Wednesday, I am getting there

Well I was pretty proud of myself yesterday, although I was a little grouchy at times.  All the cookies were delivered, and my errands done.

Daughter asked us to keep kids last night and I said no, I needed a night off, and I was able to get into the shop and get several things done.

I got pillows made for Lil sis and her gift wrapped and she picked it up this morning, so I did not have to take it over.

The kids are here, and the baby is napping.

I actually got all the Christmas paraphernalia put away and my kitchen is clean except for the floors.  I have the vacuum out and the mop bucket full of pinesol water. The only room that is a disaster is the front room and it is wrapping central. As soon as I finish with my sewing I will start wrapping.  Can hardly wait.

I keep forgetting to get a check in the mail for the paperboy, so sometime today I will have to run cash to the house, as I want him to have it before Christmas.  Add that to the list.

SO today:

1. get paperboy a tip

2. hem three pants

3. take in 4 pants

4. mend three shirts

5. mend a coat

6. alter a dress

7. alter a pair of pants

8. get a pile of things done for my little person

9. clean up shop a little, as in hand what is done and what I will do after Christmas

10. wrap gifts

I think if I get in there, I will be able to know this out in a few hours.

How are you guys doing on getting things ready for Christmas?  Do you like wrapping gifts, or do you save it for last like me?

Have a great and productive day staying positive while you are int the negative.

Kim

  1. I know you love and adore your grandchildren but sometimes we have to say no. Way to go on getting things done. I hope you're able to sit back and enjoy the holiday a bit.

  3. I am taking the attitude that what gets done, gets done for Christmas. I still have the kids' gifts to wrap, but will probably do that tomorrow as I can hole up in my bedroom while Bill is home from work. I haven't made any cookies, that is also on the agenda for tomorrow. It is what it is. I am proud of you for getting things done and saying no to the kids overnight. May you and yours have a Merry Christmas!

  4. Sometimes NO is just what needs to be said.
I got my wrapping finished today. My delivery came and that was a relief. Just doing odds and ends and making lists of what not to forget for Sunday.
    You got this!!!

  5. We're very quiet here as we are not having Christmas with family due again this year. Only one gift to wrap, the food is all ready for Christmas lunch - looking forward to a quiet day.

  6. It is a Christmas Miracle! Kim said "NO" so she could get her stuff done. I love to wrap gifts and have made money doing so. It is coming along here. I will do nothing more except cook if the turkey thaws before Christmas. If not, I will find a small package of breasts and one of thighs and use that.

  7. Thanks for the reminder about the paperboy (or in my case, the paper man who delivers by car at 4:30 a.m.)!

I tried a new recipe for cinnamon buns this afternoon (the jury is still out), I'm making cinnamon bread right now, and I will make two Biscoff cheesecakes tomorrow (for two different celebrations). My husband is doing most of the cooking this year!

    1. I never thought about using Biscoff for a cheesecake crust, what a good idea.

  8. Ugh, yes, I too have the paper deliverer to tip, plus our beer tenders and Trivia MC. Need that done tomorrow. I'm sure your daughter understands you can't always be putting yourself second-or 19th!

  9. I am beyond proud of you for saying no this time. No one should pile more on themselves than they can comfortably handle (emergency situations excepted).
I need to get some gift cards for a few people who make my life easier.

  10. Good for you for saying NO, Kim. You need a break.

I have the wrapping done and do a mixture of both...wrap some early, wrap some later.

  11. Whew, I hope you get to sit down and relax soon! I made cookies for our local fire department, post master and a few neighbors. I was ready for everything last weekend. Mostly because I ordered all my presents online on black friday. We have no plans set yet. Our daughter is in the hospital nearing the end of her life. We are hoping she gets to go home tomorrow for Christmas with our 9 year old grandson. We are living day by day for now. Our other daughter decided to spend Christmas in Mexico on a vacation with friends. She hates our country life, she prefers the big city, spa days and fancy restaurants. Our holidays are changing. Our community of friends and family have suffered great loss this month, the pain is still fresh for so many. I am praying for joy to come back to each and everyone I know. God bless! ~jackie~

  12. Gifts been wrapped. BUT all the kids wait until Christmas eve to wrap presents. They did NOT get that from me. Christmas eve we might go look at lights and maybe drop off to Daughter 1 as she is trying to connect with her 5 kids herself. The most of the rest is Christmas day on way to see Army grandson. Two are coming up Boxing Day. Not sure when we will see Hubby's parents. They are not letting anyone in the house. Can not blame them. Thought we might go over and wave through the window.
