Friday, Busy weekend ahead!

I am happy to say I made arrangements for mom to be cared for for 2 days next week.  I will take her to my sister's house at 11:00 (I know that this is after the shop opens, but hub's will help) Mom also likes to sleep later.  The caregiver will take care of her there until Lil sis gets home and feeds her dinner. Then I can go get her in the later evening. I will do the same on Thursday.  Lil sis also wants me to do Fridays, but I am starting with 2 days a week.  If I have her cared for here, I am afraid she will just interrupt me constantly.  But I have also thought that if I have her cared for here on Friday's I can get the caregiver to also deep clean her room and bath.  As mom cannot see she is very sloppy and things get grungy fast.

We had a terrible rain storm here last night.  Lewiston is a semi arid dessert climate. We get between 7-9 inches of rain a year.  We have had 1.5 inches in the last 3 days, so our basement (mom's room ) is having flood issues.  We now realize we will have to take out a wall and reseal a window that has been covered up by sheet rock.  We will not do this now, but it does have to be done.  One more thing to repair.  Yippee!

I was able to get the night shirts done and today I have to alter a few costumes.  Hub's and I need to go get a barrel for a scene in the show and I have gathered antique furniture for some of the scenes. Mom enjoyed the kids at the theater last night and even offered to pay for cheese burgers for the crew.

I would love to get the ironing out of the way and out of the shop, get some laundry done and a little organizing in the shop.  I have to be at the theater by 3 to pull stage furniture. I was home by 8 last night and that was great.  I hope to be home by that time tonight. Tomorrow will be busy.  D#3 is coming down tonight to help with Grandma tomorrow.

Next week cannot come soon enough.

Have a great and productive day staying positive while you are in the negative.

Kim

  1. Glad you got some rain - but hate that you got water in the basement.
Sounds like you have a plan for Mom and you get a little time to yourself. WIN-WIN
    Have a good weekend

    1. Well it will be expensive but less than putting her in a home.

  6. If your helper can clean, have them do it!

I am a Personal Support Worker for my disabled niece and nephew and I often clean a bit to be helpful. Because of the nature of my job, I'm supposed to be working with the kid to help them learn life skills, which I do, but I also do actual cleaning, with my helper by my side. My niece can do more because she is much older, but still needs a lot of support. My nephew and I do the dishes one afternoon a week, and he hands me the dishes after he squirts them to get the food off (and usually me, the wall, and so on) and I load them up in the dishwasher. He can put away silverware and I put away the things that go up high. But, lots of days, I "help" him clean the counters, throw away trash, put things away, and so forth because all of that really helps his Mom and Dad when they get home from work. I also get food for him if he is hungry and clean up the mess from that. Sometimes we do projects like a craft, make a cake, or I take him places, but several days a week, I'm just there to help him do his routine. (My niece first, then nephew, one at a time, when they get home from school) Weekends are for more fun stuff:)

It would help you if your Mom's support worker could deep clean her room and I doubt you would grieve not getting to scrub the bathroom and such:). They could change the bed, put on a load of laundry, etc. I'm excited for this positive change in your life.

  7. I'm glad you are getting some help with your mom. Being a fulltime caregiver is very stressful.
