Friday, Adjusting to work

Well other than living in a very dirty house, I think I am adjusting back into the shop finally!!!!  I don't know why I thought it would be easy or why it took me so long, but yesterday I was finally able to get into the sewing room and accomplish what I thought I should have. Now I am very backed up (in the sewing department) but I FEEL LIKE I can once again control the demand. I did get all things promised for this weekend out and that took off the stress.  Today I will try and tackle a couple of jobs that were here before vacation that I put off.  They are not fun jobs nor are they easy, but they must be done.  Once those are accomplished it will be the general chaos, which I can handle.

SO feeling better about my circumstances, I actually cleaned both of out toilets today.  I know so exciting, but they were getting really bad and I just kept telling myself no you do not have time.  Also as it is a new month and Fall is coming I want to do a thorough de clutter and deep clean of all my nooks and crannies.  SO I decided to start on two new challenges.

1. De Clutter an item for every day of the month.  On the first it was one item, then 2 for the second, so by the end of the month you will get rid of 30 things on the 30th. You will get rid of close to 500 items.  We have lived in this house for over a year and I promised myself if an item was not used in a year I did not need it.  Space it very limited.

2. I will try to clean out a cupboard/drawer or 2 cupboards/drawers a day and I will take pictures and report here. This should not take long or be over whelming.

My first challenge is the junk drawer which is a on going mess, but today it will be organized.  I already have 6 items in the back of the car to take to good will as it is the 3rd day of the month.

Now I don't know how well this will go, But I am setting my sites high here.

My Sissie who has a beautiful home is getting all new carpet in her 3 stories and she is having to systematically go through every level of her house and move and clean out what she can and put it all back.  Can you imagine how nice a clean and beautiful it will be? I can't wait to see it.

The infamous junk drawer is first, I will report tomorrow with a picture.

Does anyone else want to join?  It is not to late?

Have a great and productive day staying positive while we are in the negative.

Kim

  1. Good luck! I did a 5 a day challenge last month. Basically 150+ things out. 500 is a lot!!

  2. I bet I could double your declutter goal and my house would look like a purge is in order.

    1. Well let's get started my friend. EVERY TIME I find something to get rid of I am thrilled, one less thing to have to move, find, ignore.

  4. About the toilets being cleaned--some days any little thing is a win to celebrate. I wish you would not start a challenge. With a dirty house that I am sure is not all that dirty, why not clean a bit each day? But, I know you have got this in your head. So, good luck. I should feel a compulsion to clean. Well, my body is not cooperating with my head.

    1. I am taking it slow as in a small job a day or a few small baskets a day. Just getting rid of crap I DON"T NEED.

  6. I did two years of the declutter 1000 items and those two years went very well. Then when I tried it the next year it was only 500 items. I have found it gets much harder. Now I do a find a use or reuse absolutely everything that I possibly can challenge. Seems to work for the most part. I still declutter, but don't keep track of how many items leave the house.

I am glad that you are feeling as if you are catching up with your sewing.

    God bless.

    1. Well I am by no means catching up the volume is absolutely horrid, but I do feel like I am back on track to get things done. I bet in those two years you really pared down and now you are at a point that you are really just keeping what you want and need.

  8. So glad you are getting back into the swing of things. Hope you have a good weekend!
I'll join your challenge. And my family is getting into the spirit of things too.
The boy has a box of 80 records to donate. The girl has gathered 50 items of clothing and we all have gathered 84 books. Total so far is 214.
