Saturday, What to do?

When one leaves on vacation you get to forget all the things that need to be done. Right now my closet is screaming at me.  Switch me over!.  I need to go through my closet and get rid of all the summer clothes that I did not wear or that are old and stained and switch out to my winter things.  I tried to cull out a few blouses that I had for several years this summer and replace them.  I also threw away at least 4 pairs of old sandals.  (as in 7 years old)  I have a tendency to wear things forever.  I also have a tendency to ruin things in my outside work and with my cooking.  I need to be more careful or just cover up more I guess.

In order to complete this task I have to finish the ironing and get things organized and I just don't know if I can convince my self that this needs to be done.  My inner brat wants to go play some more.

The chickens have left us a mess of eggs which my sister will come get today. So I was cleaning and sorting yesterday between clients.  It was a very busy day.

I picked everything I could find in the garden.  It will freeze this week.  So now I have to find a place for all of this bounty.

Hubs made chili yesterday and chopped up a bunch of the peppers and tomatoes.  It was delicious.

Here is about 1/5 of the squash harvest.  So mom and I will be going out to look for large baskets to store these in the garage. I will peruse the second hand stores.  Fun!

Putting the garden away is no easy task either.  Hubs also needs a new pair of shoes, so that is on the to do list.  He left a pair of really worn out walking shoes in Florida.

So you can see I have a few things that I can do, but do I want to do them.  Will anyone else do them? No.  Part of trying to get out of debt is just plain old organization and work.  Taking care of your things and downsizing saves money and time.  Taking care of the produce you grow saves money and takes time.  You cannot be lazy and get out of debt.  No one will do it for you.  Well no one will do it for me.  So I must work at it and sometimes the work is no fun.

Let's see how much Kim can get done today.  Hmmmmm......

1. switch clothes
2. iron all summer things to hang in storage closet
3. clean and cull master bedroom drawers, closet
4. get hub's shoes
5. find baskets for fall produce and wash and store
6. Pull a few bags of garden rot maybe 10?  just 10 for today ...just 10

On your mark, get set,  I think I will go get a diet coke.

Have a great and productive day staying positive while you are in the negative.

Kim

  1. Well our seasonable weather has been very unseasonable here so changing out the closet isn't happening here yet. With the new puppy I have given up on getting any sewing done and have moved the in progress and unused fabrics back onto the etagere where they use to live and out of the dining room. 7 for dinner at Thanksgiving means I need to whip the dining room into shape asap.

Now stop stalling with your Diet Coke and get to that list.
I hope you had a good trip to FLA.....

  2. Did he mean to leave the shoes? Hopeless shoes are good for garbage taking out in the rain. I not longer have to walk to the chicken yard no matter the weather.

My free produce I got today is a boon. I may save some of the cooked sweet potatoes, frozen, for Tday.

It sounds like you are back to your whirlwind! It never stops, does it?

I thought squash should not be washed until used. I would have just wiped them off and put them in a basket with paper in the bottom to contain the dustiness. I absolutely hate getting washed produce from the Farmer's Market.

I have one potato to plant in a pot. Maybe I will have free potatoes in a few months.

    1. I wash them off and dry them well and then just store in garage. We left them on purpose so I could pack the gifts I bought.

    2. My first thought was a stunned--How many gifts did she buy that she could not put even one pair of shoes in the car.

I remember you talk about driving. Then, I remembered you flew down and back. That would have been one full car if you could not cram in one old pair of shoes!

Our garden is finished except for Mustard greens, I am putting them in the freezer. It will be done soon. I am thankful for the full freezers, but Really proud it's done.. whew!!
I hate changing the out of season clothes.. I still have not pulled our winter clothes out.. [Must get it done, as we predicted to have very cool weather the upcoming week.
Best wishes on your work week.

  5. I'm glad you had a nice vacation. I well know the feeling of looking around on a Saturday morning and seeing so many things that need to be done that it seems hopeless to even try, much less being able to decide which thing to do first. I usually just do something....I'll never finish, but need to get some of it done as I won't have another chance for a week. So, today, we just plunged in and got a few things done, and then I took an accidental nap on the couch. Maybe I'll have a little more energy to do a bit more this evening.

My garden is pretty much done. The rain has been very heavy and steady all day today, and so things that are not actually dead are very waterlogged and ruined. We also have had a lot of wind the last couple of days....fall is definitely here in our part of Oregon. I was not able to successfully grow squash this year at our new house, so bought a butternut squash at a farmer's market today. What brave souls! It was rainy and windy and the 4 vendors looked miserable, except for the one who was camped out in the back of his trailer with a heater...smart man:)

    1. Yeah for Saturdays. I either get a lot done or nothing at all. Accidental nap? I could use one or two of those.

    1. My ironing is still on the floor staring at me as I walk by. I am sure it is alive.
