Thursday, What a difference 24 hours makes

I am feeling much better today.  My hand is still tender but nothing like yesterday which was just plain scary.  I learned a few things yesterday which by the way was 111 outside.

1. Don't wear white shorts and a white and lime green blouse when you take care of babies. (thought I would save time when I had to get ready to go to graduation)  Because you will be filthy and have to change.
2. Know matter how carefully you plan, something will change the plan.  (okay I knew this one but it always bites me)
3.111 is very hot, so making cookies is stupid.

I was very busy with clients yesterday.  It was mostly picking up.  I did get a wedding dress ready for pick up tomorrow.  I have a few things that do have to be done today, but I also have the littles again.  Their grandma got sick last night and I got   a text asking if  I could take them .It was fine as I have to do something about the tomato situation, or fruit flies will take over. Between Hub's and I we can get canning done and heard a couple of kids.

The air conditioner has kept the house about 80 so we  are surviving the heat.  We turn it off at night and only run it from noon to about 8 o'clock. Then we open doors and add fans.

Hub's took me out to dinner last night as we very seldom go out any more. I really tried to quell when we are trying to get out of debt.  We went to Red Bento as I had about $7.00 left on a gift card there.  We ordered 2 California rolls, which were on special for 2.95 and one dish to split.  Even splitting we had enough left over for another lunch.  Portions are just too large.  I saw many couples there with these huge portions in front of them and I realize why America has a weight problem.  Okay, okay mine is from bakery treats, every one has their weakness. Restaurants just serve too much food.

I was able to attend a Nurse pinning ceremony last night at the community college.  It was very special.  Many of the students were foreign and it is such a big step for their families.  Over 1/2 of them will now attend the 4 year college and get their RN. But LPN's are also very important in the food chain of nursing.  I was touched by the sacrifice these young men and women had to make to get through a very rigorous program.  It is not easy to get into the nursing program here.

Hub's and I also did a grocery shop last night.  Things we needed on sale except shrimp.  Shrimp was on sale here and when I got to the store, they were out so I was able to get a bigger better quality they were subbing.  Score!.  Also cereal was $1.25 a box limit 4 but it spit out a man-Q for 2.00 off so I will go back and get 4 more that will be .75 a box.  Great stock up price for the grand kids and to take into families.

I have two sinks now full of tomatoes so I will have to get busy and make more spag sauce.  I will can this lot as the freezer is full. Then I will sew what needs to be done for tomorrow this evening.

I also paid bills yesterday and I am glad I did not make any plans for this month, as I had that electricians bill and I was over budget for last month with all the funeral travel and expense.

Have a great and productive day staying positive while you are in the negative.

Kim

  1. Hi Kim! Praying you can keep cool today since it is going to be even hotter than it was yesterday. UGH! Great deal on that shrimp. I found some marked down to half price at Safeway yesterday that was already precooked, so that made dinner easy for me and I still froze a bunch of it.

    1. I like to get the shell on uncooked kind as it has the best flavor, but hey shrimp anyway you cook it is great! It was 116 at the house yesterday.

  2. you certainly achieved a lot yesterday. I do not like how hot it's been here in Southern Ontario either.

  3. We are 100 today which is COOL for us...problem is it is only cool because the wildfires are so bad the smoke is blocking out the sun. My heart goes out to all the people having to deal with these fires - I can't even imagine!!!! We are quite a bit away and I couldn't be out back watering the veggies for 5 minutes because my asthma started acting up & I couldn't breath. NEED TO LEAVE CALIFORNIA!!!

  5. Glad your hand is feeling better. 111 degrees is so hot, we don't typically get temps that high in Fl, but the humidity is what really sucks.

You always are able to accomplish so much!

    1. I am always grateful it is dry here, when it does get humid like maybe twice a year people get very grouchy.

  6. Sounds like a bargain dinner out. A little splurge helps keep the motivation going.
