Tuesday, On a roll!

Well, I am pretty darn proud of myself, as I was able to get those three wedding dresses ready for final fitting and one has already been picked up!  Another will be picked up this afternoon and the third tomorrow, so I am done with wedding dresses for the week.

Now have to concentrate on the bridesmaids/mother of the bride/homecoming dresses and I think I have 7 to do and I want them out this week.

I blew my meatloaf this week by putting too many breadcrumbs in it.  It smells wonderful but tastes a little bland.  We will eat it, Hubs with lots of mustard.  Don't you hate it when you screw up a recipe you have made for years?  By the way Linda I did put in some green pepper and that did help my mistake a little.  The green pepper kind of offset the too many breadcrumbs.

Had to run to the store today to get apple juice for Kelsa, and I used my Alberstons points to get a package of sliced cheese, a lb of sausage links, and a gallon of apple juice with points.  When the cashier rang up the three items, she thought she had done something wrong as the total was 0. But I only used points and bought nothing else.  Kind of the way I shop at Albertsons, other than loss leaders and 50% off meat I just don't buy things there.

So today:

1. hem and take up shoulders in a bridesmaid dress

2. put zipper in the side of a jr. miss dress

3. hem a jr. miss dress and slip

4. hem a homecoming dress

5. alter a homecoming dress

6. hem 5 pairs of jeans

7. patch a pair of jeans and cut out 6 Christmas stockings

8. put a zipper in a coat

9. take shoulders up in mother of the bride and call for fitting

I doubt I get all this done but it will certainly help me get most of the weeks work out if I can get these things out.  There are a couple more piles and more dresses, that need to be done for Oct 1, and the 8th that I should try and get done by the end of the week.

I would love to get some mums planted in my flower boxes, and a little work done outside as far as fall flowers are concerned and I hope to be able to do that this week. Just sewing all the time gets dull.

I need to run mail some pants to a client and I keep forgetting.  So, when Hubs gets up with Kelsa (they are napping) I will try to run do that.

Just got word from eldest that she will be in town the night of the 4th of October to stay with her dad, as I leave the 5th and I don't think his catheter will be out before I leave.  I don't want him alone at that time as wacky things can happen. So grateful to my girls for rallying.  Signe' was trying to rearrange her patient load to free up time at the office, and Braunwyn was switching out days with co-workers.  Between the three he will be well cared for.

So that is one more load off my mind.  Are you kids (if you have them) good at stepping in when you need them?

Have a great and productive day staying positive while you are in the negative.

Kim

  1. Well done to your girls. Yes, my kids are great that way, though two now are far away to help. A few weeks back DH was under the weather andy youngest catered to him. The oldest gave him the"talk" to take better care, and my middle is regularly doing things to help our load. I guess we did this right, Kim. We don't have a store that earns points like that to get freebies, just cheaper gas rewards.

    1. I love it. Especially the talk which our eldest is always giving. Is it something about being the eldest.

  3. Two weeks ago, I made the worst potato salad I have ever made. I did not feel well, so I just ate it. Tommy hates potato salad, so no problems with him eating it. He would not any way. I am glad you liked the diced bell pepper in the meatloaf. That is the only way we like it. I am so ill that I won't be cooking anything for a bit. He heated up frozen meatloaf and made himself a salad tonight while I slept.

  4. Kudos to you for getting the wedding dresses finished! It bugs me to mess up a recipe I’ve made for years too, but like you, don’t waste it.

    1. No we are eating that darn thing although I think if I threw it to the chickens they would probably ignore it.

  5. I get so mad at myself when I mess up recipes. I put them on the table anyway and I've learned that if they are hungry enough my family will eat them no matter what : )
Great job at being productive and positive! Have a great week! ♥

    1. Well I don't do it very often but when I do I do it well! I just pulled up your blog and I think you and I are so similar. I don't drink coffee, but I always wanted to be a 50's housewife and vacuum in pearls.

  6. Your hubby needs low carb, right? You can use crushed pork rinds and parmesan cheese in meatloaf in place of the bread crumbs. The texture comes out the same and you don't have to worry with the carbs.

  7. Good meatloaf or bad meatloaf once made will be consumed here.
I only have one kid who lives close, but he will always help in emergencies. Plus I have his wife who is more than wonderful and will do absolutely anything anyone needs. I try not to ask them for anything though.

  9. It feels good to cross items off a list, doesn't it? I do that for my work all the time - a good motivator!

My signature recipe is tuna melts (I know, I hear you laughing, but I hate cooking and I make these all the time!), and I nearly always singe them, lol. My husband has learned not to criticize my cooking (or he'll be eating ravioli out of cans for a week), and quotes Shania Twain, "Mmmm, I like it like that."
