I thought this looked like me! |
Hey, I was able to get all the little person alterations done. You know that pile I started working on two weeks ago.... Yes, that one. It took me 2 hours. He picked it up this morning! I am so proud of me. I think the getting work done dam I had built has finally been breached. Sissie is ready to kill me. And you can tell I am really bothered by that. NOT!
Signe' called me from her office saying she was triple booked over her lunch break and to please bring her a sandwich and a large diet coke. I sent Sissie on this errand. If she has time to go out to lunch, she has time to take care of her niece. Also, Sig asks that I stop by the house and pick up hockey bags, sticks and Kelsa's gym uniform as she was running late this morning, and they are not in her car. Oh, and don't forget to pick up the kids at school. SO, I have my marching orders for the day.
Kay and Dan are coming over for dinner. I am having Pork chops and baked potatoes, some kind of vegetable from the pantry. I am almost out of potatoes, so this using up thing is working. We started a new puzzle last night. Such fun!
Today I tackle a wedding dress that is due for a fitting tomorrow. Also hope to get to a few piles.
I pulled some frozen pumpkin out of the freezer, and I am going to make a pumpkin cookie with it. Trying to see what will be good for choir practice this week. Not everyone likes pumpkin, but I do have chocolate chips that need to be used so I can throw a batch of those together.
I also have the kids this weekend, but I am not sure which night. Need to find out. They love to bake with grandma, so we will wait and see. Pumpkin spice cookies with cream cheese frosting, don't those just sound yummy? Plus, it will use up a bag of pumpkin and 1/2 a cube of cream cheese. (I need to use.)
It is all about using things up here, and every time I pull something from the freezer, I find more goodies to use. Amazing how much food one can accumulate, and not really buy many groceries. Just things on close out sales. I also have a turkey and a ham. Yikes! Will have to invite kids for dinner.
It is calving season here and I heard bellowing last night but so far have not seen any new calves. They are probably top side where I can't see them. Can't wait until they start galivanting around in groups, they are so cute. Also saw a cayote pair yesterday probably looking for a den so she can have her pups. I hope they find it far away from here, I don't need the hassle. So much for life on Kim's farm.
Well, I am off to start hemming a wedding dress and then ripping the top apart. My life is so exciting! Please let me know if yours is more so...
God is good
Kim
I just work, eat, exercise, and sleep, rinse, repeat … lol Cindy in the South
ReplyDeleteI wish I would exercise. I am terrible!
DeleteKim, From one person who feels like they are being put in a box to another, that shit for the unappreciative choir can be shut down. Some don't like pumpkin so you're making two kinds, then listen to them crab at you for not playing ever key correctly or to their tempo? I know you love your daughters tremendously, but dang, it's beyond a little grandmotherly help. You're co-parenting. You may be fine with that, what do I know, not being a grandma. But please take care of yourself.
ReplyDeleteTell me to kick rocks! I was not kind- probably because of envy that you have the grandkids to be there for. I think though the choir people should show you better appreciation.
DeleteKudos to you for realizing what you said was harsh. However, I agree with you on the choir folks. They do not appreciate her.
DeleteTo touch on the grandkids thing - I've always said that I wouldn't have been able to raise my kids without the help of my mother. And for that reason, I always wanted to be a help to my daughter. Do I do 'too much'? Maybe. But let me tell you, I need those kids as much as they depend on me. Keeping busy with them over the last three months since I lost my husband has kept me from going nuts. Or further than I was to begin with.
Wow. Totally out of line in this space.
DeleteActually, I am appreciated in choir. There are others that play better but they want to sing. I also would like to sing. If you play well enough (cough) you almost always are relegated to plating and nothing else. You are pigeonholed. If I play it allows others to sing, plus it improves my skill. And the treats are out and out bribery. I love the co-parenting part of my life. These grandkids have saved me mentally and they will be little for such a short time. I appreciate your concern, but when I need a break, I let them know.
DeleteGood for you...like I said, tell me to stay in my lane ( or kick rocks). I need to remember it's two way relationship with our kids, and you're receiving love by the armful. I just remembered your post where the choir members were being less than kind, and your post about being put in a box, and I hurt for you.
DeleteI am not much for some kinds of pumpkin treats, but I would nibble off a cookie. You cannot make everyone happy. Oh, let Kelsa lick them. That is a treat, for sure.
ReplyDeleteThe things you have to do would have to go on a list with date and time for me to follow!
Frolicking calves will be fun to watch.
Yes Kelsa, must be watched!
DeleteYou are sure one busy lady. More gumption than me!
ReplyDeleteI try and keep busy as it helps my mood.
DeleteGlad to read that your dam has broken. I love pumpkin treats so those cookies sound just awesome.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Oh I hope so, it was a really high one.
DeleteOh yum, pumpkin spice cookies with cream cheese sounds amazing! I vote for those over chocolate chip. 😂
ReplyDeleteI am trying to use up things in my freezer!!
DeleteYou are a busy girl! Your children are blessed to have your help.
ReplyDeleteWhat are grandmothers for.
DeleteI want one of each cookie.
ReplyDeleteWell, come on over my friend.
DeleteWell, we can at least say you do not allow grass to grow under your feet!!!! Hope your day was fun as well as productive.
ReplyDeleteI wish it would grow in my yard!
DeleteIt does feel good to tick things off the list. Great job!! Pumpkin cookies with cream cheese frosting sound delicious to me. Have a great time with your grands. They are only little for a short time.
ReplyDeleteI know they grow up so fast. I hate it!
DeleteI keep forgetting to check the freezers for things. There is a stand up deep freeze in the lower garage that I rarely ever think of. I finally went down there a couple of days ago and got a pack of pork chops and brought up to the house to thaw.
ReplyDeleteI have the refrigerator in the kitchen, one in the garage that is attached to the house, and the deep freeze in the lower garage. All were mostly full as of hubby's passing 100 days ago.
I pulled everything from my freezers and made a list and put it on the church web site to give away so it would not go bad. I am so sorry for your loss. I wish I was close so we could just sit and have a good cry. But have all that food bless others, in these expensive times. I know the mothers I gave my excess to really appreciated it.
