I think wandering around saying Who cares! helps a bit, don't you?
Sissie in an uproar. Too many things going on at once. Remember, I raised 3 kids, ran a dance studio with 120 students, had a husband that tried to help in his own way, and we were busy, busy. I mean busy to the point of crazy. This went on for years and years. I know it contributed to my illness. But I did it. I just took each day as it came and worked as hard as I could. I did not worry about the next week or the next show. I lined things up in my mind and always awoke with the same thought. What can I get done today?
I don't love being uber busy, but it does not bother me in the short term. Again, what can I get done today. I had to talk Miss dooms day off a cliff. Sissie always lists the worst-case scenarios on everything she does. But, what if? But what if? Okay Chicken Little, I am done. What are you going to get done today?
We just have a completely different way of looking at stress. I go to bed, say my prayers, thank the Lord for what I was able to do and ask for the strength to get through tomorrow. The catering job I agreed to do on the weekend when all hell is breaking lose is now gone. I called my friend, and we went over other options, and I sent her all the recipes. We have catered this menu together many times, she will be fine going solo. It is just fun to get together and do a project. We will do it again someday but not over the weekend of the 22nd of March!
I was able to get two wedding dresses done yesterday, and I am onto another two. I really want to get all the sewing done today so I can work in the yard tomorrow. But we will see. Here is my list!
1. press wedding dress finished
2. hem and do hand work and bustle and press another wedding dress
3. re alter the bust and bustle and press another wedding dress
4. Finish the inside of a wedding dress and get it ready to cut hem to length(might wait until Monday)
5. hem a pair of jeans
6. alter three items for a client.
Okay on your mark get set go!
Dan and I loaded 14 blocks from their landscaping to the back of my car and I want to get those unloaded and start on my sidewalk. But not until most of the above work is done!
See how I bribe myself with something I want to do... It works for me.
Say a prayer for Sissie as she lowers her blood pressure.
Oh, by the way I was able to get CHICKS!!!!!! Kids will be so excited Monday.
God is good
Kim
Yay on finding chicks. I am a que sera, sera kind of person. I can't stand high stress and fretting any more.
ReplyDeleteYou know I handle things far better, even when I am under stress. I guess I just learned.
DeleteHooray for chicks! They should lower anyone's blood pressure! And I am with you: I do the best I can each day and then let it go as much as I can (I'm a work in progress on that one).
ReplyDeleteYou can only do what you can do and these chickens are so cute!
DeleteAt least you got the chicks. I don't function well under stress anymore! I could outwork anyone. Now, I am lucky to go to bathroom and back. I am glad you got the burden from your back.
ReplyDeleteI still work well under stress, but I don't especially like it!
DeleteYay for chicks! I am more like Sissie and tend to stress, stress and stress some more when I am overwhelmed. I can't handle too much on my plate.
ReplyDeleteEveryone is different, and it is great that some are calmer and avoid stress. You have to bring us down. You poor thing!
DeleteI'm so glad you were able to get the chicks. The grands will be so excited and I can't wait to hear what they name them. I don't like to over schedule myself and enjoy my alone time but I try not to stress. Enjoy the weekend.
ReplyDeleteI am so sexcited to tell them about the chicks. I will send pictures.
DeleteI remember the stressful household if five, working full time, and elder care days. That's why I won't voluntarily put myself in that position again when there's so many balls to juggle that my arms feel like they'll fall off. If you're happy, sissy will see that in time. She might just have to step back and observe and not feel she has to step in and rescue.
ReplyDeleteThat is it in a nutshell. She thinks she has to rescue, and she does not. I may have been stressed but I have taken care of myself for a long time. She is a huge comfort and a huge help.
DeleteI thought of you and the kindness we should be spreading, when I left Aldi the other day I met someone that wanted my cart as I was leaving, I said you keep your quarter and have a great day, her face lit up and thanked me. Yes, it was only a quarter but it brightened a persons day and made mine :) Tebble
ReplyDeleteI know it is those little things that can bring such joy! Good on you!
