Wednesday,Working the list

Kim did get to work yesterday ticking things off her list and she cleaned up so many piles.  We should be proud of her. She also ate captain crunch for dinner and it was lovely. Sluggy called and we had a great chat. I watched more Downton Abby.  I missed so many episodes when it first came out, so it is fun to see those.  The weeds I sprayed are looking sicker than ever.  SO hurrah!

I have to water and take care of chickens. I forgot to take out the garbage, so I hope we can get through next week without overfilling the can.  When we moved to this house we had the smallest can the city allows and we never changed it to a larger can.  One more way to save money. But you do have to be careful.

Roscoe was sick last night, but seems to be better today, I don't know if he got into something, or it is the heat. Of course he had to get sick on the carpet in the formal front room as usual. I mean why not throw up on the laminate floor?  He still seems a little off today, so I am watching him a little closer than usual.

I was able to get the sleeves and lace off a wedding dress yesterday while I visited with Slugs.  That bride is coming in today, but I forgot what time.  I will have to do a little bit of a redesign for her. There are many things due out Friday and I need to really stay in the shop today.  But I was so encouraged by what I got done yesterday and that will keep me motivated.

The grocery sales came out today and not one thing that I want  or need.  Not one loss leader, boy have grocery adds been crappy. Usually there is one item to stock up on, but zip, nothing, nada. With hub's gone I did not go through the produce that I normally go through so I see no shopping this week.  We do have two missionaries for dinner on Sunday, so maybe I will spring for some steaks to grill.

Well I am off to finish the list I did not get done yesterday and then some I hope.

1. remodel red dress

2. alter bridesmaid dress

3. put new elastic in four skirts

4. alter another bridesmaid dress

5. take in and hem a wedding dress for Thursday pick up.

6. maybe get to a third bridesmaid dress? It seems I have another due out I had better find it.

Kim is on a roll and she is getting that shop cleared out.  Well not really as it comes in as fast as it goes out, but at least I don't have piles of jeans and pants all round my machine.

Have any of you noticed that the grocery adds are dismal?

Have a great and productive day staying positive while you are in the negative.

Kim

  1. Grocery ads are always rotten before the first when people get ss checks. They are always better, in my mind, the first of the month.

A bird got into my house and spent days flying around before I realized it. It only pooped on upholstered furniture or fine finishes. It never pooped on washable surfaces! I had to go upstairs and search for poop.

    1. Well no self respecting bird would poop on anything easy to clean, right?

  2. I got a couple good things last week - but nothing this week. Not even going to the store this week - it isn't worth it. Nothing I need, so stay home!
You sure keep busy. All that tedious work would drive me crazy. Have a good one,

    1. You know it does get really tedious.Right now I just want it to go away so I can sit out in the sun and enjoy myself. But alas it does allow me to pay bills and go to Alaska,so I am going to be grateful and get the work done.

  3. Grocery ads are a joke up here in Alaska too! Has been for at least a year. Like you, there was always one item to stock up on but not anymore. Plus, clearance prices are not any better than sales prices. No need to search for true clearance items. They just do not exist anymore.

    1. I find it kind of frustrating.. Not that I need anything, but I do love a good bargain.

  4. By this time of year, Aldi always has their Calif strawberries by the truckload. Not so this year. They finally had some last week but not the rock bottom price yet.

  5. Here in Arizona, the grocery ads are awful as well. Over the past six months I think there were two weeks when I was pleasantly surprised and stocked up…but the past month has been sad again. Items that were on sale last year for $1.00 each now are “on sale” for $1.50….(cream cheese and Classico spaghetti sauce for example). Sigh. I am just not sure what prices may do in the next six months so will go tonight to get the cream cheese. Glad you had a super productive day yesterday, I need one of those ;)

  6. Definitely finding grocery sales are very poor. I find myself stretching what we have more and more.

Good job in getting that list down.

    God bless.

  7. You have been busy working! We don't get grocery ads anymore. Walmart ran all their competitors out of town a long time ago. I forget about Aldi. The cashiers in there are so rude, I hate going in there. We try to buy local from the farmers, then make a grocery run to the big city about once a month. Right now it is strawberry, blueberry and blackberry picking time, the pears and apples are on the trees. We just picked our first cucumber and are close to getting our first tomato. We love eating out of the gardens!

  9. the only ads we get here is online. I don't bother any more to even look. With the freezer pretty full and gardens coming in and Amish selling their surplus... only dairy is what I am buying... well and ice for when I need to blanch stuff.
