Friday, Okay I am struggling

I was able to complete another chart finally.  With the shop down so much it has been hard to do.  Plus almost every penny I have earned has gone into the house.  It is hard for me not to use my shop money to pay off debt.
I can't seem to get my schedule working.  This week it is like the sluice gate opened and I am taken along down the ?  I am sewing all day and I can't seem to keep up.  I do remember trying to write a post yesterday and then about 6 last night I realized I hadn't written anything.

I think it is the constant interruptions. Between hubs, the painter, clients, the phone, I cannot focus.  I am not used to this or I have become unused to it.  So I need to rethink how I think.  What is most important?  Making clients happy would be high on the list.

We have been very discouraged with our home search as there is nothing to buy we can afford in this area, if it is something we can afford it is not anywhere near as nice as the house we live in.  The offer we had pulled out and I don't even care.  I am truly thinking of pulling it off the market at the end of June if it has not sold.  Just having to show it every day and adjusting my schedule constantly is nerve racking. I do think it is the right thing to sell, but I would like to think I will find a nice little cottage.  This is not for the faint hearted.  Just have to have more faith.

The shop is very busy and I have so much work ahead of me today.  I really would like to get at least two bride dresses done, at least one must be done as she is picking up today. I have a military uniform and a couple of zippers to get done, plus a few more piles to kick through.

Last night I was back to my old habit of doing hand work in front of the TV.  So I was able to hem 5 pairs of ladies slacks last night.  It is nice to be able to continue to make money while I sort of relax.

I must call several clients today and see if I can get them to pick up.  I need more money to cash flow this dang painter.  It is somewhat discouraging to work this hard and see all the money go out, but then I am happy not to have to touch the savings accounts.  I just need to be more grateful for things.

Do any of you have trouble with gratitude?  I do and I am ashamed of that trait.

Have a great and productive day staying positive whirl you are in the negative.

Kim

  1. I hope you can sell your home if that is what you want to do. We struggled with that too - in the past. We live in SLC and finally decided on a townhome, and keeping the old house as a rental property. So far it is working out. Hope you have a good weekend.

  2. If you are trying to downsize you are competing with buyers like my daughter trying to get their first house. She missing out on the right ones as well. Where are the sellers going to I wonder if you are not getting offers?

    1. I think we are priced too high, but at this place in the game I don't care. I will not move into a crappy house for 20,000 less than my house.

  3. Do you think the housing market in your area is maybe slowing due to the pandemic & the job losses? I hope you are able to find something soon.

    1. No we have a housing crisis due to not enough housing. There are maybe 15 houses in our price range and they are all dumps. My house is lovely and it is the same price as the dumps, but I can't ask more for it. It is just strange.

  4. No, I do not have trouble with gratitude. This might not be a good time to put a house on the market and get your price. Do you want to sell and get less? That might be possible. If I were shopping for a house right now, I would think I could get one for less than the asking price. Put yourself in the buyer mindset.

  5. Here's hoping you are able to get lots of people to come in & pick up their orders, have a productive day, and get at least an hour (too optimistic?) to yourself!

  6. I too, hope that people come and pick up their orders, so you'll have cash flow and not have to touch your savings account. That would be great!

    1. Boy an I trying, but it is frustrating to work so hard and see the money go to a painter and not savings, or debt.

  7. I think everybody has days where they struggle to be grateful. You've had a full plate with work, your spouse and buying and selling a house. I don't think it's unreasonable for you to be too tired to feel anything other than tired.

  8. okay... I would pull the house off the market for now, continue with the work so you are not trying to get the work done and show it at the same time...which could be a hic up in why you aren't getting offers, the other is pandemic and unrest in the country. Focus on the work aka sewing to pay for the changes in the home. KEEP looking yourself. It took us 4 yrs and we did a lot of searching even out of state on line. Write out what you are looking for but acknowledge health issues in 5-10 yrs from now or sooner as mother in law now needs a walker and can't get through any of her doors with it ...a woman that took in both sides of grandparents and parents and her own brother... you would think she would have thought of that when they bought their new home at age 60.

  9. Kim, I agree with anonymous and Chef Owings, you have had a real packet lately and tiredness would naturally be your dominant feeling. I'm not usually a Pollyanna but I do think that the house not selling as quickly as you'd hoped may be a blessing in disguise, as it does give you time to really think carefully about the future and what type of house you and Hubs will need to live comfortably in the future if health and mobilty become more of an issue for you two than they are now - so I agree with Chef Owings.
I am already at 67 regretting not buying a one story house at 60- rather that a three story - it's not that I can't do stairs, I just resent the energy I spend getting from ground floor to top floor when I've left my glasses there!
I am sure you will find the right place, it's out there for you. Best of luck with everything - you will get there in the end, you always do!

    1. You are so right and this may be the Lord forcing me to see clearly what the future is. I am stubborn that way....

  10. Yes, Chef Owens has great advice. Pull the house off the market, get it all fixed up so you can show it with ease. In the mean time keep looking for your next dream home. I also like her advice to take in consideration the possibility of future health issues and getting around the house.

    1. I know, I need to sit down and really talk to my husband about this. I just have never wanted a one level home. In fact I hate them. I want a 2 or three story older home, I always have and I might be unrealistic. Okay I will admit I am unrealistic.

  11. The house thing is a hard thing to fully wrap your head around when you consider what you need and what future needs might be. In addition to mobility issues you also have to consider visiting family and where to stash everyone. I know kids don't mind all sleeping in sleeping bags on the den floor, but not too many adult couples are as fond of communal overnights.
My house is entirely too large for the two of us, but when everyone is here it works great. It is going to be hard when we downsize to figure all the moving parts, but we will I guess.

  12. I was diagnosed as HEPATITIS B carrier in 2013 with fibrosis of the
liver already present. I started on antiviral medications which
reduced the viral load initially. After a couple of years the virus
became resistant. I started on HEPATITIS B Herbal treatment from
ULTIMATE LIFE CLINIC (www.ultimatelifeclinic.com) in March, 2020. Their
treatment totally reversed the virus. I did another blood test after
the 6 months long treatment and tested negative to the virus. Amazing
treatment! This treatment is a breakthrough for all HBV carriers.
