See Kim be super positive for two days!
See Kim utterly fail when she realizes her Husband just upset her schedule.
See Kim try hard and catch up on her work!
See Kim get a load of work in one day's time.
Is Kim coming or going?
When Kim thinks she is on a roll she needs to eat the roll. Even if it has carbs in it....
So, hubs comes into the shop yesterday when I was feeling so proud to me and says he has an oncology appt at 1:45 today so we need to leave here at 12:30 as Pullman is a good hour away and there is construction.
NOOOOOOO, I have so many appointments in the afternoon and bride coming from out of town. You cannot spring this on me. But you can fall it in me and he did. I have to go as he cannot hear and does not comprehend when he is nervous. Crap, crap and double crap okay I already did that.
Now do I know everyone I have to call to reschedule? Yes, all but one and that was someone that was supposed to be in yesterday and called to come today and I know it was late afternoon but not as late as we are going to be. So, I will just have to leave a note that I am sorry and will be home about 5:30. I really dislike this, but I have no choice. This is why I need Sissie as Sissie would have written down the name of the reschedule and had her phone # readily available. Remember she got the organized gene. I got her eggs, and along with having to have my kids and hers it caused ADHD. That is my excuse, and I am sticking to it.
Here I am trying so hard to get everything caught up and done before his surgery and I feel like I have had a big step backwards. Really it is not that bad, I just feel like it is. I will recover, but I have to complain about it first and obviously if you are still reading you have to listen. Feel free to quit reading now.
The shop was uber busy yesterday and two brides to fit and get out and that takes time. Plus, so much work came in. Taking care of clients is a big part of my time so less sewing gets done. Again, why I need Sissie. As she could deal with the smaller stuff and there is much more small stuff than wedding dresses.
As in the pants that came in and need to be out tomorrow, the pillow sham that needs made, the bathrobe that needs hemmed, the flower girl dress to be taken in, the bridesmaid dress to be altered, the ghee that needs to be hemmed. Plus remember the list Kim made yesterday (sure you do) that she was going to get through and be ahead of the game by Friday. She was going to buy small mums and replant some flower boxes and maybe get a few pumpkins to decorate the front porch. She was going to relax and feel free to waste a little time doing happy Kim things? Well, that is blown to hell. Kim needs to go eat about 4 doughnuts, then she will feel better.
Are you tired of me whining? I am tired of me.
Had a few good buys in the grocery adds today. Apple juice was on sale, so was cheese, also good ground beef for under $3 a pound.
So, Kim will be in Pullman all afternoon and I hope to get back and get a little sewing done tonight. Right now, I need to go quickly hem a pair of black pants for a client that needs to pick them up this evening.
Do you ever have reverses like this? How do you handle them? I bitch and use humor. If I can laugh at it, I can live with it. Like I have a choice....
Have a great and productive day staying positive while you are in the negative.
Kim
I'm a huge control freak about our schedule. We have so many moving parts, I can't add anything in. Ever. When it's hot & soccer gets moved to another day? Disaster, because my tightly coordinated schedule (work meetings, carpools, logistics) all are anchored around activities & days of the week. M is traveling this week, which puts all of the logistics on me. Today is my day without driving to kid activities, and I plan to enjoy it! Of course, that means it's also my APAC call day, but... gotta fit it all in.
ReplyDeleteGood luck, & hope the appointment goes well.
You so understand how anything can really screw things up!
DeleteI understand - but he does come first! I read words like pillow sham and bathrobe and mums - somehow I can't believe those are all that important and can't wait. Do the big stuff and be glad it is done. S**t happens sometimes and we just pull up them panties and go forward kiddo! You got this!
ReplyDeleteOh I know, he does come first and I am going to have to pay much more attention to his upcoming things. I felt upset and then guilty about not knowing he had an appointment.
DeleteI tell Tommy not to schedule anything without my input. Finally, he realized I am the social coordinator. Never mind it all doctor visits or something less than fun and social. Now, we both keep both our schedules in both our day planners. I would hate to be hemming a bathrobe when I had well-paying wedding attire to finish. Give that woman a stapler for her hem or duct tape. Just cut it off the right length and tell her "tough luck."
ReplyDeleteHope that the oncology appointment goes well, and I hope he has a good dr. I think the customers will understand that your husband comes first, esp at this time.
ReplyDeleteSending hugs.
Well, they just have to, I will not back down when it comes to him. He is first on my priorities.
DeleteIn order to avoid these medical appt surprises, I have grabbed the medical appointment steering wheel for my husband. I maintain the calendar and go online to his medical places (Mayo and VA and dental) and make sure what is on there. He is hopeless at this stuff and I used to run around with my hair on fire when these surprise appts came up. And of course I couldn’t yell at him because he is hopeless at this stuff, so I just took over. Leads to marital harmony. Even though I wish things were different and he could do this stuff….oh well. Now the question for you Kim is how can you get in charge of his appts? Maybe Sissie ;). Hilogene in Az.
ReplyDeleteWell, after yesterday I just realize I have to and he comes first above all the other things. At least until this mess is over.
DeleteIt bugs me to be caught off guard like that too. I need time to mentally prepare for things like that. Hopefully it will all work out. 😊
ReplyDeleteOh it did, I am in recovery mode in the shop.
DeleteUgh! I deal with this at work too often. Then it spills into home. Of course his appointment has to be priority.
ReplyDeleteOf course, it does, and people were very understanding.
DeleteI laughed when I read Cheryl's comment. I kind of agree. If you get no mums planted this year the world will continue spinning. If it is not earning money or medical, let it go!
ReplyDeleteBut I love me mums.
DeleteGhee?
ReplyDeleteI have a tight court schedule at work and emergency motions happen all the time but still drive me nuts. It throws everything off and causes me to work extra hours. We are severely short staffed. I consider you short staffed because it is just you. I don’t have to deal with a husband though at home. Hope your husband is ok. Cindy in the South
ReplyDeleteThis happens to Jess also. They are very short staffed.
DeleteWhat is your normal turnaround for alterations? I asked about having a pair of pants altered today when I was picking up my dry-cleaning and was told it would take 10 days (which seems fair to me). I would think a wedding dress could easily take many weeks.
ReplyDeleteI like wedding dresses to come in 3-4 months early. But with covid and weddings being held back and supply chain issues this has caused many problems in scheduling. 10 DAY TURN AROUND IS A LITTLE LONG, BUT NOT UNHEARD OF.
DeleteI hope your husband's appointment went well.
ReplyDeleteIT WAS A BUSY AFTERNOON OF TAKING NOTES.
DeleteHubby just rides with it... says it's from farming and God being in control of the weather. I stress internally while smiling repeating I got this, it's okay, it will work out. %*^(^(& me
