Wednesday, Still sewing

I was pleased with myself yesterday, getting a little vacuuming done around here, so I didn't feel like I was tracking in or out. I actually found a couple of pieces of wedding dress fluff upstairs, probably carried on someones shoe or one of the animals paws.  There was so much wedding fluff all over the family room where I do my hand work.

Hubs actually started to clean out the shed and took a load of old skis whose binding were broken to the dump.  I ran up to the storage place and cancelled the larger unit.  They will take what I paid and put it toward the smaller one so that was nice. One more thing off the list.

Hubs and I are going to pull everything out of the garage on Saturday and wash it off and then put back what we will take with us.  We already had our handy man take all the wood scrap and go through drawers of electrical and plumbing things. There are two dressers in the garage that I do not plan on taking with me, also a large plastic storage unit on the back deck.   Hubs rarely uses his tools anymore, but he won't give them up either.  I can't blame him, I don't think I could give up my sewing machines even if I could not use them.

We ate a huge salad and green beans from the garden again last night.  The green beans are so good fresh.  I am making a small meat loaf and roasted green beans for dinner tonight. After I get done sewing today I am going to look at the list I created and  see if I can get one thing done to help with the move.  If I do this all through the rest of the month is will make things so much easier.

Today I will hem 8 pairs of pants, alter a jacket, hem a wedding dress.  Maybe start on another wedding dress we will see.

Have a great and productive day staying positive while you are in the negative.

Kim

  1. Do you have a machine that blind stitches the hems or do you hem by hand? It looks like your husband is getting on the same page as you with the moving. That will make your life so much easier. No, i would not give up my machines and sewing things.

  2. So happy to see your hubby is getting on board with all this. I know he doesn't like change - but since he likes the new place - I am sure that helps.

  3. Hubby said something about giving up some of his tool boxes when we moved...that didn't happen as what he was going to give up was actually MY TOOL BOXES . I don't give up my kitchen stuff very well, still working on that myself.

    Are you counting days yet???

    1. Our farmers markets are so overpriced here, but it is fun to go look. Also I am afraid of the crowds.

  5. I'm going to do a little preaching right now, since we have been knee deep in cleaning out all the things Mom could not give up. If you don't use it or it does not make your life better get rid of it. As soon as we are through with Mom' s house I am going through mine with a fine tooth comb and getting rid of at least half of the things I own. Btw can anyone tell me why on earth she thought it was necessary to keep my old Girl Scout mess kit. I last used it when I was 12.

    1. It was a treasure, I am going to downsize like you can't believe. I don't want to do to my kids what my mom did to us. I want a picture of you with your mess kit!

  6. My garden is booming this year with banana peppers, shishito peppers, squash and tomatoes. My beans? Not so much ... I should have learned from last year with the bush beans. I still have quite a few months of growing season left so I may try and put in some pole beans and see what happens. My husband also has a lot of tools, he could build an entire housing complex! but, he also won't get rid of them. He doesn't really use them at all anymore. I"m trying to understand but I don't really LOL

    1. I know it is a man thing. He who dies with the most tools wins.

  7. I thought about giving up tools. You may never climb another ladder, but someone can climb it to help you. That is the way both Tommy and i feel about tools. I had lots i could not use anymore, but friends used them to help me in tiny short jobs. It does not matter if i use it or not, i am keeping it.

    1. That is so true. Our handy man had a Christmas morning going through all of our junk drawers in the garage. We are not redoing houses any more, we don't need this stuff.
