Saturday, Sore arm and a headache

Well my only side affects so far from the Covid shot are a sore arm and a headache.  I will take it.  I really feel for Chef Owings, with her hip surgery.  What a week to have an operation!  Just getting to the hospital with all the snow was enough to do most people in. But I think she will be back to her old sassy self soon.

I did get my short notice wedding dress done today, the bride was thrilled. I also had another one come in.  Next week I will be pumping out wedding dresses.  I think I have 8 in the shop right now, but not much else. I really hope the shop picks up soon, or I will be looking for a different line of work.

I pulled a package of pork rib-lets out of the freezer and made a new recipe.  It was a Asian pork marinade and then roasting. I did not like it at all.  Hubs seem to like it, but I will not cook them this way again.  They smelled good but yuck.

Schmills and Kelsa were down this afternoon and they stayed until about 8 p.m. while their parents went out to dinner and to get new cell phones.  I swear getting a new phone takes a bank loan and takes almost as long as a car purchase.  I think I would rather have my eyes plucked out than sit through buying a new phone or a car.

Put away all the Valentines things and pulled out the St. Patrick's day things.  Things that were mom's, or things dance students gave me, many of them I have had for years and years.  Not stuff I would ever spend money on, but things I love to get and keep.

Have no idea what we are going to do this weekend.  It is really too snowy to go for a long walk. I do
think we should go see when the baby chicks will be coming in and perhaps place an order. I also need to water the 4 large containers of geraniums I am wintering over in the garage.  I could start seedlings, but I really have no where in this house that they can get good sunlight.  Maybe the spare bedroom but that is carpeted and what if the water and dirt make a mess?  I could be really careful, But I always make a mess.  Our other house much easier to start seedlings in I am afraid.  I will have to put on my thinking cap.

I can say this, it is nice to have a weekend that is not already planned and full of things we have to do.  How many of those do you get very often?

I also need to get the taxes pulled together and I just don't want to.

Have a great and productive day staying positive while you are in the negative.

  1. I am afraid I would get water and dirt all over Tommy's carpet if I try to germinate seeds. I may try anyway. I thought about putting a sheet of plastic down, but then i might slide. It is always something. I thought about getting a small grow light for some shelves I have. The tulips bloomed well under the lamp light.

  2. Sorry your arm is sore. My husband and I had our shots on Thursday and nothing. Felt like that after the flu shot also. I heard there are symptoms after the second vaccine, we will see.

    1. I have heard that the second shot has worse affects. But I will take them!

  3. To me the sore arm was the worst part of the shot.
I am in a quandary about starting seeds for the exact reason you mentioned. Though if I wait just a few weeks I can sow directly in the ground so I might just do that.

    1. I just don't want to have to spend so much at the nursery. We have to buy so much heat treated topsoil for the new garden space so I am trying to save money.

  4. Even with my great intentions, I still had no garden last year, and doubt i will even try. Maybe a few more flowers, and tomato in a pot. I hope your shot two is not bad-you seem to still be as productive as ever even with the sore arm. I heard yesterday a doctor recommend getting in the dominant arm, moving and using it helps ensure the vaccine gets distributed well int he body-I'm not saying this right at all, but I understood his point.

    1. Well today (Saturday) I slept until 10, took a nap at 2 and I am going to be in bed by 10, so not so productive.

  6. I was very sick after second shot, as was my daughter. I think it is genetic, that is my unscientific opinion. I had a horrible time trying to do an attempted murder in person prelim the next day, and was running a fever, sore arm, stomach cramps, nightmares all night ( probably because of fever) , muscle aches, bad headache for 48hours and still tired. My daughter was very impressed I was able to get out of bed and go to work. I was less impressed that I had no backup, and was pretty pissed actually. Of course, having to also do murder hearings on my own this week, with no backup, again, and then yet dealing with a brand new murder did not help. I do not know if it is the shot, or stress, making me tired. I took a long nap. Oldest son slid off road coming home from work in SECOND ice and snow storm earlier this week in northern part of state, and I was so thankful Decatur PD helped him get a tow. Very northern part of state was a cold mess. Three folks slid off road where my son slid off road, including doctor called in to hospital. We do not do ice and snow well in the deep South. Although cold, it was much warmer where I live in the southern half of state. Just glad we are not Texas. Those poor folks. Temps in the 60’s tomorrow here.

    1. I feel bad that you do not have a back up resource. That is so much responsibility for you. Happy that your son did not get hurt.

  7. Oh, you asked about food in earlier post. I am eating a vegetable mixture of cooked turnips, potatoes, carrots, and Brussel sprouts that I will probably douse with ranch dressing and eat with cheese toast. I pulled out frozen red beans and rice, frozen cooked turnip greens and will probably make a soup of it and add vegetable soup mix. I also pulled frozen meat loaf and I may try to repurpose it into spaghetti sauce. I need at the grocery store, Diet Mt Dew to feed my addiction of it, and cat food, antacids again, and something else I am forgetting, oh yeah cheese, I am low.

  8. I am glad that your reaction to the vaccination is so slight.

I do hope things pick up in the shop for you.

    God bless.
