Onto #8 so this is a good sign. I actually did get some sewing done yesterday! Hurrah for Kim. Still spent a little time outside but not as much as I would have liked.
Today I am taking Auntie to get a pedicure, and I am having my nails done, they are a mess. Of course, the yard work isn't helping. Every form of refuge has its price. Nice nails, weedy yard.
Sissie has been running around stocking up on the sales. Which is so nice for me. Keeps me out of the stores and I just reimburse her. I love it and it does save me money. In fact, looking at my spending register I realized that I had not done any kind of a grocery shop since the first of February. Not that I had not picked up a loss leader, here and there. But spending under $10.00 a week on loss leaders does not a grocery shop make. Sissie was always running a half gallon of milk and bananas over for Auntie and I was just using what I had or eating with Sissie.
So yesterday in spite of saying I was going to stay out of the store, I broke down and spent $62.00. Bread, milk, eggs, fruit, crackers, veggies, snacks for Auntie. Just a general shop for necessities. Here I was so smug about my spending and there was none of these foods in the house. I mean really. One can over do you know. I am the Queen of overdo.
Here are some pictures of what is happening in the new garden area. I would love to say it is almost complete but there is still so much to do. I am slowing down as my right shoulder is protesting loudly. Tuesday night it was very sore all night keeping me from getting a good sleep. Last night was almost agony. I really have to cut back on using it for a while.
Lifting all those bags, pushing a lawn mower, digging, digging, lifting, lifting and it is not happy. I really dislike it when my body gives way. However, life will go on if I take a short break to heal. Dang it anyway.
New to me strawberry bed. Poor plants are in shock from getting transplanted, but I will hit them with some fertilizer and see if they snap out of their doldrums.
This is what the area looked like. I can fence it off as deer will not jump into small, enclosed area, where they cannot get a running start leap. The original garden area was raised higher and moved slightly.
We are at a standstill here. I now have three beds for planting each one gets a little smaller according to the yard shape. We still have to fill in the walkways with sand and gravel. I also have about 4 more feet of patio and dig and place brick in, but that is on hold due to shoulder.
I put brick paths between gardens as our soil is almost solid clay and it gets so sticky and gumbo like when it is wet.
Here is where I must continue the patio. Sissie took my load to the dump bless her and she is now going to find me 22 more bricks to finish this beast of a project.
Planting will commence the first of May. We have had a cold spring especially in the mornings. Even the nurseries here are being cautious about putting plants out. I noticed Home Depot had a few racks of frost-bitten plants they were trying to sell. I am proceeding with caution.
So much work and so much more to do. Yikes! But I have loved every minute of it. My shoulder not so much.
Have a great and productive day
God is good
Kim
Looking really good. You have put in a lot of sweat equity - but it is paying off.
ReplyDeleteIt has been so much work but will be so worth it.
DeleteLooks so good and clean. We got a mess in my place, but something will get done. Something.
ReplyDeleteThat is how I see it. Something....
DeleteKim, it looks beautiful! I love the brick pavers in between the beds. I can tell how much work you’ve put into this project and it looks great!
ReplyDeleteThank you it has been grueling, and I am almost done.
DeleteKim, you have gotten so much done. I recommend a break so as to heal the shoulder. I should talk as I sewed today until my shoulders and neck started giving me grief. Heck my back is one major pain lately. You still have not spent very much shopping.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Yes laying off the work helps as my shoulder was hardly painful at all last night.
DeleteMy torn rotator cuff was not hurting much, then shoulder blade was blazing with pain last night. I hope yours gets better sooner than later. The beds and walks look great. I would fall on those pavers. You know I would.
ReplyDeleteHow does a deer outside a fence know how big the interior is?
Sew some; play some. You will get it done.
Deer are very good at gauging space. They are quite amazing.
