Thursday, Potty training

Well, Kelsa arrived last night and this morning we started potty training.  So far, she is training me. We have had 4 accidents, or on purposes, I can't figure out which.  I have had one successful attempt.

We ran to Wal mart for more training pants as we only had 6 pairs, also more socks as I ran out.  Here she is on her 3rd episode of wet shaking her finger at me and telling me she is not wet. The wash machine is going strong.

Okay 5 accidents.....  This is slow going I tell you.

Do you see the ottoman by Kelsa?  I just recovered that as we old folks need something to put our feet up on. I need one and Aunty needs one.

I am slowly getting things done in the shop.  Not nearly as gang busters as usual, but a small amount every day.  I guess I have to be happy with that for a while.  I am really expecting way too much of myself. I just want to jump right back into my old Kim, and I am beginning to realize she may never come back.  If she does, she will be different, and I have to come to accept that.

Lil sis came by this morning and helped me do a little organizing in the shop.  She is keeping tabs on me and reporting to Sissie.  It is so good to have these sisters that watch out for me.  I am blessed.

Went and paid my virus protection today for the year.  I also went to the insurance agent for my new Medicare plan.  It doesn't look good for drug coverage, but I have another appt. on Monday to square things up. Just what I need more paperwork, because I don't have enough....

Today is hemming.  I have 8 pairs of jeans to hem and a couple of mending jobs and two large tablecloths to hem.  So easy day actually. But tomorrow even though it is Friday I do have to get two wedding dresses done and called. I have started on one and just have a little left to finish.

I am not doing a Thrifty Thursday post this year, as my income is not stable with all the changes. But I will report that I have $220.00 in my 5-dollar bill savings.

Aunty and I are eating well, on what we have in the house. Trying not to spend any extra money right now until finances stabilize. These people sure like to take money out of my account but don't want to let me know when I will be getting any back.

Well, no one is going to do this work except me.  So, I had better get busy.  I wish I had more exciting things to write about, but I don't. Just chasing a 1/2 naked child around...

Trying to stay afloat one day at a time.

Kim

  1. Hi Kim,
I had the idiotic idea to delete my husband from one of our joint credit cards. Silly me. So don’t do that! Keep everything joint until months from now. We used our joint card for everything. Now all the refunds I have from canceling and rearranging things go onto the “canceled” credit card (that I can’t access since it is canceled arggghhh). So anyway, don’t cancel any cards yet. Let the dust settle. Otherwise, I give you many bonus points for potty training Kelsa. Holy cow that is a lot of washing ;). Hilogene in As

  3. Potty training... I remember training the first two, but not the third. Pretty sure he learned on his own.

You are a wonderful Grandma to be training Kelsa.

    God bless.

  4. I had to giggle - I can just see the sweet pea shaking her finger at you!!!!!! LOL
YES, you are being too hard on yourself. You are doing fine. Slow and steady. It took me a over half a year to get all the finances straightened out and even longer before I changed bank stuff. It is OK! No need to be in a hurry.

  5. I had nothing troubling me in those years, and I still REFUSED to potty train ANY of my kids, so hats off to you! My mother told me not to even bother. (She was a far wiser woman than I will ever be.) She said that other things equal, she's never known a kid, (and I have loads of siblings) to head off to kindergarten in diapers. My boys learned to "whiz in the weeds" outside, (which guaranteed they weren't peeing in the pool, btw) or followed their father into the bathroom. My daughter actually refused to put on a diaper one night, and pulled on panties instead. They were all about 3 1/2...though youngest may have been closer to 4. (My mother also said she had never known a kid to pack a bottle or pacifier in his lunch box...though she did know one or two who liked a bottle and blanket after the morning kindergarten session.) Kelsa's parents will really appreciate your efforts! xoxox

    1. My mother who taught kindergarten for 40 years said exactly the same thing.

    2. My guess is that your mother and my mother would have been around the same age. My mother had two master's degrees, and one of those was in education, (as was my father's master's degree) and I am one of half a dozen kids, and I believe my parents knew EXACTLY what they were talking about.

  6. Sew lots of lace on those training pants and keep talking about not messing up her pretty panties. Helps.

  7. I see her shaking her finger at you Kim! She is adorable 💗 It is good you are getting small things done in the shop - better than No things done! You are right .. the old Kim may not come back but this new version might not be so bad anyway. Go with what you have I think. Take care Kim ... sending hugs to you x0x0x

  8. I never really potty trained my four. I worked full time and it just kind of happened at daycare I guess. Maybe they just potty trained themselves. Cindy in the South

  9. I used those terry cloth training panties. Do they even have those anymore? Son resisted toilet training. He did not go in his pants sometimes. He just pulled them down, squatted and went in a corner! The girls were very easy. Good luck!

None of us are the same after trauma. I am going with the new me even though I don't like it.

    1. They don't have the terry cloth, but they do have very thick cotton panties.

  10. The first day of potty training my son he went through 9 pairs of training pants. I thought the kids would break me but he will be 26 in a few months and no accidents.😂😂

  11. I potty trained the first 2 grandsons and pacifiers was every single one of the 22 grandkids. SIGH... I am thankful though I am not having to deal with the great grandkids LOL.

I have a friend that has been a widow for 35 yrs. Her husband's name is still on the checking, credit cards and utilities.

  12. I remember attempting to potty train my first. There was some sort of book where you let them drink whatever they want all day. Well, I stocked up on things he was never allowed to have (soda, juice, chocolate milk). He was in heaven, and drank his body weight in liquids, and then just proceeded to pee his pants all day long. That book was a farce. We have pictures of him just passed out cold from the sugar, with wet pants. What a time. ;-)
