Friday, Reaching even keel

I am sleepy.  I think I have been sleepy since I got home.  I am hoping to get rid of this feeling by the time the weekend is over.

I had a bridal dress come in and a bridesmaid dress come in plus a police uniform.  So, I have plenty to do.

I contacted the paper and my web guy and have changed my hours, and I also ordered a new sign from a sign shop to put on my garage.  Monday -Thursday 10:5:30 evenings by appointment. I also raised my prices.  Thanks Anne!

I need to make homemade rolls for Lil sis's sig other.  He had his knee replaced on Wednesday and is home already.  Modern medicine is amazing.  He is doing well and managing his pain.  I will also make cinnamon rolls when I make his rolls.

Hubs is out hunting (or taking his gun for a walk) I have plenty of dinner left over from last night for him to eat when he gets home.

There are so many things I want to get done around this house and I cannot motivate myself to get anything done.  I think going on vacation spoiled me.  It is hard to get back into the work mode. I think me keel is upended....

Any clues as how to get motivated after a long vacation?

Have a great and productive day staying positive while you are in the negative.

Kim

  1. TheHub is having some dress slacks hemmed at a different place. I will let you know what the price is. I am sure is is going to be more than you charge!

    1. I am sure also, I stopped by a tailor close to SIs and I was shocked at what they charged.

  2. Yay, good for you for raising prices and adjusting your hours, Kim! You deserve to work less and be paid more! Be kind to yourself as you ease back into your work - it is hard to motivate. Do small tasks, and take lots of breaks. :)

    1. I hope so. I really want to just be able to sew 3-4 hours a day and then maintain the house and things. If I am forced to sew more than that my back rebels.

  5. Here in Scottsdale Arizona, when I get our jeans or dress pants shortened, it costs $12. Well, that was the price two years ago….Hilogene in Az

    1. That is what I am going to charge. I remember when I was charging 5 and it was so hard to go to 7 and then 10. I just have a hard time charging for something that takes me minutes to do. But I have to remember that I have the equipment set up and ready to go.

  6. Any clues on motivation after a long vacation? Don't push yourself this weekend. Love that you adjusted hours/prices; I've had this discussion with a coupe of different folks lately. It is not lazy or selfish to realize you have needs to.

    1. I have just always thought that sewing was so easy and never saw it as a skill, but I sure do now. It is like plumbing, or electric work.

  7. First of all, rest up from vacation. Maybe the sleepiness is telling you to sleep. You have not had a sign? Don't get too far behind. You know how that feels. Limiting hours people can reach you will certainly make a difference, I think.

    1. I have a couple of nice signs I just want a small one with my hours below my doorbell so when clients come on Friday, they will realize I am closed.

    1. Well, I would have loved one, but I worked on the master bedroom and bath and finally got them done. Still a few more pictures to reframs.

  9. Go Kim! Nothing profound from me, but tackle one thing at a time, don't push yourself. Maybe no child care for a week or so, just so you can take breaks just for you and sleep well at night.

    1. Yeah, like that is going to happen. I had Kelsa the first night I was home. But I loved every minute of it. I know when I see that the bills need to be paid I will become very motivated.

  10. Oh my goodness...I snorted as I laughed about your hubby taking his gun for a walk. LOL! Many are doing that right now in Idaho...including my son Chris. ;)

  11. I giggled as well when I read about your Hubby taking his gun for a walk. No hunting here, though Hubby has his trail camera up and running. Glad that you have raised your prices and changed your hours.

    God bless.

  12. I always find it hard to get motivated again after a holiday Kim. You will find your groove - don't be so hard on yourself. I am pleased Hubs is obviously doing much better now. xx

  14. No clues on how to get motivated today. I just finished putting laundry away after looking at it for two days. I guess we just need to start with a small step.
