Thursday, Rotten chest cold, Thrifty Thursday!

Well, I am working myself into a nice chest cold.  What really aggravates me about it is that I now have to go get tested as, I don't want clients exposed.  I am sure with three shots I can't believe I have it, but you can never be too careful.  Wearing a mask to greet clients for pickups.

Kelsa also did not sleep well last night, I kept waking her coughing and when I was asleep finally, she would wake me crying.  I wanted her mom to sleep as she had to work another 12-hour day today after working a 14-hour day yesterday and just getting over an infection.

Hubs was up early taking Schmills to school, and them he had to set up a band concert today at the high school.  He has to go back this evening to work.

I am going to take a nap this afternoon and then get some sewing done. I am beyond tired. I made eggrolls and rice last night and my goodness.  Nate brought the kids down and between Hubs, me, Nate, Schmills and daughter we ate every one of them.  That is a winner recipe.  I used the last of the chicken breasts from Tuesday as the meat.  I have no idea what I am having for dinner tonight and I am too tired and sick to really care.  Hubs might be eating a peanut butter sandwich.

By the way I now have two wedding dresses, and two bridesmaid dresses and a pile of alterations to do.  I am so happy and then bang no sleep and a rotten cold, that is really wiping me out. I think after I take a nap, I will feel better.

Things I did to save money last week:

1. saved all my spare change

2. saved all $5 bills added and additional $45 to my mortgage So far $60.00 total for the year.

3. paid $100 extra on mortgage, by filling two of my 100 envelope challenge

4. saved a $1, $5, $10, $20 for vacation.

5. stayed out of grocery stores only bought what we absolutely needed.

6. eating out of freezers and pantry. Last week used a bag of chicken breasts, a bag of pollack, frozen blueberries, some yogurt, several cans of fruit and beans out of storage.

7. cooked all meals at home from scratch.

8. picked up 90% or better Christmas things to transform and sell or give as gifts.  Keeps me busy and allows me to give nice things to family.

9. used coupon at Joanns for zipper

10. found cheapest place to get gas.

11. Told daughter we were out of diapers instead of going and buying had her buy them.

12. Some of my favorite clothes this winter are things my Sissie sent me that she no longer wanted, it is nice to have new things you didn't have to pay for.

13. Picked up two plant stands for $10.00 I am going to paint white and distress to resell.

14. sold two items on facebook marketplace.  Earned $65.00

I am going to take a nap. Is this going to get a covid test every time you feel a cold coming on, getting to you guys?  Crap and double crap!

  1. You have a lot of great wins! I requested a $300 gift card (part of a promotion that I never got). Fingers crossed that comes through, but either way, I chased it down.

Used grocery store rewards a couple of times. Packed food for M & the boys for their ski trip. Used a discount code for lift tickets. Avoided the nicer lodging option for this weekend, and stuck with the further out, way less nice (and, wayyyy cheaper) place that's completely fine.

    1. Just the fact that they get to go, should be enough, without fancy accommodations. I think you are a great wife and mom.

  2. Hope you start feeling better soon. My BIL was feeling under the weather last Saturday. He kept getting worse and if his test did not turn out to be negative on Tuesday, I would have postponed my booster shot yesterday. This pandemic is getting old.

    1. It really is, the clinic, asked me when I first got symptoms and I said Wednesday, they told me to mask up, lay low and I would be fine by Monday. Did not want to see me, they are too busy.

  3. RSV is making the rounds in adults and it is horrible. We had Omiron and it did not go into our chests.

  5. Good luck. My husband and I were both boosted in November (and we wear masks everywhere) and we both just tested positive. He feels better already - I'm still sick, but I'm five days behind him (meaning HE infected me, and yes, I'm a little mad about that...).

  7. Hope you feel better very soon Kim. Our youngest was double vaxxed and was set to have his booster this week. Guess what he has come down with. Covid. I have a feeling all of us are going to get it sooner or later due to it mutating so quickly.

    God bless.

  8. Those are long days for your daughter to work with young children at home-she must really appreciate your help. I'll be truly with no symptoms by the time my test results are back. I've been no where but walks with the dog and to drop of my test to send to the lab. Better safe-and I think you are marvelous to take your precautions in your own home. Fell better-lots of fluids helped me, but then I didn't get much sleep because I was up five times in the night.

    1. Well I do worry about her. She goes from the dental office to the studio. SHe also has the marker for RA and had Stills diseases as a child. I just don't want her to get this inherited crap, so I try and help her, plus I loves me a grand kid. I am happy you are feeling better.

  9. It's too bad you are ill when you have work to do! We ate leftovers tonight. Unfortunately, that means I have to cook tomorrow night. At least the chicken is thawed. I would much rather be ill than have a baby ill!

  11. I love making eggrolls! The only shopping I did was to pick up 5 more pounds of butter for 1.97 each. So sorry you're sick again. It's smart to get tested because so many are triple vaxed and still end up with it. It is getting old though.

    1. Good deal but we had a limit of 2 pounds. I get sick pretty easy as I take that immune suppressant drug, but I sure get tired of it. All I can do is work through it and not allow it to get me down.

  13. I hope you get better very soon. These are hard times for so many. Here in Missouri everything outside is brown. We feed chopped corn in our deer feeder, birdfeeders and we have several feeders out by the pond. Growing up my Dad and I would walk along the river valley and he would teach me how to spot animal tracks (and poop) and follow their trail. Peaceful memories from the past. I added your family to my prayer journal back in november and I will continue to pray for your health and for renewed energy. I wish I could do more of your savings ideas but I rarely deal with cash. I save by staying home, buying our meat directly from the rancher and then having it processed, raising a big garden (we eat red tomatoes at Christmas), growing herbs indoors during winter, and I never buy anything in a box except cereal which is rare. We try our best to not eat any processed foods. We have family that work for the cheese plant and we get to buy cheese on fridays for $1 pound. We have 8 homes down a long lane and we are all family. We make a trip to Sams club and divide up the portions about once a month. We share meals when we have extra and have a "meals on wheels" kind of co-op several days a week. We have game nights and movie nights around the pool for entertainment. We share a pool, pavillion by the pond, tractors, trailers, equipment, etc. Just some ideas because in order for me to save cash I would have to drive to the bank and take it out first. Stay warm, get some rest, and keep saving! ~jackie~

    1. Oh, Jacki your life seems so ideal. I love that you can share all that with family. I do go to the bank and get cash to save. I know that seems odd, but savings is savings, If, it is in the checking account it will eventually get spent. At least it will at my house. I so appreciate you praying for my family. I pray for my nephew's peace of mind every night.

  14. I had to test for Covid because I was with two colleagues getting ready for a capital murder case and the very next day (which was jury trial scheduled) they both were running fever and tested positive! Judge continued case because he was afraid I would go down also after being with them for four hours. So far, I am still negative. My colleagues really got sick and they were both vaccinated!
