Tuesday, No kids and Quiet!

All is quiet here today, well except for the phone and the doorbell.  The kids are off to a theme park in northern Idaho and Hubs and I are basking in the quiet.

Last night Hubs could tell I was at a breaking point and when it was supper time suggested that we go get a sandwich.  Who was I to argue? We stopped by Lil sis's to eat out by her pool and see the progress.  Then home to continue sewing.

I did well yesterday, but still need to get to the bank and get a deposit made and a statement picked up so I can pay the bills.

Hubs has to work at the high school tonight.  He also needs to get a haircut, pick up his hearing aid(I wonder how much that will cost) and figure out why the lawn mower won't start. SO his day is full.

Yesterday, I had to leave late in the afternoon (like 4:00) to go get elastic, as I had at least 10 items that needed elastic.  I was just across the bridge when hubs called and I had to turn around as a client showed up with a bridesmaid dress.  So got that done and another showed up to pick up.  Then off again to get elastic and another showed and here is Hubs with a baby and two small boys.  Luckily it was a gentleman from our church and he could help himself.  It has gotten to the point that I cannot leave during the day to even run an errand or get supplies the shop is so busy.

But today the hell with it, I am going to the banks, I need to get things done and by the time I wait for everyone to come the banks are closed.

I am looking forward to an afternoon of sewing in peace and quiet.

1. go to banks

2. finish 4 skirts with elastic

3. fix pants

4. hem shorts (mine)

5. get an pile done

6. hem a bridesmaid dress

7. hem a pair of pants

8. alter two chemises

9.mend a couple of items

10. another bridesmaid dress

11. another bridesmaid dress

12. pay bills

Well I am off to run to the banks and then get to work.  SO glad to have hubs home to run the gauntlet for me.  Peace of mind is priceless.

You have any plans today?

Have a great and productive day staying positive while you are in the negative.

Kim

  1. I did but after reading your list I need a nap. You might have to set a day of no drop offs or pick ups or at least half day for you to get your own stuff done. Hubby's hearing aids cost $2440. We have no insurance to cover that.

    1. Shocked by hearing aid cost! We have no insurance coverage for them either.

  2. I think having a day specified for no drop offs or pick ups is a great idea. You could devote it to doing whatever you needed to do!

  3. I agree with the gals above about a no drop off or pick day!
Tons of business is a good problem to have (I guess).
    Have a good one.

    1. I am blessed with work. I just can't leave anytime I want to. It is an aggravation sometimes.

  4. I agree with the other comments that a day per week when the shop is closed to customers is a good idea. If that isn't workable, could you have a specific period during the day when the shop is closed--say from noon to 2:00pm? That would give you time to take care of your own personal business.

    1. That would not work as many people come on their lunch hour. I just have to run and get supplies in the evenings and remember to do so. That way I will not be frustrated or under stress.

  5. I'm actually going to disagree with others about having a drop off/pick up day. Both DH and I have business at home. Everyone needs to remember that customers also have schedules. Most people have to work too, so they only have limited times to pick up/drop off. As business owners, we have to take customers' schedules & needs into consideration too. Most self employed people have slow times and busy times. During those busy times, we bend over backwards for customers. They're the ones contributing towards our paychecks after all. I'm as frazzled as Kim is now, during 4th quarter. I know it's frustrating & stressful Kim, but you're gonna wish for this busyness when things slow down again. This too shall pass my friend. I'm happy that your business is thriving!

    1. Thanks for the support. You understand that I do need to be open from 10-6 Monday through Friday. I need to be available on lunch hours and after most business close. I also take evening appointments for those who cannot get in before 6, but only with an appointment. This is a service industry and we have to be there to serve. I will have a lull in my business (hopefully) in Dec-Feb.

  6. How about having people call and schedule a pickup that works for you and the customer. I would definitely have a firm "no just dropping in" to pick up items. And, since you charge fees beyond sewing, I would charge for unscheduled pickups. I don't know how you even get a bath or shower or go anywhere with drop-ins.

    1. Well I bath in the evenings and I have a 10-6 drop off or pick up policy Mondays-Friday. I do evening but gluon by appointment. My problem is when I need to run get supplies and I bet with myself no one will come and they do. I need to get supplies at night.

  7. You are always so busy. I don't know how you do it. I agree that you should set up pick up times. Saves you and saves the person picking up having to wait or having to come back.

    God bless.

    1. Well what I need to do, is make sure I have supplies and get them in the evening. It is when I try and run out during business hours that this happens and I get frustrated. But it should be with myself.

  8. I have no idea how you manage to juggle all that you do. I also agree with the pick up times. It is just rude of your customers to just come whenever they feel like it with no regard for you.

  9. I was diagnosed as HEPATITIS B carrier in 2013 with fibrosis of the
liver already present. I started on antiviral medications which
reduced the viral load initially. After a couple of years the virus
became resistant. I started on HEPATITIS B Herbal treatment from
ULTIMATE LIFE CLINIC (www.ultimatelifeclinic.com) in March, 2020. Their
treatment totally reversed the virus. I did another blood test after
the 6 months long treatment and tested negative to the virus. Amazing
treatment! This treatment is a breakthrough for all HBV carriers.
