Wednesday, I am grateful

Here is a picture of our family at the cemetery. It takes a death to get us all in the same place.  Why is that?  But it was a beautiful warm fall day and very sunny.  From left to right: Our son in law Dan is holding Oliver and standing next to our youngest B.  Our eldest is next with her son Danny, he is going to be 11 soon.  Yikes!  Then yours truly with hubs, and our James who thinks that is how you smile for pictures.  Trust me I have many pictures of him like that. Then our second daughter or middle child, with the Schmills in front and her husband, Nathan holding our Kelsa.  Finally our family water attorney, don't know why he is not standing by his wife, but we did get all of us in a picture.  Paul is the tallest by far.  We all have short genes.  Boy am I grateful for this tribe.  They bring me so much joy and I am so proud of the people they have become. I love, love, love my son in laws and I also love their families.  Just such great people and I am so blessed to have them in my life.  All of us have so much red in our hair, even when we try to get rid of it, it shows red.  Hubs hair has a lot of red also, but he is now getting grey.  Finally!

Yes I did finally clean that shop up and got a few things ripped yesterday to sew today.  They are laying over the chair.  It is so nice to go in a work in a clean space.

Hubs has been super busy with odd volunteer things.  Today he will work at the high school a job he actually gets paid for.  But a brother in our ward has a 5 acre farmette and he fell and did something awful to his elbow and is casted for the next 6-10 weeks. SO hubs has been going over there are 7:30 in the morning to feed cattle, sheep, horses and chickens.  They have 8 dozen chickens.  We only have 13 chickens.  I can't imagine the work all those animals take.

This morning hubs used a large gasoline weed eater to knock down all the weeds in a long driveway.  If it snows here the blades of the snowplows rip up the concrete when they hit tall weeds. This brother is also going to come and get our 18 foot trailer and have hubs help him get feed for the winter. I am glad to see hubs busy, it is good for him.

Grocery adds came out today and there are actually a few things I am going to get.  Whole chickens are on sale finally! Also shrimp, and chex cereals which I will use at Christmas.

It has frosted here and we are taking the garden down.  Actually hubs is, right now he is taking all the sunflower seeds off the seed heads.  We will use these to feed the birds all winter. I am also getting my nails done this evening.  They have needed to be done for over a week.  I lost one of the nails and I scratched my forehead as I did it.  I glued the sucker back on.  I have such thin skin from my meds and even though I WASHED THE SCRATCH AND PUT NEOSPORIN on it, it still became infected.  So artificial nails.

I am going to run out and get a few groceries and visit a shut in friend for a few minutes.  I will take her a large diet coke and we will shoot the crap together for a while.  We call it our bi$tch sessions. She has pneumonia in her right lung and just took a bad fall last week while I was gone. I have to check out her stellar bruises. Then home to really, really do some sewing.  I am not kidding.  I am going to sew something. As hubs works this evening I had him cook a big lunch and he will have to take a snack with him as he works over the dinner hour.  Which means I do not have to cook! Always a blessing.

Have  not heard from Lil sis, and I want to know how things are going and then I don't want to know how things are going.  But I will run over and check on her cats and feed them.

So I had better get busy if I want to get anything done.  It is so easy for me to waste time and just dawdle around.

Any of you have anything exciting going on?  Please let me know, I need some excitement, well I mean good excitement please I have had enough bad.

Have a great and productive day staying positive while you are in the negative.

Kim

  2. Love the photo, thank you. Great looking group, and yes, it is a mystery why it takes a funeral to get everyone together…. In terms of excitement, I have been snorting out loud that the news media and the government have finally decided we have inflation. Sigh. Whatever they get paid, it is too much! I see the cost of home heating this winter will be up huge amounts (we live in Phoenix so heat isn’t a big deal). My husband and I are taking a motorcycle trip to Death Valley next week and meeting a group of other folks for a vintage Japanese motorcycle club event…so lots of 70’year olds driving 1970’s Hondas ;). It will be fun, and since I am only 65, I will feel like a spring chicken ;)

  3. Beautiful family. It does seem the big get togethers only happen for funerals now days. Sad.
Look at that lovely clean floor! Great job.

    1. I know, why is that? But the last few family funerals have been celebrations of lives well lived and a huge blessing to all of us!

  4. What a lovely family. We try and do a big reunion on Harvey's side of the family every two years. With the pandemic though it will be at least 3 years and not everybody comes.

Hope you got your sewing done, and the groceries bought.

    God bless.

  9. What a great family picture! Definitely blessed!
James' expression cracks me up. Reminds me of my son when he was around 4, only his expression was more of a lips out pouty face in every picture. Kids, gotta love em. :)
So kind of your husband to help on the farm. That is a lot of animals to take care of. So sweet of you to visit your friend. I know the visit will cheer her up. You are good peoples! Bless you!
