Saturday, change of plans

I did not finish the neighbors curtains, I forgot how much time curtains take.  I hate (yes hate) sewing curtains.  They never end and these are lined which makes them worse.  I actually have the four pieces of the last two on the ironing board and they may get done today and maybe not.  I really just want them gone.  Grrrr!

Yesterday about 3:30 I realized I would not be able to finish said curtains and then get any kind of rest before driving the 2 hours to Spokane.  I had slept horribly the night before and I have a tendency to get really sleepy when driving.  So I decided to take a rest.  Just as I had laid down I get a call from D#2 she reminds me that it is a full moon and also Friday the 13th.  I take no stock in the 13th thing but a full moon has the deer out in droves and I am a deer magnet.  My thought of leaving after 6 to avoid the Friday night rush hour traffic, just took a whole new turn.  I thought if I get sleepy I will just pull over, I have done this before.

So up I jump (yes I can jump) and I pack a small bag and get my deposit ready for the bank, then go to bank and stop by Lil sis's to feed the cats. As I was pulling out of town  I get a call from D#2.  Her renter over heard the conversation with me and offered to watch the Schmills.  Schmills loves this young girl and the girl is between school jobs so needed the gas money.  I could still come up but was not needed.  I was torn as a day with Schmills is always a day to remember.  But my conscience said you are really behind on yard work, think of how much you can get done.  So I turned the car around and went home.

Here I sit in my overalls all decked out for yard work.  My only problem is where do I start?  Do I cut back the ivy in the backyard?  Do I clean out the flowerbed one of three in the front yard?  Do I try and convince hubs to help me move the canoe and attack the blueberry patch?  I just have so many choices.

I will be a fun day no matter what.

What are you going to do with your Saturday?

Have a great and productive day staying positive while you are in the negative.

Kim

  1. Today I went to Mom's grabbed all of her hazardous materials (pant and lawn chemicals) electronics, and papers to shred then headed to the annual recycle day in my burb. Then I went to her house to visit, went to the grocery store for her, drove back to her house, visited some more. I came home and decided I needed to go swimming about the time the phone rang. Son2, DIL2 and the dog are coming over for lunch (!?!) and to watch the ball game (Roll Tide!) So it looks like I have about an hour to get the house tidied and plan some sort of meal and ball game snacks.

    1. Nothing like last minute guests to spur one into action.

  2. I am in tomato picking land, picture taking land, tallying grocery shopping land, garage tidying land and dog watching land today. At least there are still plenty of leftovers in leftover land so I don't have to cook for a third day in a row. I am about giddy over that one!
    Have fun in the yard.....

  3. The kids and I spent 3 hours this morning doing seed gathering, weeding and mulching at a nearby environmental center as a service project. I need to clean up the downstairs as we are having friends over for dinner. Enjoy your time outside!

    1. Company always gets me cleaning much better than when I do it for myself. I did enjoy my time outside.

  4. I washed the bedding, hung it on the line. Cleared the front porch of stuff Hubby dumped there last week that belongs in the barn. I dumped inside the over head door of the barn, okay that was a pay back LOL. I harvested some popcorn that was dry, watched the neighbor chase their new milk cow around the yard and finally get her in the barn. I cleared all the dead what ever's in the pots around the front porch. Realized that one of them was where I planted Daddy's grape hyacinth and Hubby had planted onions with it. Sifted dirt , got very small onions (good for roasts) and replanted the grape hyacinth in a hanging flower pot as I really don't have a good place for them yet. Finished putting garden stuff away in garden shed and swept porch. E went by with his wagon and horses and yelled it looked good from the road. I plan to decorate next weekend for Autumn. Bedding in and bed remade. Not sure what I am eating for dinner. Hubby at auction out of state and won't be back until late.

    1. Isn't is nice when you don't have to worry about making dinner for the Hubs, you can have a bowl of cereal if you want.

    2. LOL that is exactly what I had so he thought I was sick as I don't eat cereal.

  5. When I was a kid my Momma sewed for other people (and ironed). She could make anything and make it beautifully. She always HATED curtains!!!! They were always pleated curtains back then and a real pain in the bum.

I hate that when you have so many things to do - that you sit and wonder where to start. Happens often - and usually I don't start!
Have a great balance to your weekend

    1. I have done my share of pleated curtains in my time. So much work. Ugh! Can't wait to finish these monsters, honestly one hour will do it, but I am making it 10 in my mind.

  6. I hate making curtains too Kim. I mostly make my own but don't enjoy it & try to not do it for other people. Especially lined ones that can take ages. I am pleased you got to hopefully spend some time in your yard - perhaps crossing some more of that never ending list! It is sunny here today & I am going outside to weed just as soon as I have hung out the huge pile of washing. Happy weekend my friend xx

    1. My problem is I can't sew anything straight. I always end up with one longer than the other even when I rip a grain line and measure, measure.

  7. I have had several days like that lately! I am a planner, but I find it necessary to be able to go with the flow. The verses that keep coming to me: Instead, you ought to say, "If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that."

    1. I am pretty good at rolling, actually very good at it, I love to plan and then lose the list.

  8. Sorry you missed a day with Schmills, but glad you got more time for yourself. I mean, for your chores!

    1. Yes the Schmills is always a joy but getting the yard done was so worth the sacrifice.

  9. Just start anywhere! A game night and nap beforehand was the sum of my day and on my blog.

  10. You are a busy girl! I made curtains years ago when I was young. I don't know if my nerves (and back) can handle it now.

  11. I get sleepy while driving too, so I will drink something with caffeine, which helps since I don't drink it often.
