Friday, House work suffers when I get busy

You know when the shop gets busier Kim gets lazier with the housework.  I have dust bunnies all over the floors, under chairs and tables.  Carpets need a good vacuum.  The laundry needs a couple of loads done.  The ironing basket is getting full. Toilets need love.

I am happy to say that the kitchen is still nice and clean.  Now I just have to face the rest. The shop being the worst part of the house right now.

So today other than fittings of wedding dresses and many pick ups, I am going to devote a good portion of my day to housework.  In between clients, I can get this place whipped into shape.

I am definitely going to clean the shop, as I just feel so much better sewing in a clean area. I had two wedding dresses go out yesterday afternoon, and hope two more go out today as more are coming in.  With the shop being so much smaller it is hard to maneuver.I have 5 more dresses hanging in thee to complete.

I made shrimp tacos for dinner and I have never done that before.  They were very good.  It is a keeper of an idea. I just used home made taco seasoning on some raw shrimp and cooked it down with water.  Then I made a sauce with sour cream, salsa and lime juice.  We did not use any cheese.  Next time I would like to add a little fresh cilantro.  Hubs really liked them. It was also easy, I love that.

Hubs has to work at the high school this evening and I have no idea what to cook for dinner.  I think I will take out a package of chicken legs and bake them with homemade shake and bake and make a large salad.  I will need to have dinner done by 4 so he can eat before he leaves.  Then I have the evening to myself.  How nice, I get to control the remote!

There is a new wholesale grocery store opening up next to Wal mart.  I am hoping it will bring in some better prices on things.  There is also a new thrift store opening this weekend, so I am going to check that out also. I lead such an exciting life.

Have a great and productive day staying positive while you are in the negative.

Kim

    1. They were good and I had never had them before. I had heard of them but always thought yuck, although I love shrimp so why not? Maybe the fact that I think of tacos as fast cheap food.

  4. Kim,
You can have it all--clean house and plenty of work--just not as the same time!

  5. I am right there with you on the cleaning, my friend.
    I need to get motivated!
    We love shrimp tacos!
    Cilantro is the best.
Have a good weekend. I forgot about Shake and Bake! My mom used to make pork chops with that. Happy memories.

  6. I would consider grocery shopping and/or thrift shopping a high end date right now. I've been isolating for 5 months so far! It's not a hardship. Our district (Algoma in northern Ontario, Canada, just under 19,000 square miles in size) has 3 cases of covid right now and has had 3 deaths since last March. We are not under lockdown at this time but masks and social distancing are mandatory. Obviously, it works. I am thinking that with wedding season on the horizon you may have to give those dust bunnies names and let them play.

    1. I know. SO many weddings were cancelled and they are being done this summer. It is crazy, but I will take it!

  7. I'm tired again reading your day in the shop. I should talk-I'm covering four different people being on vacation days today. I'm sure my boys would love those tacos-I'll remember for a future meal as I can cook seafood, just not eat it.

    1. Actually a day in the shop is easier than housework. I sweat like a pig today. Are you allergic to sea food? I am allergic to squid or octopus. Like bad allergic. OUr oldest grew up eating seafood, and after she got married she was at a fancy event for lawyers and had some oyster pate'. She remembers getting to a bathroom at the hotel and that was it. Woke up in an emergency room. They had cut off her beautiful cocktail dress which she had ruined anyway. She became and still is very allergic to mollusks. SO why at 29 did this show up. And I can eat any kind of seafood but not octopus which is also a mollusk.

  9. Yay to the new thrift store! Ours is teeny tiny and only sells clothes. I haven’t been in it, yet. I drove over an hour to another thrift while in town running errands for my husband. I love shopping the thrifts! I’d like some black turtlenecks but didn’t see any. I brought home a slightly used toaster oven. Ours is well loved and will be donated after a good clean? I also got salad, apples, eggs and several other goodies. I swear, the freezer doesn’t look like we’ve eaten a thing!
With wedding season on the way, you’re going to be running in circles soon!

    1. Well part of me hopes so and part of me is like..... I think my freezers look good. I am pulling out the last frozen pizza from a fundraiser tomorrow, and then there is a ham in tier I am going to cook on the 7th for the missionaries. I am really eating down the old freezers. Still need to make jam. I just have got to do that.
