitoes love me. My allergies are exacerbated by night air. I need ac. I won't walk to a bathroom! I can rough it in a Holiday Inn, thank you. I need a bed at this stage in my life.
ReplyDeletePractical Parsimony above.
DeleteThe mosquitos were horrid so I can understand!
DeleteI hope you have loads of fun and no tying kids to the top of the car. 😂
ReplyDeleteWe almost had to .
DeleteHere's to a great camping trip. And, in answer to yoru question, nope, do NOT camp.
ReplyDeleteYou are a smart woman!
DeleteI haven't camped in many years and I don't think I would enjoy it much now. A cabin is as rustic as I'm willing to get now.
ReplyDeleteI am thinking a cabin next time.
