Monday, Valentines Day and Birthdays

Death by chocolate will be on my tombstone I am afraid.  It was a nice day that started out with people going from room to room passing out chocolate boxes. I got a MCd's gift card for each of the three oldest boys.  We had a lovely dinner, with prime rib cooked to perfection. All we did today besides listening to church, was eat and watch TV and nap.  It was lovely. Actually a perfect Valentine day.

Today is Daniel's birthday and he is 10.  I can't believe he is that old. I actually started reading blogs when I was at my daughters house when she was having Danny. I The first blog I read was Rhitter's,she and I have been on this debt journey for a long time. It is fun to go back and read how I was trying to pay off the truck we are now thinking of getting rid of soon. SO much has happened in 12 years.  B was in Jr. High when I started blogging.

Hubs went out with daughter and bought me a few things for Valentines day and they were thoughtful and cute.  He is a horrible gift selector and must have help. I received two candles and I had asked for candles rather than chocolates, as they have less calories.  He also bought me a soft pink blanket throw, which I have been eyeing. Very nice and useful things.

We will celebrate Danny today, and I have no idea other than McDonalds and Dairy queen cake and presents.  Another day of over eating.  Just what we all need !

Did you do anything fun for Valentines day ? Did you get any chocolates, or flowers?  Did you cook a special meal?

Have a great and productive day staying positive while you are in the negative.

Kim

  1. Sounds like a perfect time!
I had a nice Valentines day. Bill bought me a chocolate bouquet, made me breakfast, we went on a nice snowy hike, and he and I had yummy Mexican takeout for dinner. The kids were excited as I made them dinosaur shaped chicken nuggets for dinner and they got to stay up late watching tv since there is no school today. Lol and yes we all ate way too much chocolate.

  3. Sounds like you had a wonderful day and the pink blanket sounds so delightful! My oldest son was in the middle of a rare ice storm in north Alabama, at work, and I could not go to sleep last night until he texted me he was home safe. He is without power but he is home. I was worried sick, as we are not equipped to deal with ice storms, no one has snow tires, nor chains ( I mean it was like 70 degrees last week) and he had to drive home on hilly country unsalted roads. It is colder where he lives than down here. My daughter sent me videos of grandchild in Utah, that is the best we can do in Covid times, and my youngest two sons texted me. The baby boy is gradually getting over strep. I gave strict orders to everyone not to buy me anything because my house is full of my uncles’ and mother’s things, I need to lose weight, and the weather is dreadful for here. I, of course, had frozen red velvet cupcakes from a couple of weeks ago. So much for losing weight...ha! Now the middle son, who lives the middle part of Alabama, is going to dentist this morning for fillings and the rain where he lives will not freeze until tonight, so he should be ok. I kinda flip out about ice.

    1. Ice is always a hazard, but here we know we have it, and there you have people who don't know how to deal with it. Much more dangerous.

    2. Well, update, he was in the second storm, which started while he was at work.Three cars slid off road in same spot, including his.We do not have equipment to clear roads. A couple of nice folks with four wheel drive took him home at 1 am in morning after he sat shivering in his car for a few hours.

  4. I took Sam to meet his sweet girlfriend at the park. She made him a cherry dessert (with help from her grandmother) which was fabulous. So we had that and chocolate for dessert. Yum. I made dinner, & burned my hand, like a fool. The food was great, but I struggled to stay in a good mood, as my hand was absolutely throbbing. Slept on an ice pack & didn't fall asleep until 1 am. Maybe next time I'll remember the oven mitt?

    1. I talked to Slug and she set me straight. I still thought you were going to live in the lake house, and then I thought you sold it and then back to thinking you wee keeping the lake house. So confused. Happy you had a nice Valentines day!

  7. No big day, here. I bought us each a chocolate candy, that’s it. We celebrate throughout the year. I’m not a fan of hallmark holidays. Flowers on an ordinary Tuesday mean more to me.

  9. Stayed home, warm and comfy. I made a black forest cake and we wished each other happy valentines day. Other than that just a normal day around here.

    God bless.
