Monday, Fun few days

Everyone wants to see Nate's backside, right?  Or how about the cutest little helper. When the kids moved the fridge back the linoleum got a small boo boo.  Nate put a patch in, as it bothered him much more than me.  You cannot see it.  The fridge covers it. My dad always said when you get something new you need to take a small hammer and give it a whack, so you quit worrying about it being new.

Friday, Aunty, my friend and I all drove to Kooskia (75 miles) to visit a quilting barn.  It had more fabric than I have ever seen before.  It was a fun day.  We stopped for lunch at a little bakery and the food was great! Signe' had given Aunty and I some quilt money and of course we spent it.

Now I wonder who loves purple and lime green?  Hmmm.... I see a new quilt in the making.

Saturday, Aunty and I quilted, and I finished pinning the blanket binding on a quilt.  We putzed around all day, got a few groceries and then went to Lil sis's for dinner and plated Farkle.  It was so fun.  Then home to bed.  Both of us were tired!

I accidently slept in On Sunday, so I was late for church.  Church is so hard for me as people always come and ask how you are and after the third one, I am having a hard time controlling my emotions.  I have to hightail it out of there. When will that go away?

Sunday, we had the sister missionaries over and also my friend that went to get fabric with us here for dinner.  It was delicious. Lots of leftovers.  Kids came in after we had eaten and helped to eat up what they could.  Nathan dropped off Kelsa as he has to leave late this afternoon for a weeklong training, and he needed a day to rest and get packed. So, she is with me today. Such a funny little bug.

We are headed to Twin Falls at the end of the week, so Aunty can see Jethelyn and the kids.  That means I have to get my act together and get things done.  My act is not very easy right now.

But today, I have a few pants to hem, and a few piles, and then some zippers.  I really must do something.

Have a great and productive day staying positive while you are in the negative.

Kim

  1. Love to hear about your good days and having fun. What a cute helper!!!
When does it end? Don't know - it slows down - but it still happens after 4 years here. I know that it's not what you wanted to hear - but they love us and they care. You learn to smile and take it in stride. "Doing fine, thanks" - becomes the phrase.
Get thyself busy girl - you have a fun weekend coming up!

  2. Hugs. And yes, the suggestion from Cheryl K. is apt: develop a stock phrase, use it, and move on.

  3. Hello, my friend. That little one with her pink hat! My heart is happy to hear of your good days. There will be not-so-good ones, of course, but we take each one as it comes. Hugs!

  4. Kim, I am glad that you had such a lovely day. Take each day as it comes and eventually there will be more good days then bad.

    God bless.

  6. Kelsa is such a cutie!
Learn to say "I am well, thank you" making minimal eye contact. It answers politely, and leaves you somewhat protected from further conversation.
You do realize you do not have to get your act together right now. All you have to do is cobble together whatever you need each day. The rest___well just fake it!

  7. I had to finally avoid church as it seemed people wanted to keep picking at the damage done already. "Fine, thank you." never worked. After the first time, I am reluctant to disclose more, so why bother me? I think people use this as a lame excuse to be supportive or provide solace. Once they ask and you don't beg for help, they probably think they have done something good for just inquiring and upsetting you again.
I know when I meet someone who has had a loss several months ago. I just say that I am sorry and have another subject to offer for conversation. It is not hard folks, quit picking at people!

  8. Kelsa is beyond cute, I didn’t notice her pink hat until I read Billie Jo’s comment. So I had to go look again and laugh out loud. Thank you for this joy! Yes, I am tired of the “how are you doing” questions and appreciate the comments on how to handle them…thank you all as well. Today was a hard day. My husband and I were both retired, and in the past years had started up an old hobby, target shooting at a local outdoor range. Today was my first day back there since he passed away. I was doing fine until one of the range safety officers (who I always said hello to but didn’t know well) asked me where my husband was. I told him and he walked up and hugged me. Well that did me in. As I was tearing up, I thought, holy cow, how many Kleenex do I have…idiotic thought but true. I pulled myself together but gees. Who knew a hug from an acquaintance was all it took. I did fine the rest of the time. But gees, the waves of sadness come all of a sudden. I can see Cheryl nodding her head and saying, yes…anyway, Kim, glad you had a wonderful time, and Kelsa is cute as a big ;). Hilogene in Az

  9. Many years ago after a miscarriage and dealing with church and all the hard but kind comments, a friend of my husband's called him and opened with very brief condolences followed by, "I'm calling to talk about sports." I thought that was just absolutely precious, and just the break my husband needed. I want to be more like that!
