Saturday, Camo wedding!

Here it is in all it's glory.  I had to remove the bottom band and cut off 4 inches and then replace it.  The flower girl dress had to be altered and the petals tailor tacked throughout the netting.

I did get everything done yesterday I said I wanted to do.  So I am happy.  I actually was able to cut out 3 of the vests and I have 5 more to cut out, but I am going to sew these first.

Today we are going up to daughters to help. I have a large meatloaf I am working on that I will take up to put in the oven later in the afternoon. also baked potatoes, salad and corn.  If there is a hot meal at the right time, everyone works better.  Also there are no restaurants or fast food places in this small town.  If you are worried about stopping to fix a meal it throws off the whole day.

The back of this dress laces up with a long train.

I had to let out two of the bridesmaid dresses.  Remember when ordering a dress (most come from China) take your measurements and go up one size.  They will send you what they have regardless, but almost always will send up or down a size.  It is a very unfair and dishonest market.  Americans usually don't send things back.  It is better to have large than small.  These two girls did not like what their measurements said so just ordered their american size which is hugely inflated compared to the rest of the world.  Redeemer at Chico's everyone is a size 1 or 2.  A good marketing ploy. It makes us feel smaller than we are.

You can also see the veil edged with camo in this picture.  Sorry for the poor quality a photographer I am not. It took me three hours to hand stitch this bugger.

I am so happy I have this much done.  It takes about 1/2 and hour for me to assemble a vest without buttons and button holes. I will do all the buttonholes at the end.

So that was my day yesterday.  Now onto Kelsa cuddles and lots of moving and unpacking and cleaning.

Have a great and producible day staying positive while you are in the negative.

  1. I LOVE IT!!! Not at all what I had pictured from the phrase camo dress. That is pretty darn neat - although probably a pain for you.
I like the concept of somewhat rustic yet pretty. Sound like good old folks to me.
    Great job.

  2. Well that dress proves that there is no accounting for taste. *snort* But if the bride is happy(and apparently she chose this)and pays you, then it's all good. ;-)

  3. That is by far the most unusual wedding dress I've ever seen! Did the bride come in knowing exactly what she wanted, or did you help her out with the details?

  4. Well I admit it looks better than I expected. You are very talented, and I'm sure the wedding will be lovely. I hope they pay you well.

  5. You work miracles Kim! It actually looks much better than I had envisioned. We went to a beach wedding once & the bride wore a totally camo dress. No white on it at all. She was a vivacious girl & could carry it off but it all seemed kinda strange to me. She bought it on the net too - probably from China. Enjoy those baby cuddles.

    1. I think camo weddings are so ugly. But they pay so I do them.

  7. Ok. first of all the style of the dress is lovely, and the dress looks better than I had thought it would. I envisioned a totally Camo dress worn with hunting boots. Poor little flower girl. Most flower girls get to look like little princesses. Bless her heart.
Now I want to see pictures of the entire wedding party. One can only hope Elmer Fudd is the officiant!

  9. I will be happy when the camo wedding goes out of fashion. I live in a rural area and have been to many (a dozen?) in the last 5 years. I am not saying they are all bad but it is time to move on from this fad.

    2. My DH and I do some catering and we live in a rural area...a lot of hunters. I have also seen some questionable decorating and cake decisions. I am not sure who started the groom's cake with he phrase "The hunt is over" with a picture of the couple or just the bride screenprinted on it, but that needs to stop. There is also the plastic figures with the husband in camo and the bride with antlers.

  10. I've blissfully never heard until a camo wedding until now. I've been working on my kindness & compassion lately, so let me just say that is...different from my taste. :-) You did a lovely job on the sewing!

  11. I'm sure you did a beautiful job, but the wedding is going to look like a Halloween party. Ugn. This camo stuff is completely new to me. What is the point of this? Is this for the rural hunting crowd?

  12. I would rather see camo than the black my mother wore at her wedding. Click off that list and cuddle the baby
