Wednesday, Not buying anything

I think today's grocery adds were the worst we have had so far.  Absolutely nothing to buy or add to the pantry.  Also, gas has gone up here from $3.77 to $4.19. I was so hoping with the price of gas going down that groceries would go down.

Hopefully gas will start to creep down a gain as it did go down over a dollar within a few weeks. I will remain positive.  But in the meantime, I will just live on what we have in the freezer and pantry.

My eldest grandson just started middle school yesterday, I just can't believe he is that old. If the last 11 years went as fast as they did, what about the next 11? Yikes Kelsa will be 13 and probably won't think I am the greatest thing ever.

Kelsa will be 2 on the 28 of August. I think I need another baby; my babies are becoming toddlers.  They just grow up too fast for this grandma.

Lots of sewing to do today, just too many dresses in the shop for my liking.

Have a great and productive day staying positive while you are n the negative.

Kim

  2. That is exactly what we expected to happen to gas prices after that Inflation bill was pushed through. We were in Aldi yesterday and very pleased to find so many prices were down and not just a few pennies. For example boneless skinless chicken breasts went from 3.99 to 2.49! I was just about pinching myself!

    2. Wow, I am used to paying 1.69 for boneless chicken, I guess I haven't bought any for a while.

  3. We just went to the grocery store. Tommy went in and shopped. He bought one bell pepper as that was all I needed. There was nothing bogo. Actually, the bread I buy is bogo, but I have a new loaf. The best I can do on that deal is to buy before the sale goes off nest Tuesday. That ploy backfires often as the bogo item is gone near the end of the sale period.

  4. I went to the last day of Kroger sale yesterday - and got a couple bargains. Today I ran to Aldi - like Lana I was pleased with prices and stock. I got eggs at Kroger - but they were also cheap at Aldi. I was really surprised at both stores.
Gives grow up in a flash.

    1. I am not seeing anything lowering here, but then we are at the end of truck route. So everything dead heads out of here making things more exspensive.

  5. That $2.49 for bscb Plans got was the best I've heard of in ages. I haven't even looked at ads, but am determined to pantry shop instead of weekly plan and shop. Yes, the babies grow so fast. The baby on my side will be ,,3 in September. Who knows if mine or my sister's son will have any.

  6. The prices of food around here are insane! Our Walmart has this Italian bread that we love. It used to be $1.00. Now it is $1.47. Ugh!

    2. The "baked fresh in store" French bread that was 99¢ a loaf late last year has crept up to $1.99 per loaf. That seems to be the tipping point for most people. It was priced at 2.49 per loaf in March and April. Few people were buying it.

I bake from scratch, for the most part. I do buy a loaf of that French bread and a package of hamburger buns most months. And I treat myself to one deliciously decadent butter croissant from a local, third-generation bakery each month.

Can I make those things from scratch? Absolutely! Do I want to do that? Not so much! 🙃

  7. Tell your daughter we had to do a writ of mandamus during trial which has delayed it. It has been a wild week and I think I am fairly well stocked on groceries except I need Gatorade for my middle son, he works outside, and I may need some canned tomato soup because I am running low. I am a terrible cook so it is best I stick with the canned stuff and not t try to make it myself. I need dog food also, I think. Well, maybe cat food also… I always see something I am about to run out of when I go to the store. Cindy in the South

  8. I agree with the prices of food. It's annoying as heck. I am still conscious of overbuying. I bought some items that I need to use up this week before I buy anything else.

  9. Sometimes it’s a nice break to skip the store and shop your shelves.

  10. I need to shop my freezer - we have so many meal options in there, but the family rejects a week of just leftovers. ;-) I have to find a way to make them appear new again.

  11. I've been watching the food aisles of the local drug store - they often put tuna and canned soups on really good deals (2 for $5.00! instead of $3-4 per can at the grocery store). We got 3 bags of groceries on the weekend and it came to $165!!

    1. I know food is higher in Canada. But you are right drug stores that sell food often have great closeouts.
